We realize now that videos capture the wedding day in ways that photos are not able to and allow us to relive the raw memories of our special day. Everyone was obsessed with our highlight film! They even stayed a little extra than agreed upon to capture some of the footage on the dance floor, which I truly appreciated it. with only our immediate families present (it’s what we’ve always dreamed of) so we were trying to keep our budget small and didn’t realize the importance of a videographer at first. The closer that we got to our wedding day, we realized that since our wedding was going to be such an amazing, emotional, and profound day, this was definitely something that we wanted captured via film so that we could relive our memories and have a beautiful keepsake to show to our friends and relatives that would miss our wedding and to our future children someday. I must have called and emailed literally over 30 different videographers- some with years and years of experience, others fresh out of film school, ranging from all sorts of rates, and delivering all sorts of different styles and final products. It was honestly overwhelming and I thought for sure that this late in the process, with our wedding being only a little more than a month away, I thought I for sure wouldn’t be able to find a videographer that displayed the style, quality, and passion that we were looking for and that would be in our budget. That’s when I stumbled upon Melissa of Datflipmel Photo and Films on TheKnot. I will be honest, I immediately loved her portfolio, but was a little bit nervous because she didn’t have a ton of wedding films in her portfolio like some of the other candidates; however, after my first phone conversation with Melissa, she made me feel so comfortable and I felt that she was really listening to what I was looking for, and I just knew that this was the person that we wanted to film our wedding day. Fast forward to our wedding day: Melissa arrived really early, she was so sweet, and she worked hard to capture everything that we asked her to. She worked really well with my photographer! She even brought a friend with her to help her out, which she asked about beforehand, and I loved that she did that! Less than a week after our wedding, she really made me ecstatic when she emailed me a copy of our fully edited and completed wedding highlight film. I literally screamed when I got the email and after I watched it I was just in awe. Melissa captured our day and told our story in such a phenomenal, powerful, beautiful, and artistic way and I literally have watched our video over 20xs in a row because of how perfect and genuine it is. She has an art for making people feel comfortable, at ease, and just lets the realness happen without the awkward, posed factor that you see sometimes. Our friends and family LOVED our video. My husband cried when he first watched it, and so did a lot of our family and friends. If you’re on the fence about hiring a videographer- DO IT. You will NOT regret it and you will never look back and say, “Man. I wish we wouldn’t have spent that money on this video that captured all of these amazing moments with each other and with the people that we love and that we can relive forever.” Years from now, the money won’t matter. riendly and professional as she is! She created such a welcoming atmosphere and made us feel comfortable posing for the photos when it's 20 degrees outside and during snowfall! I am a typically a camera shy person but she made it feels as though we were just hanging out with friends and having fun and made it easy for me to get into it. She also took video of us during the shoot which she expertly edited afterwards with awesome music and beautiful transitions. The whole experience was just very enjoyable, not to mention we were extremely impressed with how the photos and video came out. it made us look like celebrities even though we weren't exactly the most photogenic people.
