He worked at our level every single class and never tried to throw too much at us, nor teach us anything he thought we couldnât handle. We definitely had fun at each of our weekly lessons, and our first dance turned out great! Our guests were surprised (in a good way) and seemed to enjoy it â and we had a blast, ourselves!
Lee taught us how to dance, not choreograph our wedding song. We very much appreciated this distinction, as we learned moves that we can use beyond just our wedding. If you are looking for a fun weekly activity with your partner to relieve some of the stresses of wedding planning, we highly recommend Beginning Ballroom! During the process, Lee was patient, reassuring, and kind, and made sure to explain things to us in terms that made sense. My husband has a background in music but I do not, but Lee was able to make dancing make sense for both of us. He was very thoughtful and a few times he had coffee ready for us for morning sessions! Lee's strengths are that he clearly explains what aspects really matter in a first dance and what doesn't (what the guests will not notice) and that he teaches the "why" behind certain moves, which frees us to focus on the few important aspects and enjoy the process. We love that he adapts to our level and learning pace and prefers to have us do a simpler dance where we focus on the love connection between us as a couple as opposed to a fancy dance full of technicalities that is not as fluid or seems forced. Lee is also very responsive and easy to work with, and super friendly. Highly recommend!

Prior to booking, I called 2 other companies. Beginning Ballroom's 10 class package was the most comprehensive and reasonably priced. Lee is very personable, funny, and detail oriented. His attention to detail even included helpful suggestions for securely bustling my dress so that I wouldn't trip during our first dance. Pro Tip: Don't tell anyone that you are taking dance lessons.
