Do not look further for an engagement ring or wedding band-- go to Aspen! Aspen is an incredible jeweler, extremely honest, and the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
My fiance and ...
I met Aspen while shopping for engagement rings. My fiance had suggested that we go to the jewelry/diamond district in downtown LA to look for an engagement ring. I looked at reviews on Yelp, and when I read Aspen's reviews I insisted that we make an appointment to meet with him (he is by appointment only, so an appointment is a must).
We met with Aspen after visiting four or five other jewelers that day. Aspen could not have been more incredible. He sat with us for over two hours and explained the various diamond grading systems (GIA, EGL USA, EGL Israel, etc.), and must have showed us over twenty stones. Just one of the things that sets Aspen apart from other jewelers is his honesty. While we felt like other jewelers were trying to make us think they would give us a good deal (but really we thought they were trying to rip us off), Aspen was the exact opposite. He explained everything in amazing detail, even showing us some stones, but telling us they weren't worth the price he would have to charge for them (based on the price that he had paid).
My fiance decided at that first meeting that he would buy my engagement ring from Aspen, and I described exactly the setting that I wanted. Another thing that sets Aspen apart from other jewelers is that he customizes each setting to each center diamond. He doesn't have a bunch of pre-made settings that he drops the diamonds into (which often results in gaps between the center diamond and the setting). Aspen designed the ring just as I had described, and it could not have come out more beautifully. I get so many compliments on my ring!!
Aspen is currently making our wedding bands (another custom design such that my wedding band will be flush against my engagement ring), and I have no doubt that they will be just as perfect as my engagement ring.
I also brought in a pair of earrings that had been my grandmother's to see if Aspen could fix them. Not only did he fix them, but he wouldn't let me pay him, saying it was no problem. That is the kind of guy that Aspen is!
I am incredibly particular (I research EVERYTHING), and I will never go to another jeweler again. Aspen is simply the best!!
After my now husband customized my beautiful engagement ring with Aspen, there was no where else we wanted to go to get our wedding bands than from this wonderful diamond "guru." ...
My husband had no idea about what diamonds were good quality, or even what the differences were in cut, but after a couple of days with Aspen, it seemed he knew everything, from clarity to color to florescence. The engagement ring that was customized was beautiful, and I believe the best ring that I've ever seen (but I may be biased)!
Because of the way that the engagement ring was made, a normal wedding band could not be flush against the band, so Aspen was able to help us design another custom ring. We were also worried that because my wedding band would not be the traditional band shape that my husband's band would not be a matching set. However, Aspen was able to work his magic and gave some great ideas. Needless to say, they both turned out beautifully! I could not have asked for better quality bands. And, even though my band is shaped to fit the engagement ring and has diamonds, and my husband's band is the a traditional band with only milligraining, they match perfectly and are still within both our different styles.
Also, when I see other people's wedding bands that have diamonds along the band, more times than not you can see a difference between the color of each diamond. Aspen did a great job color matching every diamond not only on my wedding band, but also on my engagement ring, so every diamond on both are the same color and composition. I have gotten many compliments on how my wedding set sparkles!
Aspen is such a great guy, and is an amazing diamond specialist! I couldn't ask for a better person to trust with the two pieces of jewelry that I will wear for the rest of my life!
