Ben is the greatest. Not only is he the best photographer, he’s an absolute gentleman and one of the funniest people I have ever met. His humor gets you to relax and that’s when he goes to work. If you’re not used to posing for pictures, no worries - Ben knows what he’s doing. If you let him do what he does best, his creativity and artistic eye will capture moments that you’ll look back on and be transported right back to. He also works with his wife Karis, who is amazing and they compete to see who gets the picture of the day. I recommend him to everyone I know. If you need someone to, not only capture moments, but to make you feel confidently yourself in the photos - Ben Lau is your man.

You only need one photographer and that is Ben Lau! His vision and the way he captures his photos are impeccable. I have never had such a great photographer than in Ben Lau. I knew Ben was the one when he returned back the Save the Date Photos and WOW!!! If you don't know what to do in photos, Ben will direct you and tell you what to do! Ben is top notch and patient! Even when people were screaming at him and getting in his way, he showed the utmost patience! i just love everything about him! If you don't use him for your photos, then you might as well just have a subpar event!!. Hire Ben immediately! The best in the game!!!

Ben and his team (including his wife Karis) are the absolute best there is. From my very first phone call with him over 2 years ago, I could tell he was beyond professional, knowledgable, experienced, passionate about his work, and just a really awesome person! And we can say he's awesome with confidence- we got to know him well because we spent 2 hours in the car with him on our way to our engagement photos on top of Bear Mountain! Those engagement pictures turned out absolutely STUNNING and we've received endless amounts of compliments on them. Not only were our pictures stunning but we had the best experience working with Ben from day one through communication over a 2 year covid engagement/postponed wedding, to our unforgettable wedding day/night. Ben also truly knows how to handle the rowdiest of groups! A wedding party of 20 people, flower girl/ring bearer, LARGE families, a big wedding, etc. He remains calm, patient, comedic (we love his jokes!) and purposeful through it all. There is no secret that we wanted to work with you since you photographed a wedding that i was in. Your patience and ability to remain calm in all the frantic moments showed me that you would be perfect for my wedding one day. On top of that, your passion for photography and knowledge of the craft as well as the beautiful photos you create made it an easy decision. For our engagement shoot we talked about going on boardwalk rides to get really amazing shots and despite your insane fear of heights you responded DONE !! No questions asked, no matter how nauseous it made you. Their aren’t enough words to express our thanks and gratitude for all the CRAZY things you have done while working with us, including our 13.5 hour photo shoot / adventure/ road trip through sand dunes, Red Rock Canyon, alien brothels, a dry lake bed, a ghost town with jumping cacti, and finding Area 51. You two are the epitome of what it means to be truly genuine human beings. It is the reason that we loved having you shoot our wedding and even more so to share some unbelievable adventures with you. Ben is an amazing photographer and a wonderful person! He did my brother and sister in law's weddings a few years back so got a chance to know him and his work then. We haven't gotten our wedding photos done yet (currently scheduled for the end of October 2020), but loved our engagement session and photos he did (we used two of them for our save the date!) Not only have they been great to work with, during this time of uncertainty, he's been super responsive and flexible in creating a plan B!

Ben and Karis were the photographers for my brothers wedding and based not only on the quality of pictures but on how they are able to handle the groups of people they need to photograph, we were more than impressed. Ben was flexible and professional to work with, responded to emails quickly, and helped us our with even non-photography related planning. We were amazed at all the pictures two people could get and the quality of the images are spectacular. Could not recommend them enough!

