I had Joan as the makeup artist for my wedding last June and I was so happy with how my and my bridal party's makeup turned out! Joan was so accommodating for my makeup trial, and the trial was so helpful for me to finalize what I wanted for my wedding look. She is so kind and pleasant to work with, and her organization and efficiency on the wedding day helped make the morning relaxing and stress-free :) Thank you so much!!

Brittany (who was my make-up artist), Lauren (who was my hair stylist), and the entire Behind the Veil team were fantastic! I had 12 people who needed to get their hair and make-up done for our wedding. The hair and make-up team from Behind the Veil had the ability to be efficient but also make us feel special throughout the entire getting ready process. They were able to handle such a large task ahead of timeline which allowed for a stress-free wedding day. Brittany and Lauren were so receptive with my wedding day vision. From the wedding trail to the day off, they made me feel special and absolutely beautiful. I absolutely loved working with BTV! Our MUA Brittany and hair stylist Rene were both incredibly efficient, flexible, and so so talented! I am not someone who typically wears much makeup or does my hair, but they made me feel so comfortable, beautiful, and like an elevated version of myself. All of my bridesmaids loved how easy they were to talk to and were thrilled with the final product of their looks! I would highly recommend BTV to anyone looking for glamorous bridal beauty and a very relaxing experience getting ready for your big day!

I honestly cannot in good conscious give BTV higher than 2 stars or recommend them as a company, especially to women of color. I contracted with them back in February 2023 for my September 23rd wedding and I am so unimpressed with them. I’m sure they have good artists but I can’t say that was my experience with them. Everyone was so kind but for the amount of money spent with them, I am so unimpressed. I did my hair and makeup trial in March 2023. The makeup artist could not match my skin tone or do anything that was close to my inspo pictures. For context, I can do my own makeup and wear makeup regularly enough. I then did a second and third trial with different artists. Paid for each trial (they comp’d $25 on the 2nd trial and fully comp’d the 3rd trial). For the third artist, I was told I was getting a master artist. I ended up giving up on BTV for makeup artists and booked an entirely different artist for myself but keeping the third makeup artist for my bridesmaids who were not women of color thinking that it’d be easier for her. Not a single person who got their makeup done with her was happy and each spent time redoing her makeup before the ceremony started. As for the hair, I was extremely disappointed. I did a different style for my trial and decided for the wedding I wanted to do hollywood curls. Very clean and sleek curls and I even showed inspiration pictures. The hair stylist spent no more than ten minutes teasing my hair and curling it. I could have done a much better job curling my hair. Overall, a very disappointing experience and I just can’t believe I spent $2,500 on this. Inspiration pics posted versus what my hair looked like. Update: I'm not sure what photos the vendor is referencing in the comment of "You looked so gorgeous in your photos" which leads me to believe they posted a generic response. I did three different trials with three different make up artists and none of them did work that was worth a $200 session despite that I provided very specific feedback after each session with what I was looking for and provided photos of what I was looking for. Communication of what I wanted was not the issue. In addition, during my hair trial I trialed an updo because the stylist said should I want to do it half up or fully down it would be much easier to do. In addition, I paid $200 for a curl job that I could have done much better. Please reference the BTV job (pic of me in a wedding dress) vs how I did my own hair (pic of me in the pink dress). Had I known what I waste of money this would be, I would have searched harder or gone elsewhere. Also, the fact that they do not show any portfolios of stylists until you sign the contract is a red flag. The comment "We receive many inquiries each year along with hundreds of positive reviews because of our team's ability to work with such a wide range of clients" is why I booked with them originally, however, they were unable to place me with the correct artists. I would not recommend this company to anyone unless you have very simple asks.

Jenn and her team at BTV were amazing for my bridal party's makeup! They worked so efficiently and my bridesmaids were all so impressed and happy with their looks. I loved working with Jenn and she was extremely attentive to exactly what I wanted for my bridal makeup, down to the exact shade and contour. During the trial she was so thorough, then during the day of I was pretty stressed about the weather, and she did a fabulous job despite me being very distracted. I had several guests come up to me commenting on how good my makeup looked. I am extremely grateful and would highly recommend Behind the Veil for your wedding!

