Beginning Ballroom

My wife and I did not know much about ballroom dancing before our wedding and we were worried about our first dance, but Lee was excellent in meeting us at our level and building from there. By the time our wedding came around, we were dancing the Cha Cha with ease and we felt completely confident on our big day.

Lee was great! He worked with our crazy schedule and us not being in the same place or in Baltimore often ahead of the wedding. We loved our dance and have become better dancers at other events too!

Lee was such a wonderful instructor! My husband and I used our dance lessons as our pre-wedding “date nights” and had so much fun! Lee is a great teacher and was so flexible with my crazy schedule as a physician. We can’t wait to go back and continue to learn with him :)

Lee is an excellent instructor! The prospect of our first dance was intimidating at the beginning but Lee really put us at ease with his teaching style. We greatly appreciate his knowledge, flexibility, and adaptability. He is very perceptive to the needs of his students, tailoring his lessons to comfortably match our pace and ability level. He taught us the foundation rather than memorizing choreography, which made our first dance effortless and stress-free. Lee is amazing. We started taking classes prior to our wedding and learned not only rumba (our first dance), but merengue and bachata too. It really reduced our anxiety towards dancing and we had so much fun. Do yourself a favor and call beginning ballroom, you won’t regret it.

Great guy! We learned some basic steps and built from there. He made sure that we got enough practice and we were confident going into our first dance. Really friendly atmosphere so you feel comfortable right away :). I would definitely use them again!

We took 10 lessons with Lee in the run-up to our wedding and it was one of the best decisions we made! Going from absolute beginners to learning the basics and some simple turns gave us a lot of confidence and made our first dance look a lot more elegant than it would otherwise have We also earned a lot of compliments from our guests! Lee is a patient and personable teacher who makes learning simple and fun. We appreciated his reminders that the most important thing about any first dance wasn't that two beginners look technically expert, but that we have fun doing it.

Working with Beginning Ballroom with Lee as our instructor to prepare for our first dance was an amazing experience!! We had 10 lessons with him over a 2 month period. We came to him with zero dance skills and he was able to teach us how to ballroom dance and feel very comfortable doing so! During the process, Lee was patient, reassuring, and kind, and made sure to explain things to us in terms that made sense. My husband has a background in music but I do not, but Lee was able to make dancing make sense for both of us. He was very thoughtful and a few times he had coffee ready for us for morning sessions! During the times that I was frustrated with myself, Lee was incredibly supportive. I came to Lee nervous and self-conscious about how our first dance would go, but he taught us skills to confidently perform our first dance. Our first dance went really well and everyone said we looked comfortable and beautiful! And now we have dance moves that we can use for the rest of our lives together, all thanks to Lee. We are very thankful for the opportunity to work together!

This was one of the best decisions my fiance and I did for our wedding! Lee and his expertise were just the ticket for what we were looking for in last minute preparation for our wedding recpetion. Along with being flexible and understanding of our schedules, Lee was nothing short of wonderful in helping us get to where we wanted to be for our First Dance- teaching to our already selected song and getting us to look like we knew a thing or two (even though both of us had never ever had any training in dance of any kind). HIGHLY recommend!!

It is an absolute pleasure working with Lee and Christine! Admittedly, my fiancé and I have some lofty ideas for our first dance at our upcoming wedding and Lee has been so helpful in putting us on the path to achieve our goals. He is very insightful and observant of our abilities each (dance) step of the way (haha)—actively adapting his professional training and tailoring his teachings to match our level and pace. Every lesson is a lot of fun and stress free! We really appreciate that he is easy-going, flexible, patient, and generous with his time and attention. His jokes are hilarious—overall he and his wife are super cool!

They were great! We impressed our guests with the first dance, and instead of being completely choreographed, we had the flexibility to use moves we learned in whatever order we wanted. That way, we had much less stress and pressure to remove the order of every move and could focus on the moment. He asked questions as we prepared to ensure we were ready to walk onto and exit the dance floor and made us feel confident leading up to the day.

Lee is great to work with! My fiancee and I got a lesson with him and immediately decided to upgrade to a 10-lesson package before our wedding. While we are still 2 weeks away from our wedding (so we have not done our first dance yet), so far we have had a lot of fun and have learned a lot. Lee's strengths are that he clearly explains what aspects really matter in a first dance and what doesn't (what the guests will not notice) and that he teaches the "why" behind certain moves, which frees us to focus on the few important aspects and enjoy the process. We love that he adapts to our level and learning pace and prefers to have us do a simpler dance where we focus on the love connection between us as a couple as opposed to a fancy dance full of technicalities that is not as fluid or seems forced. Lee is also very responsive and easy to work with, and super friendly. Highly recommend!

