We will forever love the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa! We were married on the Bayview Lawn on a beautiful Friday in June. The views were absolutely breathtaking. From the time we checked-in to check-out, we were incredibly pleased with how friendly the staff was. Our wedding coordinator, Briana was so helpful and put all of our worries to rest. It was a perfect day/weekend!
We are so glad that we chose the Bar Harbor Inn for our wedding day. We are from out of town, and so we also chose to have our Rehearsal Dinner and after morning brunch at the venue. We had close to 80 guests from out of town attend our wedding, and the Bar Harbor Inn staff made us feel so special as they took care of us and hosted our guests for the entire weekend. It was really nice to be the only wedding happening that weekend as well!
The wedding staff was kind, informative, and pleasant to work with throughout the whole wedding planning process. On our wedding day, we were blown away by how seamless everything seemed to run, and we didn't have to worry about anything! The staff was flexible and communicative, and we were so glad to have them as partners. Shout out to the Spa for doing my bridal hair, which came out beautifully!
Our wedding ceremony took place on the lawn and was absolutely breathtaking. We had our reception indoors in the Reading Room and it was the perfect size to host our wedding guests for the meal and dancing.
We're no strangers to the Bar Harbor Inn, as we've visited several times before, but now it has a very special place in our hearts, and we will continue to return for the rest of our lives.
To say that we are obsessed with this venue would be an absolute understatement. From the moment we set foot in BHI for our venue tour, my husband and I knew that this place would be very tough to beat. It had everything we were looking for in our venue. Lots of natural beauty with a classic/vintage nautical Maine vibe and the bonus part was their rich history as a member of the Bar Harbor/MDI area. We absolutely loved all the vintage newspapers, photos and maps that were displayed everywhere.
Every single member of the staff, from the event coordinator to the valets and bellhops were not only complete professionals, but also incredibly friendly and warm. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Briana, who was there for us on every step of the planning process, happy to answer any questions and help provide us with options and Jared, who supported us during the rare times that Briana was unavailable. During our wedding rehearsal, Briana even identified a small muddy area on the ceremony lawn and opted to cover the space with wood planks, green cloth and some of our floral decor to ensure nobody got their heels caught or muddied their dress on the wedding day.
Arguably, the most important thing about the BHI is how much our guests enjoyed their time there as well. Every single person I spoke to during or after our wedding, has had nothing but wonderful things to say about the venue we chose. After months of gushing about this place, I’m so happy they all felt the same way that we did. This was also especially important to me because our guest count was large enough to only fit in the Reading Room which is only available between 11:30am-4pm. I was initially apprehensive about a daytime wedding, but I’m so happy I didn’t let that deter us from choosing this place.
All this to say, I cannot recommend this venue enough and my husband and I are already planning a trip back to relive all our wedding memories.
Our wedding at the Bar Harbor Inn was a dream. Sue and Brianna made both planning and the wedding day a breeze. We also hosted a lobster bake as our rehearsal dinner in the pool house, which was absolutely perfect. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful, perfect venue. Food, service, views were all incredible.
Sue and Briana were a dream to work with in the weeks and days leading up to our wedding - truly can't imagine anyone kinder or more helpful. They made the lead-up to our wedding as stress free as humanly possible and kept everything running so smoothly day of. In no small part thanks to them, we couldn't have been happier with our choice of venue. The grounds of the Inn were just stunning, the view couldn't be beat, the food (and cake!) was delicious... We were initially reluctant to do a daytime wedding, but went for it due to how much we loved the space and views. Ended up being really lovely, especially as we were able to treat our guests to a sail on the Margaret Todd schooner in the evening, as Sue suggested. If you want a gorgeous classic venue that will make you and your guests feel so special down to the smallest detail, can't recommend here more highly.
Wedding planning can be a stressful task. Wedding planning in the year 2020 is downright formidable, and I'm not sure we could have had our dream destination wedding without Sue and Briana at Bar Harbor Inn. While our wedding was small, they continued to give the same level of service and attention to detail as if we had 500 people attending. Planning from afar, the devil was in the details of communication, and Sue was always quick to respond, even if the reply was that she recieve our question and would research further to answer for us. From holding items that we shipped, to helping display and decorate the space with those items, to helping us every step of the way, we couldn't ask for more. The ceremony spot was something out of a dream as the sun set on the ocean behind us, and the reception spot was the perfect amount of space for 20 person party. We were even able to hook up the projector to play mario kart! And don't even get me started on the food. We both met in a he culinary program, so tend to be a bit of foodie snobs, and we were quite worried about how the food would taste considering we didn't get to go to a tasting beind so far away. We had NOTHING to be concerned about. Everyone raved about the food, the chicken was moist and flavorful, the fish was cooked perfectly, and I was told the vegan cakes were inspiration for dinner later on. And, my gosh, I wish I had another stomach just for the cake. We have tried to recreate the salted caramel buttercream to no avail, so if anyone would like to slip me a secret recipe, I would be forever thankful.