Behind the Veil Beauty was very responsive to all of my inquiries and requests and they were very easy to work with. I had them do everyone's make-up and about half of everyone's hair (my long time hair stylist did my hair and the other half). I felt they were very reasonably priced and I LOVED my make-up. They really listened to what I liked and did not like for my make-up and did what I wanted without question! All of my bridemaids hair and make-up looked amazing too. BTV was amazing for my wedding in July. Firstly, I had a trial in April and Thea (hair) and Christie (makeup) hit it out of the park. A few weeks before my wedding, I decided I wanted an updo instead of having my hair down as it was going to be very hot/humid. Thea was awesome in talking through the changes with me and hit it out of the park with my updo on my wedding day! BTV was professional, timely, and great to work with. They were fun and started my wedding morning off great! Laurie (who is the bridal coordinator) was responsive, helpful, and easy to work with. I would highly recommend hiring BTV for your wedding!

Behind the Veil was hired to do makeup and hair for myself and bridesmaids. Laurie was an absolute pleasure to work with and made sure everything was booked and all set. Bree was the hair stylist and Christy was makeup artist and they both did a fabulous job they had all of us looking fabulous. Christy had a dance party going in my suite to help us relax and enjoy. They both were fabulous to work with. They had us looking natural while bringing out our best features. I highly recommend behind the veil.

I want to thank Behind the Veil for their fabulous makeup artistry!! My "bride squad" looked amazing and gorgeous! Laurie was an absolute pleasure to work with, her responsiveness, professionalism, and talent were top notch. She took the worry out of makeup for my big day. I am 62 years old, and she had me looking gorgeous and many years younger than I am. You worked true magic, I am so grateful!! Laurie also did a fantastic job on my daughters' makeup, and they are 29 and 33. Our makeup enhanced our features so we looked camera-ready and felt gorgeous. Joan and Maria were the artists for my wedding a week ago. I was worried after my trial, but they alleviated all of my stress and I felt gorgeous on my wedding day. They both worked with my bridesmaids and made them feel comfortable. Maria was able to work with different types of hair. Joan did whatever my bridesmaids wanted, from minimal make up to specific requests. They were both done early on the wedding day and helped with touchups before they left.

I hired Behind the Veil to do the hair and makeup for my wedding day in 12/2022. Maria and Nicole were great. Nicole did my makeup and after showing her just a few pictures and discussing a few things, she was able to take this make up novice and give me a beautiful natural look. I seriously had no critique she did an amazing job! And Maria took it in stride when I asked her to add a braid to my hair style the day of the wedding and gave me curls that lasted all day! It was a great experience and I am so happy with picking BTV for my big day!

Laurie and the artists at Behind the Veil beauty made my wedding day a breeze. From the time of booking, Laurie stayed in contact with me providing timely updates and ensuring that all of my requests were documented. This ensured that the morning of the wedding went off without a hitch! The team arrived early and finished early, which meant that we had more than enough time to ensure that the photographer was able to capture the shots we needed and everyone had the necessary touch ups. Most importantly - everyone looked gorgeous. The makeup accentuated everyone’s beauty and was as subtle or as bold as they wanted it. After my original plans for hair and make-up fell through just a few months before our wedding date, I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to find hair and make-up services that offered exactly what I wanted for myself and my bridal party at an affordable price. However, I consider myself lucky that Behind the Veil happened to have my wedding date available because they provided everything we wanted and more. Both Maria, our hairstylist, and Jenn, our make-up artist, were incredibly talented and a pleasure to work with. They were efficient and also very flexible regarding the order of services and last-minute changes and requests. This put everyone at ease and really helped to make the entire day much more relaxing. I am someone that does not often do much with my hair and I rarely wear make-up, so I was unsure about specific things that I wanted, but Maria and Jenn were both able to expertly determine the perfect look for me based on my comfort level and the specific characteristics of my hair/skin. Behind the Veil was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. They were informative, responsive, and personable in their approach. I used my trial make up as my engagement shoot make up. Joan was incredible at listening to what I wanted and made me feel at ease the whole time. Plus, I loved talking with her about our love for our pets! Joan also did the make up for the bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, flower girls, and me on the wedding day. She did an excellent job managing time and making sure each person had time for final touch ups before the ceremony. I have never felt more beautiful.

