We hired ARTLEX for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and I still think about how easy they made it. Vartan, the artistic director, asked us questions no other vendor did — not just what songs we liked, but what we wanted the day to feel like. I was nervous I'd be the bride fumbling through ceremony cues, or that the quartet wouldn't really understand us. Instead, every transition just happened. Ceremony into cocktails into dinner, without anyone visibly directing traffic.
The moment I'll never forget: the quartet playing "You're My Best Friend" for our first dance. Both our parents were in tears by the end. It was so special. Even the way the musicians dressed felt considered — like they belonged in the room rather than being hired for it.

- Vartan MailiantzCo-founder & Artistic DirectorVartan Mailiantz is the co-founder and Artistic Director of ARTLEX, and the violinist behind its sound. He started young. By the age of sixteen he had already won ten competitions, several of them international, and he has since performed on concert tours across more than twenty countries, from Europe to Asia to the Americas, including a sold-out season at Carnegie Hall. He brings that same standard to every wedding ARTLEX plays. What sets his work apart is the care behind it: the piece a couple walks down the aisle to, the arrangement that makes a first dance feel like no one else’s, the way music can hold a room without anyone noticing the work underneath. Under his direction, ARTLEX curates live music for weddings across New York and the Tri-State, from an intimate string quartet at the ceremony to a full band or DJ carrying the reception. Every program is built by hand, for the couple, and performed by musicians held to a concert-level standard. Vartan also leads Salon Aux Chandelles, an intimate concert series built on the same belief that guides everything ARTLEX does: that live music, at its best, is personal and unforgettable.
