by Julie and Brian, Josh, and the rest of the staff at the Inn. The historic Inn and expansive grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect place for a picture perfect wedding. While the setting is idyllic, quiet, and peaceful (we could hear the loons on the lake from our rooms), there was also much for us to do — walking trails along the lake and through the woods; canoes and kayaks to use on the lake; fire pits for guests to sit and linger, relax, and visit. There were even lawn games! It all made the long weekend as much a vacation getaway as it was an event. The rooms at the Inn were first rate - quiet, comfortable, beautifully updated and stylishly appointed. Each is different, but all have retained their historic New England charm with all the modern comforts. Spacious, gorgeous bathrooms, modern (quiet!) heating/ac, gas fireplaces, refrigerators, luxury bedding and towels. The little details throughout the Inn were nice as well — charming common areas stocked with water and other helpful amenities, plus spaces indoors and out for guests to kick back and relax. And the huge, made-from-scratch New England breakfasts really topped off the whole experience. In these times I also feel it is important to mention how well the staff addressed COVID safety, sanitation, and protection. Everyone was vaccinated (in addition to the wedding party and all guests) and the vendors also wore masks when interacting with the guests. Everything was spotless and well sanitized. With breezes off the lake and an abundance of fresh air, the outdoor spaces afforded plenty of room for anyone who wanted to maintain a little more distance. Likewise, indoor spaces were roomy and never felt crowded. Our family is quite careful and we felt very safe - almost like a little respite from the pandemic. Our son reports that the Inn facilitated and coordinated every aspect of the rehearsal, ceremony and reception (basically like having an on-site wedding planner), and that he and his new wife were completely satisfied. Other reviewers seem to concur.. The barn itself was wonderful — "rustic but elegant," and the attached pub/bar area provided all the additional facilities needed for an event (great bar area, prep kitchen, attractive restrooms, etc). The existing decor, including the amazing chandeliers, would have been enough without any extras, though there are some great optional items to use if desired (our son and daughter-in-law opted to have Josh hang a couple of the striking sheer draperies). Josh did an outstanding job personally directing every detail of the rehearsal, ceremony, and reception - where to walk and when, what to expect throughout - and it all went like clockwork. We had a lakeside ceremony with perfect weather, but no doubt Josh would have had us swiftly under cover if needed. The Bear Mountain Inn really is a wonderful place for any kind of getaway. For us, as the parents of the groom and guests at the wedding, we can’t imagine that a couple could find a better place to get married and host their friends and family. Julie and Brian have created a truly magical place.

We couldn't have found a more beautiful venue - in the months leading up to our day, my fiance and I quickly realized that we could do absolutely nothing to the decor of the barn and still have it be incredible. We opted to add some drapes to the barn for our reception and were so pleased at how it turned out. Throughout the entire planning process, Josh & co. were flexible, helpful, and informative. They helped us with each one of our specific questions, with everything from "How long is the walk down the aisle?" to "Can we use this piece of decor we saw in your Instagram photos?" It's also really wonderful that they include so much in their contract - it was great to not have to worry about hiring bar services or renting things like linens, tables, and chairs! Bear Mountain Inn is the perfect rustic-chic location for your big day. It also helps that they have such close relationships with many of the other vendors you'll need, so they can give great advice about other pros to round out your day!

on a gorgeous piece of land overlooking a lake. It is a breathtaking place and they are warm welcoming hosts who made us feel like the entire inn was our personal home the weekend of our wedding. Equally as important they are total professionals who, together with their day of coordinator, Cassie, made the wedding stress free. Cassie is one of the most competent and professional people I have ever worked with, and she worked with us from the day we chose them to host our wedding to make sure everything would be perfect. The result was that the weekend of the wedding everything ran so smoothly we never had to worry about anything other than having a good time. A month later our guests are still talking about how much fun they had and how beautiful the venue was.