Behind the Veil was amazing to work with. Last minute we decided to hire another makeup artist (Kristen!) for our large group (7 bridesmaids, 1 bride, 2 moms), and BTV stepped right in! They were so easy to work with. Kristen did an AMAZING job. The makeup of the girls looked stunning, and lasted the entire wedding event (through many, many happy tears!). I used behind the veil for our hair service (Thea was our stylist) and it turned out amazing! She did a great job with everyone’s hair and it really lasted all night! She did exactly what everyone asked and she is really fast too!

I had such a wonderful experience with Behind the Veil both with their hair and make-up services. My whole bridal party (including myself, my mother, and my mother-in-law) looked amazing!

Behind the Veil did the hair and makeup for me, my 5 bridesmaids, my mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother. They came to our hotel in Stevensville, MD which made the day run so smoothly. They made sure we all looked absolutely STUNNING. Everyone’s hair and makeup looked perfect and stayed perfect all night long. They communicated with me a few months before to schedule my trial, and then again a few weeks before the wedding to finalize the headcount and timeline. On the day of, the stylists texted me to stay in contact about their arrival. They were both so sweet and personable.

I hired BTV for onsite hair and makeup for our wedding. Based on the services that day, the team would get 5 stars, but the communication before the wedding was not so smooth. Your only interaction with the onsite team is day of your wedding, beyond that you communicating with others via email. Unfortunately, the email correspondence is highly lacking. There was an abundance of miscommunication, lack of responsiveness etc. I would have preferred to hire the artists directly, rather than book through BTV.

We originally did not plan for anyone to do our make-up however about two days before the wedding we changed our mind and reached out to Behind the Veil. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us. Scheduling was quite easy. Brittany was super nice, timely, and most importantly, achieved the natural look we were going for. Highly recommend for any occasion.

Christina and Maria did make up and hair for me and my bridal party. Everyone can not stop raving over how sweet, efficient and wonderful these ladies were. Not one person was upset with either make up or hair. One and done! They truly listen to what you want and deliver. I always get nervous about looking like a drag queen with make up- but Christina made me look so natural. You can truly tell that she loves what she does! Huge thank you!

Laurie was so great with scheduling multiple hair & make-up trials to help achieve the look I wanted for my wedding day. The girls- Renee and Kelsey- were so sweet and easy to work with! Renee styled my hair and gave me the romantic, loose up-do I wanted and Kelsey gave me the natural make-up look I was going for. They also did an incredible job glamming up the girls in my bridal party- everyone was so happy with their looks! If you book Behind the Veil for your wedding day, you will not regret it! :)

I would highly recommend Behind the Veil! I was a very last minute bride and Laurie was able to find me the perfect hairstylist, Rochelle. And again being last minute, Laurie and Rochelle were able to squeeze me in for my hair trial. I met Rochelle for the trial and showed her a picture for inspiration. I wanted a braid and the rest of my hair curly but I was nervous because my hair does not hold curls and with my wedding being in September I was super nervous about the humidity. Rochelle was able to do my hair exactly how I wanted it and the curls actually stayed! Then comes the wedding day, Rochelle was super prompt and professional! I even decided that day I wanted to add an additional braid and a hairpiece. Rochelle was so sweet and accommodating and made my wedding hair so much better than I ever could have envisioned! And as an added bonus my hair stayed curled all night, even through dancing! Rochelle also perfectly styled my bridesmaids hair! Which ranged from half up half down to all down with braids. All in all, Rochelle was truly amazing and I would highly recommend Behind the Veil.

I highly recommend their services. They were a joy to work with and made the process so much fun. I worked with Maria for hair and Autumn for make-up. Maria and Autumn were so much fun and patient and allowed you to try different styles during the trial until you were happy with the final style. I will definitely be using their services again for future events. Absolutely loved them!

