My husband an I hosted our rehearsal dinner at Canvas this summer, and we could not have been happier. We needed to accommodate about 80 people, but all the private rooms in restaurants we were visiting were too small. When we finally visited Canvas we loved the exposed brick, bold colors, and the beautiful illuminated bar. We ate lunch at one of Charles’ restaurants on the same street and loved the food, so we figured that was a good sign. We had a few dietary restrictions and allergies to manage, but Charles easily helped us craft a menu that worked for everyone. On the day of, the space was beautiful—with nice lighting and plenty of lounge seating for cocktail hour—the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Everyone commented on it!
Charlie and the crew at Artist's Palate blew our family and close friends out of the water when they catered our rehearsal dinner! Simply put, the food was amazing. Charlie crafted a fresh, custom seasonal menu that was distinct from what we had at the wedding the next day, and executed it flawlessly. Everyone (even the vegans and GF) were happy and extremely satisfied with their meal!
Using the Canvas Wine Bar also allowed us to do an after-dinner happy hour for people not invited to the rehearsal dinner. This small event turned into one of the highlights of the weekend that allowed us to actually spend time with many of our guests.
Our only regret was not asking Charlie to cater the main event! We highly recommend Charlie and his crew for all your on or off-site catering needs!
We had our rehearsal dinner at Canvas and it was superb! We were able to completely rent the private restaurant space for a really intimate setting. We had a cocktail hour including appetizers which everyone loved. The venue utilized the space really smartly with the cocktail hour upfront and the dinner set up in the back behind a curtain, beautifully decorated. There were three courses and all delicious! Everyone commented on how perfect Canvas was and I'd highly recommend it for rehearsal dinners or other events!
We just had our wedding at Locust Grove and went with Artist's Palate for our catering. We received tons of compliments on the food. The process of planning with Charlie (the owner) was smooth and he was on top of every detail we planned for. The food was delicious, he, his wife, and his staff are are awesome, professional and very easy to work with, and the day went off without a hitch.
From the moment we started working with him, we felt relaxed that he was handling everything he needed to handle and we could relax. We did not use a wedding coordinator so having an efficient, organized caterer (who is essentially the primary point person for the whole day) is essential. Look no further than Artist's Palate if you are planning a wedding in Poughkeepsie. In addition, we felt the cost of catering was competitive and fair, and the quality of food was above and beyond your typical wedding food.
You know we loved our caterer when we haven't even left for our honeymoon yet and we're making sure to be the good word out for this caterer. Highly, highly recommended!
