I genuinely hate writing this because I am NOT someone who leaves bad reviews, especially about the venue where we got married, but our experience with The Barn at Rush C...
reek was so disappointing that I feel future couples need to know.
We spent months planning with our original coordinator, who was absolutely amazing. Then, less than two months before our wedding, we walked into a meeting and learned with essentially no warning that our coordinator had been switched to Karen, the owner. From that point forward, things felt incredibly disorganized. We repeatedly had to explain details we had already discussed, and several things were still wrong on our wedding day.
The timeline we waited days for was extremely basic and even contained misspellings. Vendors were contacting ME in the weeks leading up to the wedding and even on my wedding day because they hadn’t heard from our coordinator, despite us being told she would coordinate timing directly with them.
The night before, we arrived to missing tables and chairs we had discussed multiple times. We had planned our approximately 40-person rehearsal location for months, yet when it was time for rehearsal, Karen acted as though she didn’t know what we were talking about. Food was being delivered and we didn’t even have an area ready for it. During rehearsal, she also repeatedly tried to tell our officiant to change portions of the ceremony he had written, which we found very disrespectful.
The wedding day was worse. As the BRIDE, I saw our wedding coordinator maybe three times the entire day. Our bridesmaids were literally setting up the ceremony area approximately 30 minutes before the wedding because things still weren’t done. Guests arrived and the parking assistance we had been told would be provided wasn’t happening.
Thank God for the lead bartender because she was AMAZING and stepped in to handle so much. Without her, I genuinely don’t know what we would have done.
The most frustrating part was learning Karen was also coordinating ANOTHER WEDDING while she was supposed to be coordinating ours. Had we known that beforehand, we simply would have hired our own day-of coordinator. Instead, we believed we already had one because a wedding coordinator was included in our package.
In my experience, what we received didn’t even amount to day-of coordination. A bride should not be fielding vendor questions on her wedding day while her bridesmaids are finishing setup 30 minutes before the ceremony because the coordinator is elsewhere.
Even the cabin had issues. The washer leaked water everywhere throughout the weekend despite us notifying them, and the shower head literally flew off when the first guest tried to use it.
There were individual staff members who were wonderful, and our frustration is not directed toward them. But when you spend this much money and are trusting a venue with one of the biggest days of your life, you expect the services included in your package to actually be provided.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend The Barn at Rush Creek—especially if wedding coordination is an important reason you’re considering booking. If you do book, get exactly what “wedding coordinator” includes in writing and specifically ask whether that coordinator will be handling another wedding at the same time.
I wish I could put into words how thankful I am to have chose valley view cabins for our wedding. Karen and Kallista made every detail perfect even when I was planning our wedding ...
in a completely different state! On our wedding day, I had zero stress about the venue and about the details of our wedding and that in itself was a blessing. The staff is what made the beautiful location even better. They were SO friendly!!! I mean down to the people who were cleaning up had smiles and were so polite!! Our guest even made a toast to valley view and their amazing service. The food was amazing and everything was literally perfect. Our cabins were SO clean and accommodating. The vision I had dreamed about since I was a little girl was surpassed thanks to Valley View. Thank you for making my dreams come true!!