They heard all our concerns, validated our feelings, and made sure we knew they were on our side to work with and be as flexible as possible. You can't imagine the relief we felt after that call knowing no matter what we decided to do, they would work with us so we could have the day we wanted. And let me tell you, we had the most magical wedding WEEKEND (another huge reason we chose BMI - it is very fun to stay/party with your closest people who are all staying at the same location). We had the whole property for 2 nights which made it incredible to have our wedding party and immediate family there with us through it all. Bear Mountain Inn has many beautiful places for getting ready, taking pictures, and spending time with loved ones. More importantly, the customer service and hospitality made us feel like we were in a fairytale. Our family and friends are still talking about how amazing our wedding was. We had people tell us that have been to numerous weddings that this was the best wedding they have ever been to, even better than their own! I cannot recommend this venue enough. Even booking nearly two years out, we found at every contact point that BMI was available to answer our questions, even odd and specific ones. Cassie impressed us with her organization and eye for detail, helping us through elements that even our dedicated planning had missed. Brian and Julie are involved in every aspect of the operation and always offer personal greetings. They are warm, wonderful, and interesting people you will be happy to stay with. The venue itself is incomparable. The rooms are gorgeous, charming, and beautifully appointed. The Barn is beautiful and the chandeliers a beloved detail of ours. The layout and design is conducive to every component of an event. Each space is so distinct that you turn a corner or go through a door and enter another world, as equipped and comfortable as the one you just left. Breakfasts: amazing, unique, made to order, personal requests honored! It would be difficult to overstate the dining experience. The trails, dock, lake, hammocks, chairs, fields, patio, and fireplaces/s’mores stations are wonderful spots to relax, take pictures, or play games. We even jumped in the lake in our wedding attire! There were more spaces than we could reasonably use for gorgeous photo opportunities. The photographers and our guests raved about how impressed they were with every small detail of the property. The day after our wedding, we made use of the massage cottage, allowing us to completely unwind after days of activity. From helping us unload our cars the moment we arrived, to their personal sendoff, Brian, Julie, and Cassie helped every step of the way. Cleanup after the event was rapid and complete; we had brought an incredible amount of décor but found everything boxed up for easy loading following the reception. The efficiency and experience of the staff prevented me from worrying about a thing on the big day- ensuring that we ate, keeping us to time, and presenting us with our first drinks after we tied the knot (OMG, the bartenders made our signature cocktails PERFECTLY!) During ceremony prep, my husband was having a slight panic regarding lanterns. Julie stepped in, calmly guiding and then taking over the process to ensure that it looked amazing. Cassie exceeded all our expectations and kept the show on the rails - helping us craft our timeline, guiding us from scene to scene effortlessly- and did it all with a smile! We had an unorthodox twist on the cake ceremony- intending to share mini whoopie pies. Cassie recognized that we had no tools or plans and immediately collaborated with our photographers to put together a “Lady and the Tramp” inspired scene. It worked out perfectly, and we are so grateful for her ingenuity. Bear Mountain Inn is an incredible venue - quiet, stunning, easily accessible to Portland. We couldn’t be happier with the choice to have our wedding here, and felt supported and cared for at every turn. We are so excited to return!

First of all, Brian and Julie are two of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They treat everyone like family. You feel like you are visiting relatives whenever you drop by or stay. The level of care and consideration that goes into that Inn is beyond description. From the child size robe they left for my son, to the umbrellas that just appeared during the sudden ceremony shower, to having leftovers from our catered meal waiting for us in our room after the reception- we were and are continually impressed with their superb hospitality. Cassie, the on site coordinator, was amazing and worked hard to execute the most important day of our lives. The amount of stress that the staff at Bear Mountain Inn relieved from us during our weekend is beyond words. Besides the amazing people, the grounds of the Inn are beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. The rooms are cozy and clean, and did I mention the breakfast?? Best blueberry pancakes I've ever had. And I think that was a unanimous opinion from all of my guests. The only bad part of the weekend was that it had to end. Thank you Bear Mountain Inn for creating such a beautiful place for people to spend with their family and friends. It was the best weekend of my life and I will never forget it.

