Avalon Jazz Band

Avalon played at the ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner at our wedding at the Mohonk Mountain House on Memorial Day weekend 2016. From beginning to end, we had a wonderful experience. We hired Avalon after learning about all their experience at the Mohonk and particularly, at the Pavilion venue of the Mohonk. The Pavilion has sound restrictions (particularly, no amplification or drums allowed) so we wanted a group that could work with these limits. Avalon’s videos on Youtube were helpful to learn about the type of sound we wanted. We worked closely with the band manager Clarisse. She was very responsive, and helpful. When we brainstormed how to make the fun dancing experience we wanted even with the sound restrictions, Clarisse came up with creative ideas. It was also very easy to edit the contract as we had a better idea over the months what we needed (I think I edited the contract four or five times!) She took calls over the weekend to help coordinate and was very informed about the band sound system and electrical needs. We had a solo violin at the ceremony, and a five-piece band at the cocktail hour and dinner. The band was very professional and the logistics were handled very easily, even though the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner were at different locations. Everything was seamless. At the dinner, the band created a fun, lively atmosphere that was romantic and elegant. Miriam is a very talented singer and the band played wonderfully. The band takes a 10-minute break every hour but put on a recording during the break so all went well. We also had a family friend sing a song and the band accompanied her! Avalon in many ways made the wedding come together. We were very pleased and whole-heartedly recommend them.

We are thrilled that we hired Avalon Jazz Band for our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and first dance. The band gave our wedding exactly the fun and romantic atmosphere we wanted. We will always remember our first dance to the sound of Tatiana's voice. Our guests loved the music too; they continue to compliment us on picking Avalon, but really we owe it to the musicians for their terrific performance. The band arrived early, worked seamlessly with our other ceremony musician and our DJ, and took care of all logistical issues so that we didn't need to think about them on our wedding day. Clarisse was responsive, easy to work with, and patient with our many questions. We are so excited to continue to see their performances live throughout the city and to get to thank them in person.