Words can’t describe how thankful I am for Behind the Veil! They were extremely flexible, easy to work with, understanding, and so talented! The moment I saw their amazing work at my friends wedding, I couldn’t wait to sign up! I wasn’t the easiest bride because of my work shift schedule, uncertainty on what I wanted and also had a black eye on the day of the wedding. But this company did EVERYTHING they could to help me! The team was always on time, energized, and excited to work with us. Holly was accommodating and worked with my mom and I to get our hair just right. We loved her calm, cool and friendly personality! The make up artist, Angela, did SUCH a terrific job on my eye and make up, no one even noticed my black eye the day of the wedding! The make up was striking but so natural! She was perfect! I am so happy with my decision to use Behind the Veil. I went to a trial at a different popular DC/Baltimore area vendor and they really did not wow me. I gave BTV a shot at their salon location (which is beautiful!) and was blown away by their work. Despite how beautiful I felt after my trial, I felt even MORE SO on my wedding day. My bridesmaids, mother, and MIL were also very happy with their hair and makeup. The two ladies we worked with had such a calming presence, which certainly matters a lot when you are spending about 6 hours with them!! The team is professional and great communicators. I would unhesitatingly recommend Behind the Veil Beauty.

Behind the veil was great for our on-site makeup and hair! I have NEVER been in a wedding where we had to move girls around because they were done early instead of being behind schedule. We had more time than we needed for touch up because they worked so fast and well together. It is great that they have a physical location for trials and that you get to work with the girls you trial with (even if you’re like me and book it a year before your wedding). My head artists Heather and Joseline were open to criticism and really worked to make sure I had the look I wanted for the day! They were both so fun to work with and talk to, which really helps when the nerves start setting in. Everything turned out so well and I was so happy with the service.

I was married on Nov 3rd in Baltimore City and selected Behind the Veil for my hair and makeup team. I could not have been happier with Thea and Shanel for hair and Kelsey and Nicole for makeup. Each stylist arrived on time at the designated location and really listened to what each bridesmaid and family member wanted and the level of makeup they were comfortable with. Everyone was thrilled with how their hair and makeup came out, and I could not have been happier with the level of professionalism not only from the stylists but also from the administrative team. Most importantly, the hair and makeup team was very flexible. I had done my hair and makeup trial back in April (which in retrospect was too far in advance) and ended up changing my mind for both hair and makeup on the day of the wedding. Kelsey and Thea were extremely accommodating and with a combination of pictures and descriptions of what I wanted, were able to create the exact look I was going for. It was such an amazing day which was made even better by the fact that I felt beautiful and because working with Behind the Veil was so stress-free.

Behind the Veil really knows how to beautify a bridal party! They were very easy to work with to organize everything ahead of time. The trial was extremely helpful because it gave time to really finalize exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. They were a bit pricy but can definitely say it is well worth the price. We used Behind the Veil for both hair and make-up on my wedding day. Leslie was our make-up artist – and she was wonderful! She knew exactly what each person wanted. We’d describe our “style” in two words, and she would execute our make-up perfectly. My bridesmaids, mother-in-law and flower girl loved her. Maria was also AMAZING! Everyone loved their hair style and Maria knew exactly what to do and was SO quick. Maria and Leslie were both lovely and very sweet. The planning process with Laurie was also a breeze. Her emails were so detailed and thorough, I rarely had questions. She was extremely responsive and helpful, too. Just a wonderful team – highly recommend them (my bridesmaids would, too)!

We had an excellent experience working with Behind the Veil! Our main hairstylist was Renee, and main makeup artist was Kelsey (we did have a second hairstylist and makeup artist so that we wouldn't have to start getting ready too early in the morning, but in the whirlwind of my wedding day, I forgot their names - they were great though!). I did a trial with Renee and Kelsey, and what I liked best about both of them is how they wanted me to feel completely like myself on my wedding day. I gave Renee a general style I wanted, and she created the most beautiful style. I told Kelsey I wanted very natural makeup, and she came up with a style that made me look like the best version of myself :) On the day of the wedding, things went so smoothly. They arrived on time, and got started right away. They kept everything on track, and we were all finished early! They did touch ups, so no one felt like their hair or makeup wasn't fresh because they went first. They kept the day so relaxed for us - we never felt rushed or stressed. Everyone's hair and makeup came out beautifully, and looked amazing in pictures. My wedding party says that it was worth every penny, and I agree!