The Inn is completely renovated and let me tell you they did not miss a detail, its modern but still has that cozy feel you want at a bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed 5 nights with our Golden Retriever and all 3 of us felt completely comfortable and at home, we actually were all very sad the day we had to leave! And if you are looking for an authentic rustic barn this is the place for you. The two chandeliers in the barn are just gorgeous, it is something you just have to see in person. The patio where we had our ceremony overlooking the lake was just absolutely breathtaking! We have received so many compliments from our guests on this venue! My husband really wanted our reception in an authentic old barn and we both have a love for mountains, water and nature, and this venue had it all! And the fact that they only do ONE wedding a weekend was such a big deal to us! Our guests got to stau with us and enjoyed everything this property had to offer for 3 amazing nights and all of them are still raving about the breakfast buffet each morning! I could just go on and on about this property and venue but I will end with it is 100% worth it to check them out, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back many times to come as Inn guests!

These ladies rock, and add to the fun filled event or weekend that you stay. Bottom line when your stay is over you will think the staff and Julie and Brian should be leaving with you, like they were just guests as well. The grounds around the Inn are beautiful. Professionally maintained and when maintenance is needed it is quick and at a reasonable hour. There is also, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking trails on the property along and in bear lake. There is plenty of room for a wedding party to stay at the venue, plus some family as well. Rooms are cozy and updated but still have the rustic Maine / barn / farmhouse feel. This is the perfect venue for a wedding or a weekend get away. I’m already planning a trip back just for a weekend away. Highly recommended if your looking, to check this place out!

They answered all of our questions thoroughly, took the time to explain details, got to know us and our story, and were genuinely excited to share such a special moment in our lives. The entire planning process went smoothly, even when we threw them a couple of curveballs and had last minute changes. They always offered advice when needed which was extremely helpful and never complained of a change. Even my friends and family were thrilled with the attention to detail by all of them. Our guests loved the rooms they were staying in and were delighted by how delicious breakfast was each morning. Our entire wedding weekend was very low key, and perfect. The rehearsal dinner included our walkthrough with Cassie and the bridal party, followed by pizza, cornhole, swimming, kayaking and a bonfire. The wedding day also went off without a hitch. Brian and Julie were extremely helpful in getting everything set up, but they were not constantly "in your face" about it, which was super helpful. Cassie was like Wonder Woman, no joke. She had our timeline in hand and was incredible at making sure people knew where to be and when. She even acted as a seamstress when the strap to my wedding gown broke free, multiple times. I always counted on her to rush to me and pin me back in. As for our actual wedding; we had our ceremony on the patio on the lawn overlooking the water, our cocktail hour on the patio in front of the barn, and our reception inside the barn. The flow of everything was perfect. We had options when it came to decorating the barn and we decided to keep it fairly simple. We had 120 people in attendance and we all fit very comfortably in all of the spaces including the barn. I couldn't have imagined my wedding any other way and I am so thankful for Brian, Julie, Cassie and their entire staff at Bear Mountain Inn for everything they did for us over the three days we were there. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for their perfect wedding venue. We cannot wait to go back for a stay!!

We stayed in the cottage our first time and absolutely fell in love with the entire location and the 3 of them. They were under renovations at the time from just buying it and we believed whole heartedly in their vision. We decided to say I do at Bear Mountain. In the year and a half we were planning the wedding we stayed their numerous times and each and every time was special. We created a ton of memories at their beautiful venue and we couldn't wait to share it with all of our family and friends. They made the entire wedding planning process so easy and helped us with each and every question we had. The weekend of the wedding the 3 of them and their staff went completely above and beyond to make sure every vision we had came to life. The weekend was truly a fairytale and our guests cant stop talking about how amazing their entire venue is. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts we are forever grateful and we can not wait to continue creating memories at your venue for many years to come with our families.