Their work truly speaks for itself, so rather than telling you about how beautiful and spectacular our photos came out (which they absolutely did!), let me tell you about the overall investment you are making when you choose Ben Lau Photography. After booking our venue, my now-husband and I knew that photography was our top priority. Like they say, after the dancing, the booze, and the cake, the one thing you get to take away are beautiful photos. From day one, we loved Ben – especially my husband - the inner-nerd in both of them sparked quite the bromance. He is always easy to talk to and he was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. Our engagement shoot gave us the opportunity to really get to know Ben’s style. He made something that we thought would be awkward, incredibly fun and relaxing. Even when my silly husband decided to wear brand new dress shoes, Ben came through with a fresh pair of SOCKS so that my hubby could be more comfortable! Fast forward to our wedding weekend (that’s right, weekend, we had a Cambodian ceremony on Saturday, and American wedding and reception on Sunday), Ben and Karis were amazing. The Cambodian wedding at my parent’s house was chaotic to say the least, yet Ben and Karis were unphased. Our family even complimented how respectful they were to our traditions, as well as how quick and efficient they were at getting our must-have shots. Sunday was no different. Ben and Karis never missed a beat. They didn’t spend a long time posing us or making corrections. Ben never forgot a family member and Karis captured every little detail. Everything was so organized and my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our best day ever. TLDR; When you choose Ben Lau Photography, you are not only choosing to have beautiful photos of your special day. You are choosing two professionals who quickly become friends. You are choosing to not have to worry about the guys’ bowties. You are choosing dad jokes that will even make your FIL chuckle. Where do I begin with telling you how awesome Ben is?! We had so much fun with Ben that I sometimes forget he is our photographer. He knows just the right things to say to make you smile and laugh naturally so he can capture those moments. What is worst than those forced and unnatural smiles in any pictures? Photography was my top priority for the wedding and knowing how picky I am with pictures, I was fortunate to find Ben on my extensive search on Google. We loved his work and knew he was our photographer! We booked him right away after our first call. Ben and his wife Karis are wonderful and were always responsive and helpful to any questions we had making the process so much easier. We had our first glimpse of how great Ben is during our complimentary engagement shoot. He made sure we got the best angles and photos by adjusting himself on the floor, behind a fountain, whatever you can think of it, he would do just to get that perfect shot. Ben (and his wife Karis) are amazing photographers! Not only is their work phenomenal quality, creative, and unique, but they are so helpful, professional, and fun to work with. My husband and I hired them to do our wedding photos on 8/10/18 (which we can't wait to see!), but Ben also did an engagement shoot with us which gave us a preview into what it would be like to work with him (amazing!). Besides an amazing quality of work, the thing that was most important to us was being comfortable with our photographer - considering this person is going to be by your side pretty much constantly on the most important day of your life it's definitely something to seriously consider, and what's amazing about Ben + Karis is they really put you at ease. You can count on them to ensure you will get beautiful photos that capture the most important moments of your special day, but you can also count on them to make you laugh and ensure you're having fun throughout the process. Additionally, outside of the actual shoots Ben + Karis are super responsive, and go above and beyond to help throughout the planning process. Ben gave us recommendations for other vendors, including the videographer that we ended up working with, who was also amazing. We couldn't be happier with our choice to work with Ben + Karis, and are happy to recommend them to any and everyone who needs photographers...can't wait until we have an excuse to work with them again someday :)

Hiring Ben was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Before finding Ben, we met with so many photographers and couldn’t find a great fit for one reason or another (didn’t seem easy to work with, the photographs on their website weren’t indicative of how most of their photos looked, we weren’t getting that personalized service we were looking for, etc...). We were relieved to be able to check everything off of our list with Ben. He got to know us through a few in-person meetings, lots of emails back and forth, and our engagement shoot. He is very easy to work with because he’s so flexible and responsive. Everything is straight forward with the contract. On location he gave us the right amount of direction, and was just fun to have around, which we knew would be important to us on our wedding day (you spend a lot of time with your photographer on the biggest day of your life so it helps to have a fun easygoing person around!). Most importantly, our photos are AMAZING. He surpassed all of my expectations. We have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful they are. (And now my husband understands why I dragged him to meet so many photographers before we found Ben!)

When MJ and I started planning our wedding, we had no doubt we wanted to hire Ben for our wedding. He caught the natural beauty and love in each and every picture we saw and wanted that authenticity. I met Ben for the first time during our First Look. He was personable and created the perfect romantic setting when MJ and I saw each other for the first time. Throughout the shoot, he made such a huge effort to get us comfortable in front of the camera by making jokes and just getting to know us. He had us laughing hysterically at times. The tone went from us being nervous wrecks to genuinely enjoying the moment. He gave us great direction to make sure we would look amazing! At the wedding, Ben and Karis gave us the ultimate treatment. They were so easy to work with and it was less stressful being in the center of attention with familiar faces behind the camera! Ben took the time to put the boutonnière on MJ and my grandpa to make sure they were secure (he pricked his finger and powered through the shoot)! He even helped my family take pictures before getting the perfect shot which was amazing. Ben and Karis helped to make our wedding perfect and it truly was a dream come true! I can’t wait to see the photos and I have no doubt they will be perfect and breathtaking. I’m so glad we hired them to document our wedding I can’t imagine sharing this day with anyone else!! I appreciate everything they did to make our day simply magical.

