Congratulations on taking your next step and landing on my page!
I believe that a marriage ceremony is a sacred rite of passage that ushers you into a new stage of your life. As a global ritual expert, author of "The Joy of Ritual", and interfaith minister, I have been honored to create ceremonies that reflect the individual love stories of my couples from all over the globe. Whether you choose an intimate setting in your backyard or local park or an elaborate celebration with hundreds in an upscale hotel or destination wedding, I provide individually crafted ceremonies with your unique needs in mind. For over 25 years I’ve midwifed hundreds of couples in this sacred ritual from all backgrounds, faiths, sexual orientations and traditions.
I am comfortable drawing elements from nature, Judaism, Hinduism, Hawaiian Shamanism, Native American traditions, Christianity, Buddhism, Wicca, Yoruba, and Islam.
I am also available to preside over commitment ceremonies and vow renewals.
I am based in New York City, but also am available for destination weddings.

edding in Austin, TX. She personalized our ceremony so beautifully; she took her time to get to know what our faith/spirituality is, what we wanted in or left out of the ceremony, and what was of special significance to us in our lives, relationship, and symbolically. She stayed in easy communication throughout all the preparation leading up to the ceremony-- including adjusting the ceremony to the venue's extra requirements I found out about just a few weeks prior.
All her preparation came together so beautifully on the day of. Our guests were in tears! We had so many of our friends and family come up to us and say that our ceremony was one of the most beautiful ones they'd ever been to. We definitely recommend Barbara Biziou!! Thank you so much, Barbara- you made our wedding ceremony so moving and magical!

ian. Our intention was to weave traditions from the two religions together. Barbara designed the perfect program for us. She even researched Hawaiian traditions, which we incorporated as well. Her personal touches really enriched the entire experience. Her delivery was beautiful, a perfect balance of tradition, humor, and authenticity. Our guests were beaming during the entire ceremony and some even told us that the ceremony inspired them to renew their own vows. She's simply amazing!

ituals. From the Hindu and Jewish traditions to the Christian, Celtic, Tibetan or others, if you are looking for someone to create and officiate a unique ceremony that captures the essence of you and your groom, yet honors the traditions you want to include, you must call Barbara! She took our vision and translated it into the perfect ceremony. Our unique combination of rituals included Satapadi, Celtic Handfassting, incorporating earth, water, air and fire, and some Christian traditions. Our guests loved her... how she shared all of her knowledge and wisdom about love, marriage and all of the wedding rituals we incorporated. Our guests laughed and cried and went on and on about Barbara and the ceremony. Many told us it was the most interesting and touching ceremony they had ever witnessed!
