Situated in balmy Key West, FL, Audubon House & Tropical Gardens is an idyllic wedding venue. The venue is rich in history, established in 1846 by Captain John Huling Geiger and recently restored after being saved from destruction. The tropical gardens provide a tranquil space to celebrate after you and your partner exchange vows. Moving to the house, the back deck with its classic vintage finish is the perfect backdrop for photographs. With elements particularly exciting to historians, artists, and botanists, Audubon House & Tropical Gardens can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone in your party.
The house, which was occupied by Captain Geiger’s family for over a century, is elegantly furnished in the style of its time. Emanating the wealth of its former inhabitants, the ambiance of the home can be felt throughout the venue. From its place in the ship-wrecking industry to its present-day importance in Key West’s restoration movement, the venue is full of character to enhance your wedding.
The serene venue can host up to 130 of your friends and family to join in the celebration of your special day. The back deck of the house itself is perfect for the ceremony, while the paved brick pathway leads the way to the gardens. Home to orchids, butterflies, and birds along with a variety of other plants and species, your guests will be wowed by the natural beauty of the space. The venue also features paintings created by its namesake, John James Audubon, to be relished by the art fanatics in your party. The venue also offers limited lighting and event rentals to create your perfect personalized wedding set-up.

We loved this place from the moment we walked in for a tour. So when we were looking for wedding venues in Key West, this was a must. Who wouldn’t want to get married in a beautiful tropical garden? The staff are so nice and helpful. Everything looked amazing for our wedding - it was a magical experience. Cannot say enough about this place! We will be back to visit!

This magical place truly was the perfect background for our wedding and it really set the vibe for the whole event. We fell in love with it when we toured it and our guests were just as amazed by this beautiful venue!

There’s really not anything I can say that hasn’t been said by other reviewers. I will start with the venue itself, it's stunning. The venue is the perfect combination of tropical oasis and wedding venue. I booked the venue sight unseen, and it was more beautiful than I ever imagined. The pictures do not do justice to the property. Aside from the setting, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Laura. Laura helped us bring our wedding vision into reality after a nearly three year Covid delay! She was absolutely amazing and was always there to answer any of our questions and offer her expert opinion. This venue is all around amazing.

Laura is the best!!!! I am writing this review a few months later but I remember everything like it was yesterday. Our wedding was Nov 2018. Laura was always available to answer any questions. She was extremely patient and helpful. The venue itself was magical! You really don’t need to add too much more because there is so much greenery and flowers around. I would LOVE to renew my vows in 5 years and have a party here again!!! It is just a perfect place for a wedding!

Working with Laura was an absolute pleasure. I planned my wedding from 1200 miles away and picked Audubon House sight unseen. Working with Laura made me confident it was the right place to have our wedding. She was attentive and on top of everything. Audubon House is truly the most beautiful place in Key West to have a wedding. The pictures don’t do it justice. Our guest can’t stop telling us how perfect our wedding was.

I actually reserved this sight unseen in July. We visited the venue in october for the first time and met Laura. We were blown away with how naturally beautiful the venue was. On the day we were not disappointed at all! The venue was intimate and breathtaking. Laura was a dream to work with and I am so glad I hired her for day-of services. She went above and beyond for us and the day would not have been the same without her. This venue provides that key west tropical vibe in an intimate and romantic way.

We chose Audubon House for our ceremony and reception. This was a destination wedding, so we chose the venue sight unseen and we were not disappointed. This venue is stunning, particularly if you prefer greenery/foliage to sand/beach. Our wedding was November 12, 2017, so I was particularly concerned when Hurricane Irma was headed for the Keys. Fortunately, Key West weathered the storm with not much damage. The Audubon House contacted us as soon as they were able to let us know the venue was just fine and would be ready for us on our special day. That were absolutely right! We could not have been more amazed and thankful for being able to hold our wedding at Audubon House!

