Astounding Sounds & Lighting

I used Astounding Sounds and Lighting to do my lighting decor for my wedding last week and everything looked AMAZING! From the uplights to our twinkle lights, it was everything I imagined and more!!! Thank you again so much for that extra touch!!!

Ryan Lee was awesome to work with and did such a great job! Astounding Sounds did the uplighting for our receptions which completely converted the space into exactly how I wanted it to look. Ryan played every song we asked him to (we asked guests to request a song on their RSVP's so we had a few) and didn't play anything we didn't want him to. He kept the crowd dancing the whole time which is EXACTLY what I wanted! The whole night flew by because we were all dance and having fun the whole time. I also had one of my bridesmaids who's a graphic designer make a bogo for us, and Ryan was able to use it on one of the side walls, which really personalized the space for us. I would definitely book Astounding Sounds and Ryan again!

Colby was awesome! My husband and I had 2 completely different types of music we wanted to be played at our reception. Colby did a wonderful job picking music that we both enjoyed. Our dance floor was packed the WHOLE time! Friends and family members are still talking about how much fun the reception was and that all goes to Colby for playing the best music that kept the dance floor rocking!

Ryan with astounding sounds was perfect! I had an eclectic vision of what I wanted for the reception dinner and dance, and he hit it spot on! Everyone, young and old, were on the dance floor all night! Oh my gosh it was so much fun! We had dozens of people say it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and Ryan played a huge part in making that happen by keeping everyone dancing! He was also great at making announcements throughout the evening, had great sound equipment for the space, he was not cheesy or annoying like some djs but very professional and cool. He was great at reading the crown and playing the right music at the right time, while still staying within the music styles I wanted. Thank you so much Ryan!

Ryan is an excellent DJ. He connected with our guests which comprised a wide variety of ages and musical tastes. Ryan kept the event moving from cocktail hour to the close of our reception five hours later. He listened to our requests, offered suggestions, and was very responsive. Ryan was as good or better than we expected and we highly recommend him.

Colby was AMAZING! Everyone loved him! I have gotten multiple texts/calls/comments saying that he was the best DJ- and we agree! We could not have asked for anything more!! Worth every penny and even more!!

Kelly Hooper was the DJ for my wedding reception and she was amazing! Everyone had an fantastic time, and I heard many people comment during and after the wedding on how great she was. She was very easy to work with and very personable on top of that. I was beyond thrilled with her and the company.

Austin was amazing! He was so much more than a DJ. He helped with some of the little details I hadn't even thought about. His suggestions and expertise made the whole evening magical. Our guests loved him so much they are stll talking about it. Most of them didn't even want to end the party. His music selection was fantastic and the coaching he did with our bridal party really helped in making the toast perfect. He was easy to work with and flexible. I can't say enough about his great work. I can't wait to have the chance to use him again!

Although I've marked Colby under the DJ category, his services went way beyond just providing music for our reception. From the very first conversation, he provided invaluable insight and advice not on only the reception entertainment as we expected, but on many other aspects of planning. His experience and expertise came through immediately, and knew that we, and our guests, would be in the best hands on our wedding day. He was able to lead us through every detail, many of which we would have never thought of or considered. Colby also provided a microphone, speaker, and music for our outdoor ceremony, indoor and outdoor lighting for our reception, and even jumped in at the last minute to provide a microphone and speaker at our rehearsal dinner. Our venue had a power outage the night of our wedding, and Colby went above and beyond to try to resolve the issue, and to work around it. As venue staff and vendors were rushing around to move tables and equipment due to the loss of power, I think Colby was the only one who did so with a smile on his face, which really put me at ease and assured the guests everything was under control. Colby was able to get his equipment running on backup power and the night went on as close to plan as possible. He did an amazing job keeping all guests happy and engaged, and brought great energy to our event. Although when we hired Colby, we were more concerned about entertainment, Colby's experience, and genuine desire to ensure your event is a success, saved our event and were worth every penny!

I cannot say enough good things about Ryan. He made me feel completely comfortable planning a wedding from Florida and we had multiple phone conversations discussing what I wanted as far as the flow of the music for the wedding and his involvement as an MC. He delivered my requests to a T! During the reception he kept everyone on the dance floor the whole time and my husband and I received such great compliments about his receptiveness and music. Once the music started I didn't leave the dance floor all night! Thank you Ryan!

