HISTORY
Bel Air was built in 1740 by Charles and Sarah Ball Ewell, a first cousin of Mary Ball Washington. George and Martha Washington spent a honeymoon night at the home in 1759. Many notable weddings have occurred at Bel Air over the centuries, including that of James Craik, who was Washington's personal physician and Surgeon of the Continental Army. In 1795, Mason Locke "Parson" Weems, who authored the story of George Washington chopping down the cherry tree, married "the beautiful" Fanny Ewell at Bel Air, which later became their home. Bel Air is a Virginia Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I will recommend this beautiful venue to anyone seeking their money's worth. Maria is gracious and accommodating. She did an amazing job with this all-inclusive venue. my favorite part is the bridal/ groom suites, the drippings, and the lighting. The property is gorgeous and I was said to not have had our ceremony outside and taken pictures on the property due to severe weather conditions 😢. I plan to reach out and do a shoot in my dress on the property since I couldn't on that day. She's the absolute BEST and I thank her for all of her help.
Maria was a dream to work with from the beginning! My husband and I felt like she understood all of our visions for our special day! Maria works WITH you and is extremely understanding and flexible. The property is absolutely stunning and it has several perfect spots for those just right pictures! My entire bridal party loved getting ready in the bridal suite! The layout of our party felt like it was out of a magazine! We will forever be dreaming of our wedding day that was made possible with Bel Air 1740. It is Woodbridge's best hidden gem!!
Bel Air 1740 was the perfect venue for my daughters wedding. My son in law is in the army so we had 5 weeks to plan/execute a wedding and our guest list went from 75 to 160. Booking with Bel Air was the best thing we did! The venue itself is exactly what my daughter dreamed, and Maria was amazing to work with even with the last minute booking and constant changes we required. We were able to have the ceremony on the beautiful grounds and then one heck of a party and dancing after in the barn. Can't recommend the venue enough. It was prefect!
My husband and I decided (before even getting engaged) that Bel Air is where we needed to get married. The plantation is a hidden gem in Woodbridge and so very beautiful!
We had the best day and made so many special memories.
Our wedding was everything we could have hoped for and more, thanks to Bel Air. I wouldn't change a thing!!