Lee is a miracle worker. On the 1st day of class, I wasn't sure my husband and I would ever be able to pull off a reasonable foxtrot. After only 10 classes, we were wedding ready. Prior to booking, I called 2 other companies. Beginning Ballroom's 10 class package was the most comprehensive and reasonably priced. Lee is very personable, funny, and detail oriented. His attention to detail even included helpful suggestions for securely bustling my dress so that I wouldn't trip during our first dance. Pro Tip: Don't tell anyone that you are taking dance lessons. The surprise factor really impressed our guests and set the mood for our reception. Everyone loved our first dance!

We took classes for our wedding and we were more than pleased with the instructors. From the beginning to the end was such a great experience. We weren’t sure which kind of dance we’d like to do so we shared our song with Mr. Gedansky and he selected a style that would fit best. He’s such a blast to learn from and very flexible. We will be taking more classes after the wedding!

My wife is an excellent dancer while I have two left feet and have always avoided dancing like the plague. When it came time to decide on and start our wedding dance preparations I knew I would need help. After attending group lessons for some time, we knew that more individualized attention was needed to make progress in time for the wedding day. We are very happy and relieved to have found Lee! Lee is kind, patient, funny, and a great dance instructor. He took us from stepping on feet and much frustration to an elegant first dance that impressed our guests and family. We greatly enjoyed this process and each and every one of our lessons. Moreover, Lee provided excellent advice for the wedding bustle and tips for the day of to make this go smoothly. Lee is amazing. Me and my fiance started dance lessons early (1 year ahead of the wedding date) and it made our Thursdays every week going. Fiance was hesitant at first, but he fell in love with the lessons (like i did) and Lee became quite a good friend to us through this experience. This was one of our favorite things we did for our wedding! Lee and Christine couldn’t have been better teachers! We learned what was the right dance for us and our song. Something that fit our skill set was very important and we felt so comfortable when our big day came. We had fun, all the while learning something new we would share with all our guests.

My fiance and I had found this dance studio after we had unsuccessfully tried our hand at dancing at a local dance chain. As soon as we spoke on the phone with Lee, we had a good feeling, and we were right! Lee helped my fiance and I create a beautiful first dance that wasn't canned or cheesy, it felt genuine and enjoyable, and the crowd loved it! We highly recommend Lee. He has years of experience and knowledge that he is happy to share with his students, and help two stiff, inexperienced dancers like us feel comfortable and relaxed. Lee was a wonderful teacher and so much fun. We enjoyed our lessons and also Lee’s stories. I had been trying to talk my husband into dance lessons for years and finally our son was getting married so I had a good reason to convince him. After our lessons were complete and our son was married my husband asked if I wanted to continue lessons. Absolutely!! We will be back to soon to see Lee and continue.

Lee is fantastic! He is very chill, and immediately makes you feel comfortable. Definitely prefer the one- on- one lessons to the idea of a big class. My partner came in knowing *nothing* about dancing, and we're well on our way to being confident dancers! We are also having Beginning Ballroom teach a dance lesson at our reception.

We started with Lee and Beginning Ballroom when my boyfriend, Josh, surprised me for our 1 year anniversary with a Date Night dance lesson. We had a blast learning the Rumba and ended up taking additional classes just for fun. When we got engaged last January, we again returned to Beginning Ballroom to conquer our first dance! They have reasonably priced Wedding Dance packages and have been VERY accommodating and flexible with our hectic schedules. Lee is always a pleasure to work with and we look forward to continuing our lessons long after we're married!

I cannot begin to tell you how much help Lee was! Before signing up for dance lessons, my husband and I attempted to learn how to slow dance on YouTube, which resulted in frantically searching for a dance instructor. With Lee’s help, not only did he teach us how to dance to our first dance song, but also how to overcome obstacles because sometimes things don’t go smoothly…. Unfortunately, our DJ played the wrong first dance song but thankfully we were able to dance and none of our guests seem to notice that we were dancing to the wrong song. Lee not only prepared us for the right song but also for the wrong song. I highly recommend dance lessons especially before your wedding, and honestly, they aren’t awkward at all. Dance lessons took so much unnecessary weight off of our shoulders and the first dance went from our first concern, to our last. Thank you Lee!!