I will say these girls are so very talented. I felt like a Hollywood glam queen(whatever that is)! I’m known for my make up skills but I wanted to relax and enjoy being pampered so I had to have the best! Leslie turned it out that day making all my girls looking gorgeous as ever. I am so glad I choose Behind the Veil for my wedding day hair and makeup. The girls arrived on time day of and actually finished all our (bride, bridesmaid, mother of the bride) hair and makeup ahead of schedule! Everyone looked so beautiful that day and all our makeup lasted throughout the entire day/night. The makeup looks especially good in all my pictures. The company will travel to you to get ready the day of and are very accommodating with working with any special requests. When I first received my invoice, bride hair and makeup was not included (which was a bit shocking). Other than the slight billing mishap, I have no complaints. I would highly suggest working with them for your wedding day.

I really loved working with BTV because everything was so organized and clear from the very beginning. Our trial went swimmingly and they even added a last minute person to the schedule for us. Our hair and make-up artists arrived early and were able to get started right way. We were all ready ahead of schedule because of their diligence! I'm giving a four for two reasons. The first is that they used so much volume powder on my mom's hair, it looked like she had a white patch of hair. and the other is that despite me saying I wanted my hair "tight" so it would last all night, it still fell out before the end of the evening. Not entirely their fault because I had a blast dancing, but I still think it could've held up better. Thank you!

We loved working with Behind the Veil! Not only were they nice enough to give me, the bride, a second hair and makeup trial for free, but they were also super helpful in picking the best look for me. On the wedding day, I ended up waking up with pink eye in one of my eyes and Heather, my hair and makeup person, was super sweet and nice about it. I used my own makeup and she was able to scrap some of it off of the top so that I would not have to throw all of my makeup away. I would definitely recommend every bride/ bridal party using Behind the Veil as their hair and makeup vendor!

I had a bad experience with the first makeup company I had tried for my wedding so I was very wary as I went forward trying to find a new one. My friend suggested Behind the Veil as they had done her sister-in-law's wedding. Laurie from Behind the Veil put my mind at ease. She was always on top of replying to my messages and was willing to answer any questions I had. The day of the trial I arrived at the salon they work out of and very much enjoyed meeting and working with Nancy. She was very nice and easy going and she wanted to make sure she nailed the vision I had for my makeup. The week of my wedding Laurie made sure to follow up with me regarding a timeline and to give me Nancy's contact information so that I had it if needed. On the big day Nancy arrived on time and ready to work. Again, she was very nice and made sure she was doing everyone's makeup exactly how they wanted it. She stayed until everyone left for pictures just in case anyone needed a touch up which was great. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

BTV was truly amazing to work with for our wedding. From the start, they were extremely responsive with my questions and were so accommodating. The day of the wedding we had Renee for hair and Leslie for make up. Both did a phenomenal job on the wedding party and family. Not only are Renee and Leslie true artists at their skill, they were fun to have around while getting ready. I wanted to work with a company that could offer both hair and makeup services, were well reviewed (just check out the other praise that they’ve received!), and I needed to feel confident that they could complete hair and makeup for a large group of women in a short time frame. The team did all hair and makeup for our wedding day (Bride, Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom) in under four hours, and everyone loved their look!

Behind the Veil provided hair styling and make up services for our daughter's Memorial Day weekend wedding at Celebrations at the Bay. Services were provided for the bride, bridesmaids (7) and mothers of the groom and bride. The results were amazing and the bride and all of the ladies looked stunning. They were very flexible in setting up scheduling for a large party and performed all services at the base hotel location at the Hampton Inn BWI. High quality, responsive, professional. Having a small wedding, I decided to just have my hair done. Our stylist Caitlin was amazing - she made my hair look stunning - and she styled two mothers, four sisters and a flower girl, quickly and with beautiful styles. Everything was organized efficiently - the trial and day of - Caitlin even brought fun music to play while styling. I highly recommend BTV - great people to work with!

BTV did make-up and hair for my family and I. They came highly recommended from my photographer and I see why. Their work is phenomenal and they were such a joy to work with! Our make-up and hair also held up throughout the day and well into the night!

I worked with Behind the Veil for my wedding and they were wonderful. Angela did makeup and Mary did hair. A few months before my wedding I had a trial with both of them and the look was exactly what I was going for. The day of the wedding they came to the wedding site and did hair and makeup for my bridesmaids and everyone seemed to love what they did. My wedding was outside and 90 degrees and my hair and makeup stayed all day/night. I would highly recommend airbrush for a hot, outdoor wedding!

