with an unusual transportation need. Rather than the typical hotel to church to reception to hotel route, we need 2 minibuses for an extended period of time and then 2 for a shorter period to shuttle guests from a parking lot to a private residence. I called this man and asked for a quote. I explained the use, the need, the timeframe, etc. He said on a holiday they charge a minimum of $1200 per vehicle. I asked how many hours that would get us. He refused to answer and spoke rapidly dodging my questions. I'd already told him we needed 2 of the 4 vehicles for only about 30 minutes to help shuttle guests to the ceremony during the busy time of guest arrival. I told him I understood about minimums and asked how many hours that $1200 would get us. He finally said he would do all 4 vehicles for $4800. I did the math. That's 2 buses for 7 hours and 2 buses for 30 minutes. I pointed out that he'd previously said each vehicle had a minimum charge of $1200. I asked again if the 2 vehicles we would have for 30 minutes were being charged at $1200/30 minutes. Over and over, he refused to answer and continuously interrupted me saying things like, "We're the best in town," and "I can get more for a NYE event," and "Try going anywhere else and getting this." I finally had to say, "I've asked a question several times but still don't have an answer because I haven't been able to speak for 60 seconds and if you could just let me talk for 60 seconds...or even 30 seconds...I could ask the question I have." I finally asked specifically, "Is that $1200 for 30 minutes?" He started repeating the same things he'd said earlier about no other company would be able to accommodate us. I tried interrupting over and over to explain that if $1200 was the minimum, we could possibly stagger all of them and use them longer so that we would get more time out of $1200 than just 30 minutes which is ridiculous. After 8 minutes of being talked over and talked down to and told I could go someone else, I told him I would and just hung up. We will go somewhere else. A company that charges $1200 for 7 hours and then also charges $1200 for 30 minutes and who is rude and arrogant will not get a recommendation from me for my clients. If he treats a professional like that, I can only imagine how he would treat a bride who doesn't do this every day.