Lee has been great to work with! Unfortunately, we had to postpone our reception due to COVID-19, but we have no doubt that we will still look great on our big day. It's been a lot of fun learning to tango and we feel a lot more comfortable on the dance floor than we thought we might be!

Lee and Christine are the Best! I'm not sure if this should be a dance instruction review or a people review. After blindly calling several places, the chemistry was instant with Lee. At the initial instruction we quickly learned why. This couple both have infectious personalities with huge warming hearts...and get this, they are amazing dance instructors as well! I'm sure there are other studios that can teach you how to dance at your wedding, but these are the ones that you invite to your wedding and party with all night long! With Beginning Ballroom, we didn't just leave with a dance, we left with friends. Well, actually we never left as we have continued to learn new genres long after the Wedding. If you are on here reading reviews and looking for someone to help prepare you for that special day, look no further! Honestly, on top of being great people, the dance instruction is phenomenal. Lee and Christine are fluent in virtually every style, and that personal knowledge helps them to provide the perfect instruction to make sure that you develop the right techniques as well. You will receive an honest approach with hands-on help if needed...and trust me, there were plenty of times when Lee had to grab my 250 lb frame and lead me around the room. All in all, they are 10 out of 10 in every category and I'm so fortunate to have gained such great friends!

We decided to take dance classes for our wedding about 6 weeks before the big day. Prior to this experience, we were a little nervous given that we have no dance experience and not a lot of time. Lee made us feel comfortable from the beginning and chose the perfect dance for us that we felt confident doing by the end. He was friendly, warm, and positive throughout it all. It was such a great bonding experience for me and my now husband and it will be one of the highlights that we will remember from our wedding for years to come. Highly recommend!

My wife and I loved our experience taking dance lessons with Lee. We had 6 private lessons leading up to our wedding and they were some of the best moments that we shared during the very stressful last few weeks that led up to our big day. The sessions were fun and informative! Best of all our first dance looked great and people really loved it! I would recommend the experience to any couple as a way of scheduling some mini dates with each other as you approach your wedding with the added bonus of looking awesome during your wedding instead of rocking and swaying back and forth with each other in front of all of your family and friends! Lee and Christine were beyond supportive and knowledgeable and best of all they were down to earth and fun!

Our lessons with Lee were wonderful! We learned things I didn't think were possible; we really looked like we knew what we were doing, and it was comfortable and not scary. They worked with our ideas, our song choice, everything. They even managed to do Zoom lessons and make them worthwhile. While we ended up postponing our wedding, I am really looking forward to resuming our lessons when the world opens up again.

great structure for both group and private classes! We were able to mash up a song and incorporate 2 types of dances for our first dance and it was a HIT!!

I have been taking dance lessons with Lee in preparation for my brother's May 29th, 2021 wedding. Through group and private lessons, I have been exposed to a variety of different dance styles that will easily translate to whatever music is on the playlist. I am really impressed by Lee's expertise in so many dances and his patient and encouraging teaching style. I feel confident that I can get out on the dancefloor and look like I belong there.

My fiancé and I decided that dance lessons were a MUST after attending several weddings with very choreographed dances - while some of the spins were cool, the overall effect was awkward since it was obvious that both dancers were concentrating on performing the exact steps at the exact set time. We both wanted our first dance to look natural... or as natural as possible for two non-dancers to perform start Latin style dancing at their wedding :) We are currently about 1/3 of the way through our dance lessons before our wedding, and we are both thrilled with how we are progressing under Lee's wonderful instruction! We have learned many different moves that are versatile with several different dance styles (which is important since we have yet to finalize our dance and/or song!). I am so thankful for Lee's patience with teaching us the very basics and progressing at a pace that we are able to follow without feeling rushed or stuck. I truly look forward to our weekly Friday classes, and my fiancé and I plan to continue with our dance lessons as a wonderful date activity after our wedding!

Before starting with Beginning Ballroom neither of us had ever taken dance lessons so to say it nicely we had no clue what we were doing on the dance floor. With with Lee and Christine we were able to pick out the style dance we wanted for our first dance and then pick an appropriate song. Lee and Christine taught us a bunch of dance moves so we were comfortable on the dance floor. The dance lessons were fun and the evening hours were convenience with our schedules. Our first dance went great and we got tons of compliments from our guests. We would highly recommend Beginning Ballroom to anyone looking to learn how to dance.

