We loved having the outdoor space for the ceremony and being able to use the barn for dinner (and have a built in rain plan). Having freedom of choice regarding food and drinks allowed us to get what we wanted and save us some money. Everyone I spoke with at Bartholomew County Historical Society and the farm's caretaker were extremely nice and helpful. I just wish they had more tables and chairs available to fill the capacity of the space, and maybe having an option of people to set it up for you.
Even though the place is in need of updates and landscaping (especially for the rental price) everything turned out picture perfect (thanks to a lot of helpers and two days of hard work). However, the setting fit my theme very well and I really enjoyed being able to bring in my own vendors and caterers without paying a fee. The service was also less than stellar. If you are planning to book here, prepared to do a LOT of work!!
No required vendors so you can bring in anyone you choose for music, food, rentals, etc. There's no heat or air but for our mid-October wedding, it was perfect. We had the ceremony on the front lawn and reception in the barn. Easy to get to from I-65 and mins from the outlet mall and hotels. The barn already has lights strung throughout the rafters. Groundskeeper was very kind and helpful throughout the whole process.