But here's where they go above 5 star status, and trust me if I could give 6 I would:I was so caught up in the day's activities I just simply wasn't hungry at the reception. They boxed up my meal for me to go, and you think that alone would be enough, but no! See, I ended up FORGETTING my meal at the inn, and once I got back to our (different) hotel, I was devastated. They personally DROVE MY MEAL to a our hotel OVER A MILE AWAY. When we got the phone call from our front desk, I literally could not believe my ears. I ate it the following night and it was just as good as the few bites I had taken the night before. Now THAT is another, unheard of level of service.
There was a mini faux pas when it came to receiving our items back, which I only mention just to bring balance, and if that was the only blimp on an otherwise perfect day, I will take it. You will not be disappointed having your wedding at this venue, Sue and Briana did more than I could have ever expected to make our dream a reality.
Due to COVID-19, husband and I opted to do a small elopement at the Bar Harbor Inn. Even though it was only the two of us, the wedding coordinators Sue and Briana made everything special. They were wonderful to work with and very helpful. We live in Texas so planned everything over the phone/ through email. We loved the location, property was beautiful. All in all it was a great experience, and we plan to go back for our anniversary .
I couldn't possibly have better things to say about our experience getting married at the Bar Harbor Inn. Sue and Denise are wonderful people, and total professionals. They are flexible, organized, creative, and really care about making your wedding experience perfect and low-stress! When things come up unexpectedly, they are flexible and positive. Our ceremony of about 70 people went off without a hitch. The setting is immaculate, right on the ocean with the Porcupine Islands in the background (very cool when the Margaret Todd, a 4-masted schooner, sailed behind us mid-ceremony too). Photo ops galore! Sue made the perfect recommendation for the rehearsal dinner - Bar Harbor Lobster Bakes, right down the road, fabulous! - as well as photographer, musicians, and other vendors. She gave honest food recommendations, including when things were not necessary (which really gained my trust). Essentially everything about the experience was the way we wanted it to be. We should give a special shout-out to the food, incidentally... we selected the surf-n-turf with garlic mashed potatoes, maple butter salmon with red potatoes, and a chickpea cake vegetarian dish. For cake - and to be clear, Janice Strout is the best on the island - we went vanilla buttercream with blueberry puree. A large number of guests told us it was the best food and the best cake they have ever had. For appetizers, while the fruit cones and latkes fell a little flat, guests absolutely raved about the lobster grilled cheese, mini beef wellingtons, and assorted puff pastries. For music, we actually had Bob, who plays piano for normal happy hour and brunches at the hotel, play his wonderful assortment on the piano (he's incredibly talented and reads the room perfectly). When we didn't have some items that the hotel had for normal use, Sue and Denise let us use them for free. Bottom line, if you're looking for an amazing backdrop, amazing food, and amazing people who will keep your stress levels low and go the extra mile for you... well, you won't find anything better. :)
The Bar Harbor Inn & Spa made each step of the way easy. My husband and I live in NC, so ours was truly a destination wedding. Sue, Nicole, and the rest of the team made our experience easy - from menu suggestions to decoration ideas for the room. They worked with us and calmed our jitters. When our wedding day arrived, everything was flawless. The food was amazing, our cake was beautiful, and every detail was better than I imagined. Everyone in attendance commented on the perfection of the reception. We were thrilled and highly recommend having your event at the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa. Dana and Sterling Gower.
If you're on the fence; I'm telling you to book your wedding here. Sue, my coordinator, at the Bar Harbor Inn was amazing! My husband and I had our fairytale wedding, which we planned from out of state (not fun). She handled my bridal stress in stride and was nothing short of kind and professional. The venue is beautiful. The only downside is I wish it could have all lasted forever, because the reception and food and staff were all so amazing!
My hair and makeup artist, Darcy, also did an incredible job. I had an meltdown from anxiety in her chair and I still looked amazing because of her talents.
I plan to come back many times to the Bar Harbor Inn in the future to relive the memories. Thank You to the Bar Harbor Inn for an incredible day!
