I had my wedding here and it was such a dream! Brittany and Celina are incredibly helpful and were communicative and proactive every step of the way. While my wedding was one of their first big events they were such professionals at every step in the process. This venue is so unique and perfect for a wedding. We had around 130 guests and had our ceremony in the main entrance area and used the outside decks for the reception. However, there are so many different spaces to make it perfect for whatever size event you're planning. The space is so exquisite, it feels like you're in the middle of the forest even though you're steps of Sunset. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable. It was also surprisingly affordable for an LA wedding and the staff went above and beyond to help accommodate me and my family. I highly recommend having your wedding here!
Summary
- Excellent team (from manager to server), even better food & drinks, a beautiful venue. If we were to host another wedding, we would definitely go back to Bacari.
Pros
- The team gave us real suggestions that matched our wants and needs. They never tried to upsell.
- Brittany and Celina (our main coordination contacts) and then Jordan (restaurant GM) were super great with email, phone and in-person communication.
- The existing setting was already perfect, so there was minimal extra decoration or logistics we needed to provide or rent ourselves (ie, chairs, tables, heat lamp, decor candles, lighting, trees, restroom, audio speakers, all already existed there). The only things we needed to bring ourselves were table flowers and gift box.
- Bacari is a great full-service restaurant to begin with, so the food and drinks were much higher quality than a venue that has to bring in caterers separately. All the guests kept saying how the food was better than their own weddings. And because Bacari does small plates, we ended up serving 8 different dishes, which was a big change for weddings where the guests can only choose 1 of 3 protein options.
- Kudos to Chef Kevin and Chef Patrick for customizing 3 of the 8 above dishes for us. We requested food from our cultural background that they had never made before and honestly, each of those 3 dishes came out so good that I think they could become just a part of Bacari's permanent menu.
- The servers and bartenders were great, attentive and checked in frequently on the guests (not just the wedding party).
- We DIY-ed our wedding because that is our style and Bacari was super accommodating. They are great for the DIY couple but I think they would also be great for non-DIY weddings.
Con
- The built-in audio system was working great up through the first dance. Then after, it kind of blew out and only low volume music would come through for the rest of the dance. I know they tried their best to resolve, but the built-in audio never quite worked again for the rest of the night. To Bacari's credit, though it took a while (they kept trying to troubleshoot the system) they did end up bringing in a portable speaker and at least we could hear the music again. Bacari is a restaurant not a tech shop, so I don't fault them too much on this as they did kept trying to fix the audio system. Now that they have a backup speaker, I think things would run much smoother in the future if this happened again.
