Let's just say I didn't ask for something standard - I knew I wanted an orange jumpsuit and that was about it. Suzanne ran with the idea and the outcome was truly spectacular and unique. Everyone commented that it looked haute couture - because it was!
Suzanne at Atelier des Modistes designed and made my Mother of the Bride's dress, and it was spectacular. So many people have contacted me since the wedding to find out where I purchased it!
Lucky for me, it was one of a kind! I absolutely loved the experience of working with Suzanne, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the dress! I can't wait to wear it again!
Suzanne has the most beautiful collection of gowns to pick and choose from or design your own from the bottom up. The dress she made for me was an absolute smash at our wedding - I had friends raving for days! - and the materials she uses are only the lightest, best, most comfortable silks and lace. Would 100% recommend for any bride, or someone looking to make the dress of their dreams
Words cannot express how drop dead gorgeous my wedding dress was!!! Suzanne paid such special attention to detail and was so hands on from start to finish. She even made my mom's dress for the big day from scratch! Definitely check this amazing boutique out!!
Only being able to give 5 stars is an understatement of the experience you will have if you visit this wedding dress shop! In November 2014, I made 3 wedding dress appointments when my mom came to visit. When we walked into Atelier Des Modistes and met Suzanne Hanley, the owner and talented designer of these amazing gowns, we were immediately sold. It's not just the experience of picking out the dress, but also a calm feeling and connection we had with Suzanne. She just 'got me' and my simple style I was looking for. I was able to pick out 2 dresses from her line and she was able to combine them into my perfect dress. Suzanne makes these dresses from scratch, using the most amazing fabrics so you are guaranteed a perfect fitting dress. I think I had about 8 fittings over a 6-month period (more towards the end). Suzanne is a total perfectionist and she made sure everything was absolutely perfect. She also helped me pick out jewelry, my hair style and accessories, veil, shoes, etc. She helped me put together my whole vision and I could not have been happier with the result.
Wedding preparation is stressful, but choosing to get my dress at Atelier Des Modistes was one of my best decisions. There was nothing stressful about working with Suzanne. She knows exactly what to do and it's a really fun process from start to finish. Her dresses are high-end, made in the store using the best possible fabrics and materials. For the amount of work that went into creating my dress, I would say the price could have been a lot higher! There are a lot of dresses in other stores that are way more expensive that you buy off the rack so I would say it was worth every penny for the amount of TLC that went into my dress. I am recommending Suzanne Hanley from Atelier Des Modistes to all brides- you won't regret it!
Suzanne is the sweetest woman. She was so calm and she is so professional, I felt instantly more relaxed having her designing my gown.
A smart woman knows, that you do not buy clothes, you buy how you LOOK in clothes. A wedding dress is the most important clothing purchase you will ever make. I found Sue, the owner and designer of Atelier des Modistes in a bridal book, after many DEPRESSING weekends of looking for a dress. I am a size 16 (street size) which means size 20 or 22 in wedding dresses (what a stupid idea - because you really want to have a high number on your wedding dress) - anyway, I called Atelier des Modistes and asked if they had samples sizes in my size. They said that they didn't have actual wedding dresses but they had cotton versions - which I thought was a great idea.
I went to the shop and KNEW it was the place for me. I knew I didn't want an "off the rack" dress because I didn't want the same dress that someone else had. On our intital meeting, I could tell that Sue was a perfectionist and that any dress leaving that shop with her name on it would be perfect, and yes, that is exactly what I got, a PERFECT, UNIQUE, BEAUTIFUL dress, that was made just for me. The dress stayed on, there was no pulling or adjusting on my wedding day, because my dress fit ME!
If you are a bride, that realizes that you will be wearing your wedding dress FOREVER in the pictures then I will suggest that you have your dress made for you and ONLY YOU, by Sue, it will be the best money you spent on your wedding...
A friend had her dress made at Atelier des Modistes several years ago and I went with her for a fitting...I never forgot how special the experience was so it was the first place I went when I started shopping for my own dress. While it's not inexpensive to have a dress made, it's an incredible experience and the result is amazing. Your dress and the process of finding it has a big impact on your planning and how you feel at your wedding...I cannot suggest Suzanne and her shop more highly. She genuinely cares about making you look your best and is so incredibly talented. Oh, and fyi, she makes and sells gorgeous jewelry, too!