Truly love this place, has my wedding here and it was a dream! Thank to all the kind staff and for sue and Nicole . Truly helped us in making our day special !!
I booked bridal services at The Spa at Bar Harbor Inn because they had the best prices of anyone I found in the area who offered services on a Sunday. Amanda the manager was great to work with as we planned the day- I sent photos and she helped me order sparkling wine and sandwiches. When we arrived, two people were taken to the hair and makeup chairs which are on different floors, which was a bummer because we couldn't all be together. The sparkling wine also wasn't there and took a few back and forths to get the right order after they brought sparkling cider, and Amanda wasn't there initially so I wasn't sure how to answer some questions about which wine I ordered as I only saw one on the spa menu I was sent beforehand which was different than what they showed me in-house. The sandwiches were tasty but there weren't any clean dishes or glasses to use, but we had a few people who couldn't make it and the salon was nice and brought us boxes to take leftovers. The makeup artist and hair stylist were very friendly though, but again I wish we could've all been closer together/on the same floor and not split up. I did not do trials and my hair was a little tighter than I would've liked but it looked good so all in all a pretty good experience!
This is the place to marry! The staff were wonderful, professional, prompt with any needs and made our wedding weekend perfect in every way. What a memorable and beautiful day, couldn't have asked for a more smooth ceremony and reception. Love the Porcupine Room, it was wonderful on the balcony at sunset after the ceremony. Perfection!
I am so beyond pleased with my wedding this past June. Bar Harbor Inn provided a full staff of highly trained professionals to run the event. From the moment I met them, I knew I was in great hands. Everything was amazing- the food, the service, the view, and the general atmosphere. I wish I could turn back time just to do it all again! AMAZING!
My husband and I got married here on August 11, 2017. Our day was everything we could have dreamed of and more. Thank you to the amazing coordinators who made every detail flawless and stress free. I would choose the one Bar Harbor Inn over and over again. Our guests still talk about how beautiful it was. - Paige and Jacob
Jessica, Nicole, and the entire staff at the Bar Harbor Inn helped turn our wedding dreams into reality! From the very beginning they were readily available to answer our questions, and provide us with guidance as we planned our destination wedding. The venue is gorgeous, affordable, and has a wonderful historic background. Our guests fell in love with the Inn just as much as we did! Every staff member was kind and professional, especially the team at the Spa! My bridesmaids and I felt like royalty getting ready the day of. All-in-all our wedding day was absolutely perfect, start to finish, and Jessica (our awesome Day-Of Coordinator from the Inn) kept everything running smoothly. Thank you so much to the staff at the Bar Harbor Inn for our perfect day that we will treasure for a lifetime.
Needless to say, we look forward to returning to visit again in the future!
Amazing! That is the best word to describe their contribution to our big day. I was married here last week, and Nicole and Liane were truly amazing. Without them, I don't know what I would do. I had a small wedding with about 23 people total. We booked the Porcupine Room and had our ceremony on the lawn. It was so affordable (for a wedding) to book this room. The service was fantastic, the hotel and its grounds are beautiful, and my wedding day was truly hassle-free thanks to Nicole and Liane. I seriously can't give them enough credit. I can't wait to come back and visit. We're already planning a 2-year anniversary here!
The Bar Harbor Inn is a gorgeous venue where you can get food, linens, and cake all in one package. It made things easy and was a great value. The only problem we ran into was the coordinator was hard to get a hold of and on the wedding day, certain elements were left incomplete. For example, our sweetheart table was supposed to have the bouquets from the wedding party put on the table but they were left off. Apparently, they had not received the bouquets after the ceremony. However, instead of asking us for them, that detail got ignored. My dad had to retrieve the bouquets and I put them on the table myself. Also, we would email the coordinator and not receive a message back until a week later (if at all). Often, I would have to call/email a second time. The morning of, the coordinator apparently did not communicate with the Hair Dressers in the spa very well and we had to make our Mimosa's ourselves since no one was there to set things up for us. Overall, we had an amazing time at our wedding. The food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful, my hair looked perfect, and our cake was incredible. They also made extreme accommodations for us as far as ensuring my new husband, who has a lot of food allergies, could eat on our wedding day. We really couldn't have had a more perfect day.
The Nicole, Melissa, and the rest of the staff at the Bar Harbor Inn were wonderful to work with. They were responsive and very helpful. Additionally, as a same-sex couple, the staff treated us with dignity and respect.