The morning of our wedding we woke up in our gorgeous room (mountain ash) and had breakfast in the adorable dining room with all of our family. We then spent some time out on the lake before getting ready for our ceremony, held over the breathtaking lake. We got ready in the post and beam and had lunch set up for all of the bridal party. After our beautiful ceremony, we had a rented reception at the top of the hill, and took pictures in the sun kissed woods below. Julie and Brian (the owners) were amazing and made sure all of our wishes were met. As a bride, my mind was at ease all day, trusting my vendors and the owners would put everything together beautifully. They did just that. I can’t say enough good things about the Bear Mountain Inn. Our families had an amazing time, as did we. We cannot wait to return!

Breakfasts were provided onsite and were delicious. The amenities that were provided throughout the Inn for all of the guests were thoughtful. Every detail was planned for and they provided just about everything we could have needed. We had our rehearsal dinner onsite the night before the wedding and everything was setup and taken down for us. We had our ceremony out on the patio and the reception in the barn. The Inn provided tables, chairs, linens, dishes, etc. for us which made it a lot easier. Bathrooms were included within the facility and there was plenty of space for everything we had planned. We couldn't have been happier with our experience and we highly recommend the Inn to anyone who is looking to get married in Maine. You can tell that Julie and Brian are very passionate about their business and truly love creating the perfect wedding day for couples.

itself is absolutely beautiful, every room is special in its own unique way, and the barn is a great space that makes the perfect spot for a party. The inn grounds are gorgeous, the lake is so much fun to hang out on, and the trails on the property were perfect for morning walks with our dog Baxter. We rented out the Inn for the weekend so our whole family could stay with us that weekend, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made for the weekend. From the time everybody checked in to the inn, to the rehearsal dinner, to the wedding, every single detail was taken care of. Julie, Brian, and the wedding coordinator Cassie were amazing on my wedding day, and there was not a single thing out of place. My husband and I LOVED our experience at the Bear Mountain Inn, and we would 1000% recommend this venue to anybody and everybody who is planning a wedding in Maine.

From the individual s'mores packs for evening campfires to the baskets of items in the guests bathrooms with anything a guest may have forgotten, Julie and Brian make sure everyone has what they need to have a great time. Getting married here was like getting married at a good friend's house - we highly recommend it!

We booked the Bear Mountain Inn immediately for our daughter's wedding weekend events to be held in July 2018. They delivered on everything we asked with excellence, and it was delightful working with them from start to finish. This venue has fun as it's middle name. In addition to the three flawless events they created for us at BMI, there are many goodies on site. They have a great assortment of beautifully re-docorated rooms for guests to chose from which include standard rooms, interesting suites, a private cottage and a family or group lodge with it's own kitchen. Our guests found it convenient and relaxing to stay at BMI where there are numerous, cozy gathering places, lots of lake toys, and games to be enjoyed inside or out on the lawn. We made wonderful memories enjoying all the extras while gazing at the lake at BMI. The only thing superior to the property itself, is the exceptional hospitality and warmth provided by Julie and Brian and their caring and efficient staff. They went over and above our expectations, and their experience allowed them to take care of things before we even knew there was a need. And another perk ... Brian is savvy with technology and can interface with any audio/video presentation needs you may have. We are very grateful to everyone at BMI who helped create all the joy we experienced throughout the weekend. If you are looking to have an event in this area of Maine, BMI is a must look!

d Brian worked tirelessly to finish the barn and make sure everything was perfect for our big day. The weekend of our wedding was more wonderful than we could have ever imagined. The grounds are beautiful and our guests enjoyed playing volleyball and lawn games that were set up before the ceremony. Julie and Brian even rushed to get a new ping pong table just before the event because we explained how much our families love ping pong! After the ceremony we had our reception in the gorgeous renovated barn and an evening of fun and dancing. We and our guests all loved the accommodations, the delicious homemade breakfasts, and the warm hospitality. Even now, months later, our guests are still telling us how much they loved the wedding and their weekend at the inn. We can't speak more highly of the Bear Mountain Inn and we strongly recommend it for couples looking for a beautiful venue with talented, professional owners and staff to help make the most of their special day.

