Basin Harbor is situated on 700 acres, making it difficult to list every event space possible for your outdoor or indoor wedding event. Basin Harbor is a flexible venue dedicated to giving you the waterfront wedding of your dreams. Some of the spaces often chosen for ceremonies and receptions include:
Homestead Lawn. Located in front of the Homestead Building, the lawn is a picturesque location for a ceremony held directly on the waterfront with awesome views of Lake Champlain. With direct access to both a campfire area and the beach, the Homestead Lawn is located close to the North Dock for an easy transition from your ceremony to your reception site under the dock's festive tent.
North Dock. A permanent party tent sits atop this sturdy dock with room for up to 150 guests. Enjoy lake views, Adirondack breezes and the party lights for your ceremony or reception.
Lodge Lawn. This event space has the most majestic views for a wedding ceremony. As you say your vows with the waves and boats of the harbor behind you, your loved ones are gathered and shaded under the trees to witness your service. Views of the Palisades cliffs and lots of multicolored Adirondack chairs make this a classic New England setting. The Lodge Lawn accommodates 250 with theater seating and up to 300 for a lakeside reception.
Wedding Arch. A lovely, more formal outdoor ceremony venue, this site features a handcrafted ornate white gazebo that stands on a circular stone patio with landscaping, trees and a great view of Basin Harbor just beyond your ceremony spot. A marble aisle and lush grass make this a beautiful location for a reception as well. The site can host up to 350 guests.
Ranger Room. Huge windows overlook the pool in this romantic room with rustic columns. The bright and flexible space makes a great reception or lobster feast spot for 150 to 250 guests. The cocktail area has a beautiful cherry bar and the adjacent buffet area adds more space for socializing and dining.
Town Hall. This sophisticated event space overlooks the pool and golf course through 8-foot windows. This is the largest conference space and it has 17-foot ceilings with graceful chandeliers, tasteful window treatments and a sun porch that opens onto a multi-level deck. Up to 225 guests may be seated here.
The Escape. Get married on the venue's 48-foot passenger boat in the middle of Lake Champlain or use it for a fun sunset cruise and cocktail hour with up to 48 friends aboard.
Ardelia's. This room is adjacent to the Lodge Lawn for an easy transition from an outdoor ceremony to a reception for up to 500 guests. Elegant appointments that include tasteful valances, wall sconces and rich carpeting make this room shine. French doors and walls of windows with views of the harbor and Lake Champlain add to the sparkle of this banquet or ceremony space.

We held our entire weekend at Basin Harbor (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party, post wedding brunch) and it was INCREDIBLE. We encouraged all of our guests to stay on the property and make use of all the amazing activities that BHC provides. The weather cooperated and our guests went water skiing, hung out on the beach, jumped on the trampoline, relaxed in lawn chairs, played golf and tennis, and just enjoyed the gorgeous setting. The onsite wedding coordinator was a gift from heaven. She helped us so much and was the reason we had so much fun at our own wedding. Every single staff member at BHC went above and beyond for us and all of our guests. I cannot say enough about BHC and all the amazing people that work there. From the wonderful team at the front desk to the awesome people that ferried us around the property on golf carts, and to the dining room staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. Our family and friends are still raving about how much fun they had at our wedding and we really owe it all to BHC. We can't wait to go back for our 1 year anniversary and many more after that!! Thank you BHC!
While it is a beautiful property, the planning process was extremely stressful, and the staff was borderline incompetent. Some of our reservations were lost despite my written request months ahead. Every email I sent to Ann the "planner" over the off season was returned by an out of office reply, which made planning difficult given our wedding was in early June, a few weeks after they opened. They weren't able to put together a final contract until a few days before the wedding. I was bombarded with emails and calls at the last minute. Over the weekend my grandparent's cottage had no hot water. We did thankfully have good weather and a lovely wedding, however given the many beautiful wedding venues in Vermont I would not recommend Basin Harbor.
The location, the activities, the amenities... we could not have been happier with our experience at Basin Harbor Club. Our 80 guests of all ages had a blast every day (rain or shine) because of the array of summertime entertainment opportunities. Our four-day, three-night wedding weekend with an event every evening each unfolded perfectly, and Anne Henderson and Dawn Wagner (our event and staff coordinators) were a pleasure to work with - true professionals at their craft of party management - having ALL of the details worked out in advance so we as bride and groom could relax completely into the fun. Compared to the cost of other venues and the complexities of working with vendors of every sort, we loved working with Basin Harbor Club because they truly offer it all.
The site was phenomenal. During the weekend, their assistance was great, but unfortunately we felt as if they could've provided more assistance during the year and a half of planning the wedding.
Great rehearsal dinner venue!Reviewed on 9/24/2014 Claire C
We had our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant on-site at Basin Harbor Club, the Red Mill Restaurant. I highly recommend Red Mill as a rehearsal dinner site! They provided us with a private room with the perfect amount of space and ambience (between "laidback/informal" and "formal") and a delicious menu selection (the pork chops were incredible!). Anne (the contact at Basin Harbor Club) was excellent and attending to and responding to our needs. Additionally, Red Mill Restaurant (during the summer through September, I believe) clears out the main dining area after the dinner hour on Friday nights, and a DJ plays music, converting the restaurant/bar area into a great dance party! This ended up being a hit with our after-rehearsal dinner arrivals. After the dinner, people were able to walk out of the private room into the main area, where the DJ and dance party were happening. It was the perfect launch to our wedding weekend!
Simply BeautifulReviewed on 6/18/2011 Kate M
We used the florist from Basin Harbor Club by the name of Claire Lesperance. She was so easy to work with and did an absolutely beautiful job. We were working within somewhat of a budget and she was able to listen to our ideas and make appropriate suggestions. Our flowers turned out simply beautiful! I highly recommend using her as your florist if you are planning a wedding at Basin Harbor or in the area, as she works on her own as well!
