llset we wanted. Then I found Ben Filio through theKnot. He was extremely easy to work with and even met with us a month before the wedding so we could talk about the big day. Ben was open to our ideas and helped us schedule out the timing for all photo ops too.
My husband and I chose him because of his journalistic style. It was most important to me that our photographer capture moments from the day rather than focus on a stylistic portrait shoot. Although, he did make us look like models and delivered absolutely beautiful portraits! By quickly noticing the things that made us "us", he was able to snap the right moments while we posed. Ben and Chris (the 2nd shooter) were also very subtle as they moved around the reception to capture all the fun moments, but were available when our guests wanted a posed photo too.
The wedding photos truly tell the story of our wedding day and embody all of the emotions and fun shenanigans we experienced. I was a little worried that by not getting a videographer we might miss out on capturing the reception, but the photos actually provide a wonderfully vivid rendition of our favorite moments.
I highly recommend Ben Filio Photography to any bride-to-be that wants a thoughtful, relaxed, and truly talented photographer to capture your day!

im I was more interested in candid photos than hours of formal portraits, and that's exactly what he did for us. Also, he gave us the option of an engagement session (which I really wasn't interested in at first) or to discount the package price, and I am really glad we decided to do the session because it gave us the chance to get comfortable with him and having our picture taken together before our wedding day. The pictures from both the engagement session and the wedding are absolutely beautiful, and his prices were probably TOO reasonable! Again, highly recommend- what a great guy!

Since we don't live in Pittsburgh, we did not do an engagement session, and Ben discounted our photo package to reflect that. Looking back, it might have been good to fit in the engagement pictures just so that we could all have a chance to meet in person before the big day.
Prior to the wedding, Ben sent out a form in order to gather important information about the day. On the day of the wedding, Ben was prepared with some beautiful spots in Pittsburgh for our first look, bridal party shots, etc. We are very pleased with the photos, and also grateful that we have digital copies so that we can reprint them using whatever services or companies we like.

I really wanted artistic pictures and not anything too posed though we did get several of those as well for our families. Ben and Andy too soooooo many pictures--seriously! Over 600. And they are all online which makes it easy for our friends and family to view but he also sent us a DVD of every picture. Really happy we went with Ben and I highly recommend him!

He has far exceeded my expectations with both his quality of work and his personality.
Ben’s photographs speak for themselves – I have yet to see one I don’t adore (and that statement’s not limited to my own wedding). Ben's professional but fun and laid-back personality made us comfortable taking photos with him. He excels at providing clear but non-disruptive direction when necessary and at quietly documenting the moments that need no direction. Some of his most beautiful photographs were taken of moments that seemed insignificant at the time, but Ben’s artistic eye allowed him to capture them beautifully. I'm also impressed with how open and approachable Ben has been throughout the wedding planning process. He has maintained communication about scheduling and portrait locations, and he was always available to answer my questions.

Our ceremony was later in the evening. Ben suggested a "first look" photo shoot to ensure we had beautiful pictures together apart from our ceremony. We have received incredible compliments on every picture he took.
He has an incredible eye for a beautiful shot, lighting, and background. I remember him suggesting we stand in front of a tree that he thought would look nice and thinking to myself, "really? this tree?" This photo (which he added to his photos on here with my husband kissing my cheek) ended up being our favorite. Everyone tells us it should be in a bridal magazine.
We both highly recommend him. His prices are incredibly reasonable for the high quality beautiful pictures you will receive of your special day. He was funny and was friendly with the guests. He really went beyond our expectations. We love Ben.