Brian and Julie went above and beyond to make sure we had everything that we needed and the smallest details were taken care of all before the big day. Our wedding had 120 guests and we comfortably fit in the barn for our reception. We had our rehearsal dinner in the upper post and beam because of weather, but it was a blessing in disguise! Mountain Inn is probably perfect for a small wedding, but ours was close to 120, and the innkeeper, Christi, was definitely understaffed--there simply needed to be more help. The day before, our check in was delayed (we arrived promptly at 3). The day of the wedding, she tried to eliminate a table--to make room--which was stressful and impossible. We had cards with names and table numbers. A friend had to go and negotiate with her. Part of the reason she wanted to eliminate a table was because the tent was too small--which we didn't understand. Why wasn't a larger tent ordered? Had it rained, we would have been in trouble. Other problematic details... The space for our ketubah signing was not set up, and the room we were told we could do it in was untenable. The Post and Beam space had no hot water, and there wasn't a reduction on the rate for our accommodating guests. We only knew the hot tub wasn't working after we explicitly asked. We had to ask multiple times in the weeks before to get cider as one of our drink options--the first time we asked for it, she only purchased wine. We ordered donuts for dessert, and she threw them away before the end of the night--we would have loved to have them for the after party. In other words, there were issues with both small and big details (the elimination of a table is a BIG detail). Then, after the wedding, she lost the credit card information for most of our guests--thus delaying the return of my father's deposit. An important note--we originally were going to have the rehearsal there as well, but Christi wanted to charge upwards of 8,000 dollars for a meal of hot dogs and hamburgers. We were able to have it at another location for less than half the price, with lobster rolls. We can (and will) take some responsibility. We should have sat down with Christi the night before and gone over EVERY DETAIL. If you do choose to work with the Inn, know you can have a BEAUTIFUL wedding. But there certainly was a lot of stress--and much of it unnecessary. I hope Christi brings on extra staff to give every couple the wedding they deserve :-)

we never wanted to leave! I had a half elopment-half small wedding here at the Inn. It started out as an elopment and a month before I Do, my husband said he wanted our close family and friends to be there. Through it all, Christi (Owner of the Inn) was very accommodating and helpful. We only had to worry about making the centerpieces and arriving on-time as Christi handled the rest. My husband and I are looking forward to returning here in the spring.

However, that seems to be in the past now that the owner Christi is taking over in the day-to-day running of the Inn and the weddings. She was very helpful the day of and was much more responsive to questions and concerns. The rooms and grounds of the Inn are very well-kept and the location is truly gorgeous. I would recommend having a wedding here--especially if you're looking for a rustic/country setting.

ediate families and some friends, and the Inn was extremely flexible and friendly in catering to what we wanted and ensuring that our friends/family had a wonderful stay. My only reservation is that the event coordinator was extremely difficult to get ahold of in the initial planning stages of our wedding. I had very spotty responses from her via email, and had to call a number of times (both her cell phone and the Inn's main number), as did my guests (!!!) to get a response, confirm rooms, etc. Starting at about 2 weeks before the actual wedding, she suddenly became very responsive and everything got nailed down fine. The decorations, food, etc were even better than what I had expected on the actual day. So I would highly recommend this place as a venue for B-type, laid-back, not-gonna-worry brides with a small number of guests. Although I certainly don't think I was demanding or anything approaching bridezilla status, the fact that so many details were left to the last minute really caused me a good amount of stress during the planning process, and it's a factor to consider!