It was awesome working with Lee and Christine over the last year. Going to the beginning group lessons every week for a year taught us many different dances and made us comfortable to look amazing for our first dance. They were down-to-earth and easy to work with. I totally recommend lessons with Lee. My partner and I did 5 in the 5 weeks before our wedding and had a ton of fun. Each one was a date for us! We plan to return for group lessons. Lee's approach makes so much sense. His goal is for you to look confident, enjoying yourself, and skilled JUST enough to impress your guests without going technically overboard. He is a great instructor with a logical approach who tailors that experience for you. We loved our first dance! I had some trouble initially getting in touch and scheduled - don't let that deter you if you do too! once you are there, it's great.

Lee and Christine are consummate professionals who not only know how to dance beautifully themselves but also know exactly how to coach others into learning to dance. Lee taught most of our sessions to prepare for our wedding bridal dance and the two things we most appreciated were 1.) his ability to explain concepts of motion for particular steps by using very apt, relatable, and often amusing analogies (rather than just saying "imitate what I do.") and 2.) the way the Gedanskys make people of any experience level feel comfortable with dance sessions that are genuinely enjoyable.

Our experience with Beginning Ballroom has been nothing but amazing! We ended up taking 13 private lessons to prepare for the first dance at our wedding. We loved our experience working with Lee. He is very knowledgeable yet funny and light-hearted, which is exactly what we needed as ballroom dancing newbies. We were gifted a series of 6 private lessons leading up to our wedding. Our first dance was the part of the big day I was least looking forward to, as I've never been particularly gifted with coordination; dancing was always something that made me nervous (and in front of all those people!?). Hubby-to-be and I decided on a slow song we thought we could pull off, even though it wasn't "our song." At our first lesson with Lee, he asked us what song we'd been thinking of...we shared our pick and the secret that our actual special song was one we thought we couldn't dance to. Without missing a beat, Lee filled us with confidence that "our song" would be the one we worked on, because you only get one first dance! Over the next 6 weeks, Lee taught us the basics of Jitterbug Swing, and the lessons turned out to be the most fun part of planning for our big day, and even more importantly, an awesome way to bring us together once a week to learn something new. It was a blast, to say the very least. We ended up adding on a month of (super affordable) group classes, just because we were having so much fun, and definitely plan to dance again! Our first dance ended up being one of the most special (and fun) parts of our wedding day. Lee and Christine are wonderful instructors. They meet you where you are with unparalleled humor, and build new moves/steps into your repertoire each week so you gradually build up to being able to not just pull off choreography to one song, but actually being able to dance the style you've learned. Dancing and learning with Lee and Christine feels like spending time with old friends.

We had a lot of choices to make when planning our wedding, and working with Lee from Beginning Ballroom was one of the best ones we made. Speaking as a non-dancer with zero experience, Lee was able to take my fiancé and me and turn us into a confident dancing couple. I don’t even know how to explain how great Lee and Christine are! They have truly become our friends in the year of lessons we took! We have received so many compliments on our first dance. So many people have said that it was the best part of the whole wedding! In addition some of our friends have decided to take lessons thanks to how great our first dance was! Beginning Ballroom was incredible and Lee and Christine were AMAZING dance instructors! We would HIGHLY recommend this place for wedding dance lessons. We had never, ever danced before and after lessons with them we looked great on the dance floor! We put on a good performance for our guests. They even helped with planning how long my wedding dress should be for dancing and they were totally right!! Our guests couldn't stop talking about our dancing skills! Awesome instructors who really care about you as individuals and couples. They take time to get to know you. I have significant medical issues and they were able to adapt the first dance to prevent hurting me and taught my husband to support me to ease the strain on my back and knee and to turn a touch slower and no one noticed that we were doing the dance slightly modified. We could not dance at all but with practice sessions (you should get the full package) we were able to Rumba our first dance to a live band (harder than you could imagine as his microphone did not work-but we had planned for all contingencies and it we just smiled through it). Everyone noticed that we were really dancing not just swaying. They are very supportive. We did not know that you can hire them to come to your wedding--we were broke but we would have done this as they apparently (by the stories) said that they pinned up dresses and modified the dance to match the dress at the last minute outside the ballroom. We cannot say enough about how patient and even humorous they could be. The studio is up a set of stairs in the back of their home, but they are the real deal!

We hired two dance instructors to come and dance with our guests at the wedding reception. They were fun, friendly, and wonderful to dance with. Our guests raved about how fun it was to dance with them. I highly recommend them.
