About this vendor
Based in Baltimore, MD, Be The Sun Design Co is a wedding favor and live woodburning studio. Sophia Garber, the pyrographer and owner, loves pine and puns and is a talented creator of wood-burnt art. Whether you're looking for a live, created-onsite custom portrait, sign, or piece of jewelry, Sophia would love to create a beautiful personalized piece for your special day.
Sophia discovered a love for creating wood-burned art in 2018. She uses a hot metal pen to draw her designs into her medium and takes inspiration from nature. In 2021, she took a break from this artistic pursuit to hike the Appalachian Trail, raising money for young adults with cancer. During this time, she realized just how much she loved woodburning and, in October 2021, started working full-time in it.
Each of the items made at Be The Sun Design Co is handmade. They feature designs of plants, landscapes, people, and more. Among the collections are jewelry, coffee tables, wall art, and other decorative items. Sophia tries to repurpose wood as often as possible, helping to make her practice more sustainable. She encourages couples to reach out for more information about what she can do for them.

me early in the morning for a Sunday frosty 10am wedding and later at 5pm for the cocktail hour.
When I went out to see her, I was AMAZED! She created a wonderful wood burned image and was definitely the best gift we could ever give my SIL!
She was pleasant to work with and even gave my SiL the opportunity to make any edits if she wanted and shipped it straight to her!
Thank you so much Sophia!
I can not recommend Be The Sun enough! Sophia created a beautiful portrait during my wedding and provided personalized signage for the event. She wood burned our portrait throughou...
t the reception, and got every single detail just right! Halfway through our party, I approached her workstation and thought "Wow, that's us!" because the portrait was THAT perfect! She even drew inspiration from my bouquet for additional details. The live portrait was the perfect addition to our reception!
In addition, she provided personalized signage for our couple's table, event signage, and we commissioned for her to wood burn the front cover of our guest book. Sophia is passionate, creative, professional, and an all around joy to work with!