Colby was referred to us (luckily) by a friend of mine from high school. Colby was SO attentive and gave us so much of his time prior to the wedding that he was a friend before the ceremony, and I knew he cared about everything almost as much as we did. The uplighting was awesome, he basically operated as the wedding planner @ the ceremony as well. He is also an amazing DJ, can match beats to keep the party going and has a good feel for what to play to keep the peeps dancing. He also is a great musician himself and played acoustic guitar AND sang during dinner! - all in all he was awesome and if you don't use him you are taking a BIG risk.

We utilized Colby from Astounding Sounds to provide sound rentals and support, and I can confidently say that bringing Colby on to provide sound support for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. The following are highlights for the experience: 1. Sound Quality: The sound during the ceremony as fantastic. My mother officiated and we spent so much time perfecting our vows, so it was important that people clearly heard every word, and Colby made sure that happened. We also had live performances during the ceremony and reception, and everything sounded so great. We had a DJ too! Yep, sound was perfect for that too. Never once dipped or created feedback or sounded anything but perfect. 2. Customer Service: Colby was super helpful the entire time. My mother was the officiant, my friend was the ceremony musician, my wife and I were the reception musicians, and my wife's friend was the DJ - none of whom had performed at a wedding before. Colby was patient with each of us, helped us feel comfortable, and was a big reason why everything went off without a hitch. Also, Colby was kind enough to do a site visit of the venue prior to the wedding and not only helped clarify the sound setup, but offered us some GREAT ideas for our run-of-show even though he wasn't even MCing or DJing. He's a great guy who clearly just wanted to help us have a great day even though we were only paying for sound support.

Our DJ for the night was Ryan. Throughout the entire process he was very accommodating, polite and accessible. For the wedding itself, we had selected a handful of songs to be played and Ryan worked them all into his set. In addition, he did a great job at blending me and my wife's opposite music styles (hip-hop and country). The dance floor was packed all night with people 2-stepping, doing the wobble and there best MJ impersonations. I highly recommend Ryan and the Astounding Sounds and Lights crew. - JR

Colby of Astounding Sounds and Lighting was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He took the time to get to know my son and future daughter-in-law so that he could really tailor their reception to their personalities. Every detail was taken care of and Colby really kept the reception flowing perfectly and seamlessly. As for the music, it was superb! A perfect mix for young, old and in between. The dance floor was never empty and people were literally dancing until the very end just before the bride and groom left! The lighting he used transformed the space into something elegant and magical and gave it such great ambiance. I had so many of our family and friends rave about what an amazing wedding it was and Colby played such a huge roll in that. He truly helped make their reception the spectacular celebration of their dreams! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for any event. Best DJ ever!

Colby was so easy to work with and truly put my daughter at ease during the planning phase. He was a thoughtful Master of Ceremony, and an even more skilled at having our guests enjoy themselves on the dance floor. Just an excellent individual. I would recommend him to anyone!

We used Ryan Lee as our wedding DJ and couldn't be happier! My husband and I have different tastes in music and our biggest concern was having an hour block of one genre and an hour of the other. We shouldn't have worried at all! We let Ryan do his thing and he kept a great variety all night. I don't think the dance floor was ever empty. Ryan is very responsive and made planning easy and worry-free. Astounding Sounds also did our gobo. Definitely suggest one! You will not regret using Ryan as you DJ for any event!

From lighting to games, Colby Logan of Astounding Sounds kept the atmosphere fun, exciting, and at times simply elegant. He was forced to change the lighting scheme for the wedding last minute, and it looked more beautiful than we had envisioned. His musical skills and orchestration are the real deal. During the ceremony he wove six different songs together so they transitioned seamlessly as the wedding party walked down the aisle. For the reception Colby worked with my husband to prepare a playlist that would include mostly 80s music, with enough variety to keep guests of all ages on the dance floor. And whatever you do, be sure to play his Newlywed Game. It was a laugh riot. Thanks again, Colby. We couldn't have done this without you!