The venue was lovely. The outdoor wedding space over looking the harbor and the Margaret Todd Schooner was beautiful despite being overcast. The Reading Room was also beautiful with the panoramic views of the bay. This was the selling point for us. We opted for the brunch which was delightful. Their wedding cake vendor, Celebration Cakes by Janice Strout, was awesome. We were delighted that the wedding cake both looked good and was tasty! Our guests also commented on its tastiness.
The guest rooms at the Inn in certain sections were a bit dated looking. However, the main areas in the Inn were nice. Instead of a rehearsal dinner the night before, we invited guest to join us for a sunset cruise on the Margaret Todd Schooner. This was a great event to see our friends and family together the night before the wedding. The proximity to downtown Bar Harbor was also great. I would recommend the venue to others.
We got married at the Bar Harbor Inn this August and everything was fantastic! Nicole and Melissa, the sales and event coordinators, were amazing throughout the planning process; they were very responsive, professional and made me feel like everything was under control.
On the wedding day everything went smoothly and without a hitch. Nicole and Melissa made sure that everyone was where they needed to be and that everything was just the way we wanted it. The food was delicious, the cake was beautiful, and every one had a great time!
Also, you can't beat the views at the Bar Harbor Inn. The lawn overlooks the harbor and the large schooner (Margret Todd) sails by during the ceremony which makes for great pictures. Overall, I am so happy that we chose to get married here! I can't imagine a more beautiful or elegant place for a wedding!
If you want a low stress turnkey wedding the Bar Harbor Inn is your place. I can not tell you how many compliments we still get on our wedding. The wedding planners at the Bar Harbor Inn really did everything they could for us to make this as awesome as possible. The venue was absolutely gorgeous. We had our wedding on the lawn and couldn't have asked for a better view. Dinner was absolutely spectacular. We saved money on decorations too. The Bar Harbor Inn has flowers and lanterns on every table already so we were able to save a ton on flowers by using their arrangements. The florist on site even went so far in to match our wedding colors. The wedding planners we so helpful - the day before our wedding my mother decided that she didn't like the desert we ordered any more, Nicole told her just to pick a new one off the menu and had a single desert made for her. We don't have a single regret about our venue choice and plan on going back each year for our honeymoon.

The Bar Harbor Inn was a great place to stay -- they gave us complimentary Sparkling Cider as a wedding gift and kept our room spotless throughout the week. I also recommend The Reading Room Restaurant and a seat by the window.
The Bar Harbor Inn was my dream location for my wedding as it is our favorite vacation place. The staff (Nicole and Melissa) were very attentive to every detail and made our day even better than we could have dreamed of. The venue, the food and sevice were outstanding. We would highly recommend this location to anyone.
They had excellent service in preparation for my beach wedding in Bar Harbor. I used the spa and har a pedicure done. It was relaxing and quiet and the people were nice.
We really enjoyed our preparation. They took us in at the last minute which was nice as well!
The backdrop was beautiful, the Inn was vintage and we had everything we needed for our day!
Such a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding! Due to their dinner service at the inn, receptions held in the Reading Room must end by 4:30pm but it worked out perfectly. With an early morning ceremony and afternoon reception, everyone was able to enjoy the sights and sounds of coastal Maine. The staff, especially the event planner and group manager, were super friendly and extremely helpful. Any questions or concerns were addressed in a timely manner. The reception room is elegant and the circular floorplan with large windows overlooking add to the atmosphere. The hors d'oeuvres and the cake/cupcakes were phenomenal. As a budget-conscious bride & groom, the Bar Harbor Inn was the ultimate location, meeting and exceeding our expectations!
we stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa for our honeymoon and thought it was wonderful. We got upgraded to a great suite and was given complimentary champagne from the hotel. We cant wait to go back for our one year anniversary.
The staff was helpful and friendly, food was great and you can't beat the view
we stayed here for our wedding night as a surprise from our parents and it was awesome!! I've been going to Maine every year since I was little and have always wanted to stay here. The room was so nice with a fireplace, and the views oh my gosh.....so beautiful! They set our bed with treats that our parents left at the front desk! They really went out if there way to make it special!
had my wedding there and it was amazing.
This is the best place in Maine!
My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at the Bar Harbor Inn. Our event coordinators Dede and Nicole were amazing, calling and emailing often as the date approached and we planned last minute details from Boston. The ceremony site on their front lawn in front of the harbor was ideal and we used very few flowers as we didn't want to detract from the natural beauty of the area. The staff was all friendly and helpful and the day went off without a single hitch. I would strongly recommend using this location.
The people at the Bar Harbor Inn were wonderful to work with. They took care of everything... no need for a wedding planner! The inn was gorgeous and service great.
