ed for a quote based on inspiration images I provided, which clearly showed freshly prepared, house-made brunch items. Pricing was presented based on those images, and at no point during planning was it communicated that several core menu items would be store-bought or frozen. At the event, multiple items — including the chicken tenders, breakfast potatoes, waffles, French toast sticks (instead of French toast), and croissants — appeared premade/store-bought rather than freshly prepared, which was disappointing given the expectations set during quoting. While we unfortunately did not take direct photos of the catering setup, I tried to find guest photos with plates in the background or food packed up after the baby shower, which reflects what was served. After the event, when I raised concerns, I was told that a fully scratch-made menu (including fresh-made waffles, hand-cut potatoes, and house-made breads) would have required a higher price point — which suggested that those items were not made from scratch. However, in later communication, I was told that the croissants, chicken tenders, and potatoes were in fact made from scratch. These explanations were inconsistent and added to the confusion and frustration around what we were actually paying for. Additonally, I would have expected any discussion about a higher price point to occur at the time I requested the quote. Since the quote was requested based on the inspiration photos provided, it’s unclear why pricing was not aligned with those photos, and instead resorted to premade/frozen/store-bought items. To top it all off, despite contracting for 60 guests, food ran out much earlier than expected, with approximately 38–45 people in attendance. Guests were serving themselves normal portions, yet we had to cut items into smaller pieces to ensure availability. Communication throughout was polite, but she did not agree to my request of a partial refund — only a discounted future service, which was not helpful for my once-in-a-lifetime event. I would strongly encourage future clients to get very clear, written confirmation on which items are made from scratch versus premade/frozen, how portions are calculated per guest, and what “serving X people” realistically means for a self-serve event.