Ryan was our DJ and he did an amazing job of making sure that people were on the dance floor until the reception ended! We received so many compliments from people on how fun the reception was. Ryan also took the time to really listen to what we wanted for our reception music.

Colby was AWESOME!!! He took care of the music for the ceremony as well as the reception ... we met with Colby before the meeting to talk through the events of the evening ... he is very experienced in his field and very detail oriented! Colby was a blessing to my daugther's wedding and carried the night and kept everything in order. When we got to the reception I got to relax and enjoy as I knew Colby had everything handled! Colby Logan is the perfect wedding DJ. We hired him for our wedding in May and he beyond exceeded our expectations. During the planning, Colby had great suggestions and took time to get to know us so that he could play the appropriate songs that were meaningful to us. Jason from Astounding Sounds was amazing! He was very professional, always on time, excellent communicator, and very truthworthy. Not only did he listen to all our needs and wants during our meetings, he executed exactly what we wanted at our wedding. We didn't have to worry about a thing during the event. My husband and I LOVED working with Jason (aka DJ Jason Esquire)! From the first time we met him, we knew he was going to make our wedding exciting! Music was one aspect of the wedding we didn't really have many ideas about, but Jason looked through our most played list on our iPhones and talked to us and created the PERFECT playlist. He worked closely with us to plan out our reception and kept things moving. So many of our guest have asked where we found him and who he was because they too were impressed! Jason didn't take the mic and just talk and his mix of music was perfect for our mix of guests. We would HIGHLY recommend Jason and Astounding Sounds & Lighting to ANYONE! We also use Astounding Sounds & Lighting for cafe lights. It made the night so magical. We have some of the most AMAZING pictures taken underneath them. Some of the best money we spent because it set the mood for our whole reception.

I have heard nothing but positive things about Colby Logan, our DJ. Our guests loved him. The lighting was exactly how I wanted it and he was so accommodating. The bridal party introductions and newlywed game were definitely highlights of the night. Colby was very professional and fun to meet with. You could tell he really did his research before our wedding. We hope to have Colby at all of our future parties!

Austin did such a good job with the sound for my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception! We enjoyed him and appreciate everything he did for us! Astounding did an AMAZING job with the lighting and projector work! The reception space and venue looked one thousand times better with all of your awesome touches!

We had Colby Logan from Astounding Sounds &Lighting as the DJ for our daughter's wedding. He had the perfect mix of music and enthusiasm to help create a fun atmosphere for our guests. Colby is a superstar! He was the DJ for my daughter's wedding reception, and I can honestly say that it was so much fun that my family and guests are STILL talking about Colby and his talent to engage and entertain. I loved how he introduced the bridal party, and the newlywed game was a blast! The best part was the way that Colby got people out onto the dance floor -- by knowing the crowd and playing songs that make you want to get up and dance! I overheard several comments to the effect that "I've never seen this many people dancing at a wedding reception before." From a parent standpoint, I wanted a DJ who could entertain and get people to the dance floor. I also wanted a professional who would take the time to get to know my daughter and future son-in-law (and their taste in music) AND be in charge of the reception schedule so I could visit with guests. Colby met and exceeded all expectations! The night was PERFECT! Colby is AWESOME!!! I will be using him again for my next event!!!

Colby is fantastic. Absolutely incredible. I did not want to leave my reception because of the amazing job he was doing. Not only did he provide amazing DJ services, he also transformed both of the rooms we used with his lighting talents. He made two rooms that looked like sad, old cafeteria rooms into elegant event spaces. People actually gasped when they walked in and kept giving us compliments all night long. Colby played the perfect mix of music to keep both young and old, extroverted and introverted, dancers and non-dancers engaged, involved, and happy. Our dance floor was full and guest of different ages were mixing perfectly. He knows how to work a crowd and moved flawlessly through introductions, games, announcements, and more. He met with us beforehand to figure out our desires for every aspect of the event and acted as an event coordinator and planner in many ways. He is the reason that my event ran smoothly and was such a success. I cannot say enough about how much my husband and I loved Colby. I knew him before as a musician and music leader, and was astounded to see "Professional DJ Colby" side of him. He is just as amazing in his work as he is in real life. I recommend him to anyone for any type of event that you are having - Hands down the best DJ I have ever heard or met.

