Beauty Bullies

d. I hired Summer and her team at Beauty Bullies for both my Western and Indian Sikh wedding. Despite a significant investment, I repeatedly had to chase responses, was dismissed when explaining my Indian ceremony’s strict religious requirements, and received personal comments that made me extremely uncomfortable working with her to the point where my wedding planner had to remove her from day of service and find someone else from her team to do the job. For those considering her services, here are the details: With a large bridal party, outdoor conditions, tight timelines, and an early morning Sikh ceremony, advance coordination was essential. Beauty bullies requires a contract upfront that makes you pay for services even if you cancel in a timely matter. So I was contractually obligated to use her services no matter what. I repeatedly had to circle back. follow up and beg for basic information, including a getting-ready schedule for bridesmaids traveling from across the country. Communication improved once I started copying my wedding planner, but I often felt my questions were treated as as a huge inconvenience. I was very forgiving about this as I had 2 weddings to plan. I sent Summer a detailed explanation of the hair and makeup requirements for my Sikh religious ceremony. She said she would respond after returning from a trip, but that follow-up never came. When I checked in, she was annoyed and reassured me that she had done many “Indian” weddings. I explained that my ceremony had specific religious requirements, and India is a huge, diverse country with very different religions and cultures. This was dismissed. I let it go and decided to trust her process. Then the day before my makeup trial, Summer told me to text her suggestions. I did this, she told me no problem, reassured me of her talents and gave suggestions that I was very excited about. I was excited for my trial and to see what she could do. The communication was very friendly. THEN the conversation got weird. Out of nowhere, she told me I needed to relax and described me as “the most stressed out bride she had ever dealt with.” I found it deeply ironic that someone whose lack of communication had caused me so much stress then felt entitled to judge me for being stressed. Because it felt so out of nowhere, I thought maybe she was texting the wrong person and ignored the messages. I assured her I was fine and excited to go to my trial and ignored her messages. The next day when I finally received the schedule (days before my wedding), I noticed I was scheduled last and checked with my wedding planner to confirm that the timing would work with photography and the ceremony. My planner advised me to trust Summer’s judgment, and I agreed. Shortly afterward, while I was on my way to the trial, Summer texted that I had hurt her feelings by going “behind her back” to speak with my own planner. I considered checking logistics with my planner ENTIRELY reasonable, and the exchanges left me deeply uncomfortable about going to the trial as Sumer seemed unstable and deeply unprofessional. I cancelled trial. It was a nightmare. My wedding planner ultimately ensured me that someone from her team would do the job. I had to manage my vendor’s feelings days before my own wedding. The lack of boundaries and unprofessionalism was horrible!