I knew that I wanted to book Ben as our wedding photographer before I even spoke to him, just from looking at his blog. In my search for a photographer, I grew tired of seeing the same stock wedding photos. The originality of Ben's photos, and his documentary style, caught my attention immediately. The photos speak for themselves, but it just so happened that Ben and Karis were the nicest people ever, and an absolute dream to work with. I left our engagement shoot (which was a little less than a year from our wedding date) already imagining how amazing the wedding day photos were going to be. Ben made us feel super comfortable and went out of his way to get the most creative shots--even laying down on the freezing cold concrete to get a beautiful reflection on a puddle after the morning rain. Ben and Karis were also super helpful with things completely unrelated to photography. Not being from New Jersey, I had trouble finding hair and makeup artists, and mentioned this to Ben. He ended up giving me a list of some artists that he had worked with before, and I ended up choosing one of them for my hair--she was amazing! Ben and Karis planned out our entire day and kept us on schedule so that we could enjoy every minute of our wedding, but also get all of the shots we wanted. All in all, I can't recommend Ben and Karis enough! The quality of the images that we received is unparalleled. Compliments all around from family, friends, and complete strangers who have stumbled across our photos on social media.

As soon as we got engaged I knew that choosing a photographer would be one of the toughest decisions we’d have to make since photos meant so much to me. As soon as we met with Ben and Karis in their home for the first time, we felt so comfortable and knew we could have 100% confidence in their work. Thankfully, we were not wrong! In the months leading up to our engagement shoot I obsessively followed their blog and swooned over all of the dreamy photos that I could only hope ours would turn out like. Although we’d been together for about 7 years at the time, we had never been one of those picture perfect, look at us so in love all over social media type of couples (you know the ones I’m talking about!) Luckily for us, Ben showed up to our engagement shoot and started delivering jokes like a pro…oh and his posing direction was pretty awesome too (ladies, you’ve been doing the skinny arm all wrong.) He kept us laughing and most importantly, kept us feeling at ease in front of the camera. The photos came out more beautiful than we could have ever hoped for! Not to our surprise, the experience we had on our wedding day was just as great. When Ben and Karis showed up to my parents’ house I felt like I was greeting friends who just so happened to be there to follow us around all day with cameras (seriously, they are so down to earth #relationshipgoals.) We felt completely at ease all day because we knew we had the best photographers capturing the best day of our lives. We could not be more grateful that we found Ben Lau Photography online shortly after our engagement and that we went with our gut and didn’t bother to meet with other photographers after meeting with Ben. BEST DECISION EVER!

Working with Ben and Karis was an absolute delight. They have great ideas for photos and took a good mix of images--during our engagement shoot, Ben primarily took the more photo journalistic style that we prefer, but suggested two more traditionally posed shots "for the parents," and sure enough, those were my mother-in-law's favorites! Everyone got what they wanted without having to compromise. Of all the wedding photographers we spoke to when we were researching, they were by far the most responsive and professional, and had answers to all of our questions, often before we even had to ask. On our wedding day, the groomsmen raved about hanging out with Karis during the getting ready, and she even helped show them how to prepare their pocket squares. Ben and Karis were great about making us feel relaxed and made us laugh during the portraits, but were also completely unobtrusive during the ceremony and dancing; I was really able to focus on the moment during the ceremony and no one felt self conscious during dancing, which is not always the case at other weddings I've been to. For both our engagement shoot and our wedding day, we had some challenges with the weather, and Ben was able to adapt and provide great suggestions without ever making it feel like this was "Plan B." We loved our engagement photos, and I can't wait to see the wedding pictures!