When we walked into the Audubon House and Tropical gardens serene setting, we knew it was where we wanted to get married! The gorgeous gardens and the initial tour by Joanne sold it for us. It had the exact feel we were hoping for. The gardens are well covered by foliage so there was plenty of shade for a hot July day. The location is perfection, close to our guest’s accommodations (Hyatt Centric) and close to all the bars for the after party on our wedding night! The space was perfect, the ceremony took place on the porch and the band was set up behind that. We turned the porch into the dancing stage and everyone loved it! We had about 125 people in attendance and it felt full but not crowded for the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner, and then the dancing! I was concerned about there only being 2 bathrooms for that many people, but there were not issues – it was smooth sailing and no one had to wait long. Overall the venue exceeded my expectations, the sheer beauty was an amazing back drop for us to celebrate our wedding day and a place that we will continue to visit now that it holds so many memories. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Laura and Joanne at Audubon House were absolutely lovely people to work with. Once we booked with them they immediately provided us with a list of vendor recommendations and we pretty much went with all of them. They really know their stuff and the venue itself is just gorgeous with tropical flowers everywhere and beautiful lighting you hardly need much more decor. Highly recommend the Audubon House. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful it was.

We got married at the Audubon House and it was the most beautiful setting.
The Pros:
• The venue is so beautiful that no additional ceremony décor is necessary
• The venue rental fee is reasonably priced
• The ladies that run the Audubon House are kind and very easy to work with
• The rental fee is refundable in the event that rain forces you to another location
• Great location on Key West, close to nice hotels, nightlife and great photo opp. Spots
• There is so much canopy provided by the trees that a little rain will not even touch ground
• The grounds are well lit so there is no need to rent extra lighting
• All of the nooks make it easy to set up the different “areas” naturally
The Cons:
There really is no back-up plan for rain b/c they do not allow for tenting or sails (due to the antique brickwork and orchids in the trees) so you must secure a back-up location if there is a chance of rain
Tip:
I highly suggest hiring a planner/coordinator if you get married here. You will have to rent everything and all of those vendors will have to be coordinated on the event day. Additionally, your planner/coordinator will secure a back-up plan.

The Audubon House and Tropical Gardens was a perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. We planned everything from abroad and were unable to visit the venue beforehand. The photos and Google StreetView do not do it justice. The gardens and house are gorgeous and there are various sections for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance floor. The price was very reasonable and the staff were great to work with. For reference, our wedding was about 60 guests. We would highly recommend this venue.

This venue is beautiful and has a great old town key west vibe. At night the place was light up so beautifully. It was the perfect intimate place for us to have our wedding of 65 people. They really take great care of the gardens and the house is well maintained. The only reason why I give it 3 stars for service is because our original coordinator Lynne is no longer with the property. She was part of the reason we chose the venue. We felt confident she would help us execute our day flawlessly. No one informed us that she was gone and we had to scurry to find a coordinator last minute. Needless to say that was a stressful situation 2 months before our wedding. The new coordinator was not very friendly or as knowledgable about the property or weddings. We were rushed off the property during our rehearsal because they wanted to close up.They should probably tell people to set a earlier rehearsal time. They were well aware of our time so if it was a issue then that should have been discussed earlier. With that being said I would recommend the property but you will need a coordinator.

The Audubon House and Gardens was everything that envisioned for my wedding day. The gardens are so beautiful with all the landscape lighting at night. If you're looking for a venue that is casual yet very intimate in an outdoor setting, look no further. It was so wonderful. Loved everything.

Audubon House was a perfect place for us. It is a garden/museum facility. We held our reception (45 guests) in the gardens and was able to divide the space up for separate areas for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. We married just before sunset (we took off to the beach for sunset pictures) and dinner was held by candlelight. The wedding was in Nov. 2005, one week before hurricane Wilma hit the island. It was devestating to me. The island opened the weekend of our wedding. The facility went out of their way to prepare for us. Although the garden was not in it's glory, the lighting on the venue and our flowers made up for it. I was amazed by the effort made to make the place perfect for us.;The woman that ran the reception for the audubon house (not our caterer, who did most of the work) was very strict on some of her requests. We were happy in the end that we did not choose her to help coordinate our wedding.