We knew Colby was an extremely talented and engaging DJ. He far surpassed our expectations for our daughter's wedding. He was amazing. Not only did he brave the drive during Dallas' worst ice storm, he made the reception so much fun. We all forgot about the bad weather for awhile. The dinner music was low key and suited conversation so well. The dance music was perfect for our diverse group. Our families and friends laughed, danced and really had a joyful experience. Colby - you are the best and we so appreciate the incredible effort you made to make our daughter's and son-in law's event so wonderful!

This is the second time I have used Colby Logan and his team at Astounding Sounds & Lighting; the 1st time was my daughters wedding in 2008. We love the way Colby runs the eveing without getting overly involved. He knows the wedding is about the couple and he doesn't take over. He reviews our requests prior to the event and follows through without any reservations. He is professional and dependable. He met with the bride and groom prior to their wedding to iron out details, asks for music requests and learn about the family dynamics. Overall I would use Colby and his team again and again, they are fantastic. I trust him to take care of all the little details and we didn't have to think twice about the evening where the lighting, introductions and follow through was concerned. Yes, I'm 100% sure I will use him again; possibly for my youngest son's wedding in the next few years. Thank you Colby!!!

When initially planning our wedding and making decisions about which vendors to hire, my father reminded me that “nothing is free in life, Natalie. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Because in the end, you get what you pay for.” And by hiring Colby Logan we got what we paid for. But it wasn’t until after our wedding that we understood fully WHAT IT WAS that we were paying for. By hiring Colby, we weren’t just paying for good music / entertainment; in addition to this (and more importantly) we were paying for the magical ambiance of our wedding reception, the smiles and laughter of our guests, and the joyful memories of ‘good times’ that guests are still remaking about, long after our actual wedding day. Now that our wedding is over, I have such a fuller appreciation for Colby’s work. He is truly an artist with an impeccable approach to his work. He spent time upfront in getting to know us, asking all the right questions to understand the personalities/preferences of those attending the wedding, and working with us to pre-plan the overall flow of the evening’s agenda. On the wedding day, he used all the background data he collected from us, in addition to his uncanny ability to read the crowd and adapt to their responses, to appropriately select the perfect combinations of music (type/tempo/volume), lighting, announcements, interactions with guests, and activities – throughout the entire evening. We had such a large group of people speaking languages from all over the world – and somehow Colby was able to tap into all of their preferences and comfort levels in one way or another to create a magical, memorable atmosphere where amazing times were shared by all.

Colby was the DJ at our wedding in McKinney and we could not have been more pleased with our choice to work with him. Not only did he do an excellent job of keeping our guests on the dance floor all night, we were very impressed with his ability to direct and plan the flow of our reception. He met with us twice during the planning period and was very organized and on top of ever detail. He did an excellent job on the lighting and he also played the guitar and sang during dinner (our guest loved it)! We highly recommend Colby.

Colby was amazing!!! He kept the dance floor jumping and his song mix was perfect for our crowd. We asked him to do a mix of songs for the mother/son dance and he nailed it. He made us look like superstars. His introduction of the wedding party and families was perfect, he's got a great voice. He delivered everything he promised...and more.

We had DJ Michael Gonzales for our bilingual Wedding Reception. He did great at the actual event and we have no complaints about that. He played the music we requested and all was great, we got the reception we expected and paid for. Our only complaint is that the DJ was very very hard to get in contact with after we paid for the service.. He didn't respond to emails.. We had our planner trying to get in contact with him also and she had a hard time too and at one point had to contact astounding sounds manager for assistance with reaching our DJ. The main way he communicated was through text and once I figured that out it was better. It was very stressful for months not knowing what was going on with our DJ and at one point we actually thought we were going to have to find a new one... To his defense he is a very nice young man who did a great job during the event and I'm sure he was just very busy like he said prior to.

