I was absolutely thrilled with Balsam Lake Lodge for our wedding venue. I really wanted a place that felt like you were “up north” and right on the lake. Many of the lake venues in MN felt like fancier, hotel-type spaces and were significantly more expensive. Balsam Lake was the perfect size for our guest count of 75, we were able to have our ceremony right in front of the lake, the reception/dinner space is a perfect “cabin” feel, and the great outdoor patio space is what really sealed it for me. A big fire pit to sit around, an outdoor bar, string lights across the patio, space for our musician, and the lake as the backdrop! The 10 rooms on site also worked perfectly for our immediate family members to be able to stay with us.
I was little nervous that the venue remains open to the public and what that would look like for our reception with wanting to be outside on the patio, but it was totally fine! We had a fall wedding, so it was quieter for other guests visiting, and with all of those people there for the wedding you really do fill up the space.
Kelly was so wonderful to work with in planning everything and Natalie did a great job day/of making sure everything went smoothly. It honestly felt so easy to plan and we were well supported with set-up and decorating. Everything really turned out as I had pictured and hoped it would, it truly was the best day!
Balsam Lake Lodge is such a beautiful place for a wedding! The lake views make a gorgeous backdrop, and the food was absolutely delicious… one of the highlights of the celebration. The hotel rooms were clean, comfortable, and so convenient for staying right on-site.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the visit. From dinner service to the hotel stay, they made everything feel easy and well taken care of. Highly recommend the Lodge to anyone looking for a wedding venue with great food, wonderful service, and a beautiful setting!
