5 stars for the day of - The food and service from Austin Catering on the day of was truly OUTSTANDING. Our guests are still raving about the food, and it exceeded our expectations...
as well. The staff were all SO kind and accommodating to all our guests and also made sure we were taken care of and our drinks were full/we actually got to eat. They even packed up some of the food in to-go boxes for us to take with us after the event which was such a special and unexpected touch.
In the spirit of full transparency for other couples as they look to book vendors, we did not have the best experience with planning and communication from the sales management team. We had to follow up multiple times to receive a response and it often took 3+ weeks to get an answer back on straightforward questions. The sales manager often had the wrong details on our proposal when we finally received it back, and we felt a bit like an afterthought/the attention to detail for the money we were spending was not there.
We also felt that the pricing/costs provided were not transparent. We were being charged double tax and their service charge on our rentals through a different company, which was not clearly outlined in the invoice and added up to hundreds of dollars extra we were paying to have Austin Catering coordinate our rentals. If this had been more clearly communicated to us and the reason for this warranted, we would not have had an issue, but we were doing 95% of the work ourselves to coordinate the rentals so this felt a bit exploitative. We were also charged the tasting fee 6 months late-- We were aware of the fee, but once we booked with AC and were never charged we assumed they waived the fee like many other catering vendors we talked to. When we asked about the surprise charge, they told us they simply "forgot" to charge it to us initially. We felt this could have been an instance where since it was their error, they could have waived this. The food costs were also raised a few months out from our wedding, and the sales manager never called out the increase-- We did the math ourselves and when we flagged this to them were told they forgot to let us know.
All of this being said, we truly did have a wonderful day of experience with Austin Catering that more than made up for the hiccups leading up to. We don't share this to complain, but simply to let other couples know our experience and provide AC with honest feedback for improvement.

We were surprised by the affordability compared to several other major caterers in Austin. We had explored a few other caterers that offered a fixed selection of menu items, and Austin Catering had a large menu of favorites. But in addition to the items they make regularly, they will literally cook anything you want. We gave them a few of our favorite recipes which they were able to cook and serve at our wedding which helped make the event very personal. They were also very easy to work with in terms of accommodating guests with dietary restrictions and preferences. The execution on the day of our event was smooth. The team was professional and everyone raved about the food.

We had beef tenderloin, stuffed chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts for our wedding dinner and we also had a churro table with ice cream as a late night snack. Everyone loved the food and they made sure any food allergies were taken very seriously. They had the head chef come out and talk to my brother who has a dairy allergy to make sure he felt taken care of & that his meal was what he wanted. We also had some service team members with us checking in on us the whole reception to make sure we were never without a drink in our hand and bringing us desserts and whatever we'd like. We had 160 guests and with 2 buffet tables, they were able to get everyone their food within 25 minutes. We also had a few guests not show up, and Austin's allowed some of our extra hungry guests to get seconds since we had the extra food. The servers were very kind and even passed out champagne to everyone before our toasts. My husband and I were at a sweetheart table and had a server come to us a few different times to make sure we had everything we needed and didn't have to move to get anything. At the end of the night, they sent us (the bride and groom) home with a big bag of leftovers to eat in our hotel room since they know it's rare to have time to eat! On the day of the wedding, everything was set up perfectly and the food came out on time, at the perfect temperature and, most importantly, it was *delicious*. We heard from so many guests that they loved the food and K.D made sure that we (Bride & Groom) were pampered and taken care of. We always had someone checking in with us, bringing us drinks, making sure we had everything we needed. We also have to give a shout-out to the servers and staff - everyone was so kind and courteous. The cherry on top of the cake was that they prepared a to-go bag for us and made sure it was in the getaway car at the right time. the food was at our wedding. It was probably my favorite food of any wedding I’ve been to (okay maybe I’m biased, but we got a couple compliments to that effect.) Day-of food was even better than I remembered it when we visited for a tasting. Kristin was great and easy to work with, responded to our questions quickly. We had some anxiety about the peculiarities of our venue but Austin Catering really made everything run incredibly smooth. Day-of staff was top notch in every respect (particularly Mervin, who was above and beyond.) The bartender helped our friend re-tie her high heels. Absolutely exceeded expectations, we couldn’t have been happier.