WOW, Colby did a fantastic job at the Ashton Depot last Saturday. The uplighting was the perfect, warm, elegant glow that we had requested. Music selection & sound level was a sucess. I think it was a great party, when the dancing got started the dance floor was never empty! A fabulous sign in my book. There is something to be said about the classic wedding play list; oldies but goodies.....I loved that the dance floor was packed with all of the age groups. A lot of fun had by all! I couldn't be more pleased with how the evening went, it exceeded my expectations. You had great control of the evening, the playlist was perfect. I loved how the music/songs changed but no one left the dance floor. I've been to many weddings where the DJ or band has the party going then they play a song and the dance floor clears out and it's a challenge for the DJ or band to get the dance floor full & the party going again. We didn't have any "dead moments" on the dance floor; it was solid for the entire night. Thank you so much! I would highly recommend Colby for any event; we will certainly seek him out for future events.

DJ Colby Logan (Astounding Sounds & Lighting) was awesome! He was ready and willing to meet with us during the planning process and was flexible with the song choice changes that we made. He even made suggestions based on current popular music. Thanks to him, my husband and I walked into our reception to "Treasure" by Bruno Mars, and it was a hit! Throughout the reception, he played the right songs during dinner and kept guests on the dance floor afterwards. We had 2 different backgrounds coming together, and Colby played a great mix of Haitian kompa and American music (rock, hip hop, pop, etc.)! He also did our uplighting around the reception room at a very reasonable extra fee. We HIGHLY recommend him for your wedding!!!

We have used many dj' in the past but none have went above and beyond like Colby. He went above and beyond of what was expected. We had a very diverse group one very mexican side and a very white side lol. He was able to bring both sides together for one big party. He also made sure to include all family traditions and was involved the whole night. We received many compliments about his service. If you are looking for the best dj/mc for any event he is the way to go.

Colby was the most amazing DJ we could have asked for. Colby did both our DJ and lighting for the wedding. He was so professional and made sure night was a HIT. We also added the complication of band and Colby was wonderful with calling the band ahead of time to make a game plan. He was willing to meet us for events to help us find a band and even gave us a list of contacts. Colby is extremely knowledgeable about popular music and gives paperwork prior to the wedding (super easy and can be done on the computer) to assure a must have and must NOT list so there are no stresses the day of. Colby made sure the night ran smoothly and perfectly which it DID! Colby is amazing highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!

Colby was awesome! He made our kids’ wedding reception the best we’ve ever attended (including our own)! We have never seen a dance floor so consistently busy throughout the evening, and we attribute that to his getting the party started with the fun newly-wed game, fabulous MC-ing and especially, your great selection of music. If you're getting married in the Dallas area, you couldn't pick a better DJ.

Colby made our reception absolutely beautiful with the lighting, and we have gotten endless comments about what an incredible DJ he was- our guests loved his music selection, and I loved knowing that he had the entire reception schedule and atmosphere under control! He is worth every penny!

Ryan Lee was our DJ, and I don't have enough good things to say about him. He very graciously agreed to chat with me over the phone before we booked him (I was terrified of the stereotypical cheesy wedding DJ, and wanted to get a feel for him before we booked). Needless to say, he was great and I feel like he was one of the best parts of our wedding. He was totally open to any ideas we had and rolled with our very specific musical must-haves. My husband's taste in music is decidedly non-weddingy (he didn't understand why The Smiths and New Order weren't really reception music), so Ryan had him send in a playlist of songs he liked, and worked those into the cocktail/dinner music so that we were both represented and happy. I got so many compliments on the music during both the ceremony and reception. I feel like we would have paid twice as much for the service we got from him and still felt like we got a deal. Book him!!

Music was such an important part of our reception, and when we met with Colby initially, he had a certain confidence about him that put us at ease. Colby made our night amazing! He was so great at announcing our party, reading the crowd, and constantly playing song after song that got everyone on the dance floor! We had SO many people tell us that he was the best DJ and our wedding was the best and most fun they had ever been to, and we know Colby played a big part in that! Not only was Colby an amazing DJ, but leading up to the reception he jumped in and assisted the catering manager with day of coordination. Knowing he was my eyes and ears put me at ease and made the whole evening stress-free. I cannot thank him enough for going above and beyond. Colby is first class. He is such a fun, personable person to work with. He also does amazing lighting work. He knows exactly how to adapt to the needs of your wedding. He's not cheezy or over the top. He has high energy at the same time he is very classy. He made a wonderful host, kept everyone engaged and stuck to the plan we discussed.