Behind the Veil (Maria) did an excellent job on my hair and that of the bridesmaids, mother of the groom, and grandmothers. I also had a beautiful, natural and touch of smoky makeup. Everyone loved their looks for the day. I had a hair trial (but not a makeup trial) and I would suggest it. It helped to work out the overall design. I had some pictures to guide both hair and makeup and the ladies did a fantastic job. They came to our hotel early (6am) to get everyone started! They were professional and do a great job! Highly recommended!

A month before my wedding, I had a horrible hair trial with a different vendor. I was so grateful to learn that stylists were still available on my wedding day. Caitlin (hair) and Chelsea (make-up) were awesome! Caitlin was great to work with and it was such a relief when she did my hair perfectly at the trial! She was so much fun on the day of and fit right in with my girls. Chelsea is a true artist with makeup and made me feel beautiful! I'm not a big make-up person (normally just wear mascara and eye shadow); she did a wonderful job and it didn't feel like my make-up was caked on. The pictures looked great! Everyone in my wedding party (moms and grandmoms included) were so happy with their hair & make-up. While it's a little pricey, it's well worth the money!

I had no idea where to turn for hair and makeup for my wedding day, because I've never used such services before. I had heard of Behind the Veil through friends and saw that they had good reviews, so I figured, why not? I scheduled my trials and was blown away by what a great job they did! The girls were so nice and they really listened to my requests and opinions. I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup that day from total strangers, and it was only the trial run! Behind the Veil was very patient and accommodating with me (a somewhat frantic bride!) in the weeks leading up to my wedding. They were good about responding to me concerning any of my thoughts and concerns. About a week before my wedding day they sent me a confirmation e-mail that included some very useful tips and reminders for the day of, which I promptly forwarded to my bridal party. It even included my artists' numbers, in case we needed to be in touch! When the big day finally came the girls were punctual and brought everything they needed. They were very calm and fun to work with, and they left me with whatever supplies they thought I might need throughout the day (bobby pins, face powder, etc.). I couldn't have asked for a better team to have with me on my wedding day!!

Angela and Maria are absolutely incredible. They provided such gorgeous hairstyles and makeup to myself, my bridesmaids, grandmother, mother and mother-in-law. They made me look and feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day and I can't thank them enough for everything! I HIGHLY recommend them and their company to any bride looking for hair and makeup for their wedding day!!

We used Behind the Veil for hair and makeup - and all the ladies did a wonderful job. We had a bit of a scheduling problem, but they brought in extra people to make sure the hair was done on-time and we were able to continue on. There may be cheaper people out there, but they did such a good job - you truly get what you pay for! I received so many compliments on my hair that day.

I used Behind the Veil for wedding hair services. Myself, as well as my mom and 3 bridesmaids had our hair done by Thea at the hotel that we got ready at in Frederick. Thea was great at my hair trial, doing numerous styles for me so that I could make a decision. On the day-of she arrived on time and provided excellent hairstyles for all of us. She was friendly and fun to work with and the prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area that are willing to travel.

I was really concerned about finding a make-up artist because I have extremely sensitive skin on my face. A friend’s stylist recommended I contact Behind the Veil and I am so glad I did. The co-owners were extremely responsive and answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease. Being for the DC area, going to the trial was a bit of a haul since the studio they use is about an hour away but in the end, it was worth it. Nicole (make-up) and Young (hair) were our stylists for the day and they did an amazing job on everyone. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the flower girls hair. It fell out fairly quickly, but that may be more b/c she is an active kid and not b/c of her hair style. Our make-up looked natural but heavy enough to look good for pictures and everyone’s hair looked great. Several people have continued to compliment how great all of the ladies looked.

My hair stylist Heather was professional, artistic, creative and quick on her feet. I knew what I wanted but could not find a picture to show her. With a few discriptive words she knew right away what to do and she made my hairstyle even more beautiful then I could've imagened. Without any pitures for guidance she was aslo able to do all the bridesmaids hair to fit my wedding theme (Old Hollywood)
