We had a very comfortable stay in the king cabin for a few nights. The interior design was absolutely beautiful. The complimentary breakfast was phenomenal! The service was courteous, attentive, and very accommodating throughout our visit.

Location is convenient, close to Stowe Mountain Resort and many attractions and restaurants in town. Highly recommend staying here and will definitely choose this place again when I'm back in the area.

We stayed here for our Anniversary and it was awesome! The room was modern and very cozy. The hotel was located in the middle of Stowe, Vermont so finding a good place to eat isn't hard to find. The fire pit outside along with the hot tub and s...
auna were also amazing. Overall, we would definitely comeback to a future trip in Stowe. On the side note, the breakfast spread is so good, just hits like home!

My husband and I recently stayed a couple nights at AWOL Stowe. The location is excellent - just outside downtown Stowe, but an easy walk or drive to shops and restaurants. The lady who worked the morning shifts was very warm and fun to talk wi...
th. The bones of the property are very nice, but I found it to be lacking beauty masked as minimalism.

I would give AWOL Stowe 3.5 Stars.
Pros:
-Location! Walkable to lots and a short drive to everything there is to enjoy in Stowe.
-Breakfast is so delicious. Homemade bread with lots of toppings to enjoy. There was also protein every day to sna...
ck on - smoked salmon, hard boiled eggs, a frittata, prosciutto, etc.!
-Room was nice and cozy. We stayed in a King Jr. Suite for 3 nights and enjoyed the entry way to drop our boots in as well as the comfy couches.
Cons:
-We were disappointed in the amenities at this "adults only escape". The outdoor hot tub was closed the entire time we were there. When checking in, we were told we had access to neighboring and family friendly Cady Hill Lodge amenities (which I am not sure is always the case or just because of the broken hot tub). This was an okay alternative, but a huge difference from an adults only outdoor hot tub steps from our room. It was also frustrating that the front desk didn't tell us the hot tub was broken, we had to specifically ask. In addition, the outdoor wood fire pit was not lit until our 3rd day there. The other gas fire pit was lit nightly, but barely shoveled out or maintained which made it a bit tough to enjoy. We also asked the staff to preheat the sauna for us twice and didn't get a response either time. While our amenity fee was refunded (and greatly appreciated!), we were frustrated that the broken hot tub wasn't communicated ahead of time. If it had been, I could've booked Cady Hill for far less money per night since we were already walking there each day for amenity use. While none of these things are an absolute deal breaker, they were the reason we chose to book the AWOL Stowe over other similar hotels in the area. I would recommend calling ahead of time if the advertised amenities are also of importance to you!
-Drinks in the lobby are pricey! Even coming from someone who lives in Manhattan, it was hard to stomach an $18 cocktail especially when the room price was already so high ($500).
-It snowed 5 inches the day we arrived and the grounds could've been maintained better. We ended up parking closer to Cady Hill each day because their driveway was actually plowed.
-Bathroom is absolutely freezing. Hot water was hit or miss depending on time of day showering.
FYIs:
-You will have to go outside to get to the lobby/lounge regardless of room type. Make sure to bring comfy (+ warm) clothes for this especially if staying in the winter!

ich was super convenient. We loved the wood fire in our room.
Our only critique would be that the hot tubs were closed during our stay. It’s understandable that with heavy snow fall they may not be operational. However, we booked our stay back in October and one of the reasons why was the sauna and hot tubs on site. We were snowboarding all weekend and hoped to enjoy the hot tubs each evening. The staff did provide a solution by saying their sister hotel had a pool and hot tub that we were able to use. Another reason we had booked AWOL was because it is a child free place, the sister resort was not kid free, so we didn’t end up joining the multiple families at the indoor pool and hot tub.
During our stay I received multiple updates via text message with information about our stay, but not once were we informed the hot tubs would be closed.
I would have appreciated a heads up in advance, or a possible reduction in the cost of the stay considering it did not include everything listed in the amenities upon our booking.
We would definitely stay again, but if you’re staying during the winter months I would suggest calling ahead if the hot tubs matter to you ;)