Colby Logan with Astounding Sounds and Lighting was the ABSOLUTE BEST. When I started searching for a DJ, I was looking for something different. When I came across Colby Logan, I knew that I had to have him for my wedding!!! He was exactly what I was looking for: unique, classy, and professional. One of my favorite moments of my wedding is when Colby performed our first song acoustic. It was beyond amazing... everything I wanted and more. That truly is a memory I will never forget. He also has an uncanny ability to get a crowd going and keep them entertained. The lighting his company did for my wedding was BEAUTIFUL!! It completely changed the look of the room. Colby is not just the DJ; he's the emcee, wedding coordinator, and any other hat he can wear on your wedding day. We are so happy that Colby was able to be there for our wedding. Before the wedding we met with Colby a couple of times to talk about what we wanted for our wedding, songs, timeline, overall feel; making us happy was his main priority. The level of professionalism from him is exceptional and hiring him for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.

I'm telling you right now if you are looking for a DJ look no further. We used Colby Logan at our wedding on June 2 at Stonebriar Country Club. He did lighting as well. We had uplighting and spotlighting. When I walked into the ballroom for the first time I cried. It was absolutely above and beyond everything I could have hoped for....and that was before the party even started. From the moment the reception started, Colby had everyone up and moving. It was an amazing party. He did such a great job all night keeping our guests entertained and moving on the dance floor until the last song. It was INCREDIBLE!! I had so many of my guests RAVE about the DJ :) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Not only was Colby very professional and fun to work with, but he also took the time to get to know myself and my new husband. We were an out-of-state couple, and he always worked with our schedule and drove to wherever we were to meet. He played the best music for our crowd and was always one step ahead when working with our day of timeline. He is the BEST DJ I have ever worked with! Yes, I was the groom. I doubt there's a lot of grooms here that would sit down and write a review on wedding stuff. That should be your first sign on how good Colby is. Secondly, I actually registered this account with the Knot just for the purpose of writing this review. About a year ago, I had a lousy experience with iEntertainment (where they treated me in an extremely unprofessional manner while trying to book them), and we ended up talking with Colby instead. At the time, we were very upset by losing our "first choice" due to them booking another wedding while talking with us. However, it turned out to be one of the best things that happened with us in our wedding. I made it a point to meet with Colby when we started talking to him, and I immediately had a good feeling. Colby did a great job in getting to know and understand us and really made our wedding special. Frankly, I couldn't imagine our wedding without having him. His work during the wedding was no less than astounding. In fact, he was almost too good. He engaged our guests so much that I think fewer of them even SAW our photobooth (though he did announce it!). As a general piece of wedding advice--if your DJ is awesome, you may see less photobooth images. Looking back at things, I don't know if I would have even booked the photobooth because of how great Colby was. I don't think the dance floor was EVER empty. And that's pretty impressive, as Colby was thrown into a very difficult situation for a DJ to be in. My family doesn't dance at ALL, and my music tastes are a POLAR OPPOSITE from my wife's music tastes. (I like classic rock, alternative rock, and more indie rock and I'm extremely picky, and she likes top 40.) Colby PERFECTLY found the happy median and made it work great. Overall, let me summarize by saying this. If he's available, you'd be foolish NOT to book Colby. I have had multiple people come up to me after our reception and tell me that it was the best wedding that they had ever been to, and they weren't "just saying that." They would then proceed to tell me how amazing "the newlywed game" that Colby did with us was and how much better the whole experience was than other weddings they had attended. I thank Colby for all of this.

They did lighting and DJ/mc for my wedding as well as my older sisters. Colby is professional, personal, and made my reception flow beautifully! I have nothing but praise for Astounding Sounds!

We loved working with Colby! I had mishaps with all of my vendors except for him and it was nice to finally find someone who was so easy to work with. He met with us a couple of times before the wedding to make sure he knew exactly what our vision was and he definitely nailed it on the day! Everyone had a great time. He even had us play a game right before our toasts and we got the best pictures of our guests laughing during this. It was so much fun. I definitely recommend him and Astounding Sounds!
