As the beautiful gardens gained popularity and recognition, the husband-and-wife duo built a 15-room, 10,500-square-foot residency on the property, designed by local architect George B. Rogers, in 1935. The elegant building was constructed with salvaged red bricks from the home of renowned local suffragette Alva Smith Vanderbilt Belmont and ironwork from the demolished Southern Hotel. Overall, the residence reflects the heritage and style of the region, boasting a slate roof, copper downspouts, and flagstone terraces.  For your once-in-a-lifetime event, Bellingrath Gardens and Home invites you to avail of its magnificent outdoor event spaces to say “I do,” surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty under glorious Southern sunshine.