Ben and Karis were our photographers for our wedding yesterday and I really can't say enough about how amazing they were. not only are they extremely talented but they are just wonderful, positive, patient people! The husband & wife team of Ben Lau Photography can be summed up in 2 words, simply amazing. From the start when we sat down with them to discuss our wedding, we felt like we were meeting up with old friends. They clearly explained their shooting style and as a newly engaged couple, provided us with wedding/vendor advice. First, our engagement photos with them were breathtakingly jaw dropping. They spent an entire day shooting with us, making my fiance's vision of an 'old Shanghai style' shoot become reality. When we received the photos back, everyone we showed them to were blown away. Ben's style and use of natural light really bought out the beauty and depth of emotion in the pictures. For our wedding day, my mother-in-law loved our engagement photos so much, she made us hire another photographer from Ben so she would have photos of her own! We also opted to go with their open air photo booth, which gave a red carpet feeling and allows you have a larger group in the photo. Our wedding was a week ago, so we haven't received our pictures back yet, can't wait to get them back from such a highly talented team! Highly recommend Ben Lau Photography!!

My experience with Ben Lau Photography was absolutely AMAZING! I honestly cannot say enough great things about Ben and Karis to do them justice. From beginning to end, they were professional, knowledgeable, and extremely reliable. Throughout the planning process they were very helpful and easy to reach. Our engagement shoot was fantastic, as they were so creative! I wasn’t sure how to even start creating a schedule for the bridal party the wedding day, and Ben and Karis were so great in helping me create one. We were married outside in June in New Jersey, so clearly I was very concerned about the weather. However, Ben continually told me that it would all work out and to not worry about the weather. Luckily we had perfect weather, but even if we didn’t, I know Ben and Karis would have made it work either way. On the day of the wedding, Ben and Karis were on time and of course their expertise showed, as they knew exactly where to shoot throughout Liberty State Park to get the most beautiful shots. Even when my bridal party was running a little late with hair and makeup, Ben kept me calm and said we would make it work. And of course they did! The day went so smoothly and I accredit a lot of that to Ben and Karis! The photo booth was great too! It is open, so you don’t have to try to cram people into a little booth, and my guests loved getting real pictures instead of the little strips. Overall, I was thrilled to have Ben Lau Photography shoot my wedding! My pictures are stunning! I would recommend them to anyone! THANK YOU Ben and Karis!!

We came from Melbourne Australia and from the moment I 'googled' and then emailed Ben his support and attention to detail was 2nd to none. Not only did he offer to pick us up and drive us around from location to location, after asking us a few questions about what kind of pics we wanted he planned the most perfect shoots. We did an engagement session and a wedding session.. On our wedding day he was very much part of our small (5guests including been) wedding party! We treasure our photos and memories! We are from Florida and were taking a trip to NYC for our wedding anniversary. I never did a bridal session, so we packed my wedding dress and took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have bridal photos taken in Central Park. Ben did an awesome job and we will treasure the photos forever!

When choosing my photographer I knew I wanted someone who wasn't just going to treat us like any other wedding, but someone who would really get to know us and make us feel comfortable. Ben and Karis were just that. I love that we are fb friends and I get to know them on an every day basis. I also love that Ben truly loves what he does. He even trekked in the middle of a snow storm to come meet us! His photos are phenomenal, and while getting your picture taken can be a little nerve wracking rest assured Ben has a few jokes up his sleeve just to make you laugh. In short Ben Lau is worth every penny. He will work with you, get every shot you want, is patient, kind and such a pleasure to work with. I can't tell you how many people commented on how amazing our engagement photos were and I'm dying to see our wedding photos! Ben is an amazing photographer. Every single one of our pictures turned out perfectly, I had a really hard time picking them for my album. Every time he posts sneak peaks of some of his other clients it makes me want to have a wedding all over again, just so I can have more pictures done by him. Ben also managed to make my extremely camera shy husband feel very comfortable, which only helped our pictures look even better. I highly recommend Ben for any couple getting married. We travelled from the UK to get married in New York on the 25th of November 2011, been had great communication with us & interpreted exactly what we wanted from our photographs and more! I have not stopped getting compliments from the beautiful photos Ben took of our wedding one beautiful, snowy day in NYC, Dec 2013. I consider myself fairly picky with the quality of photographs and it took a while to find someone just right. My research paid off. Ben's photographs tell a beautiful story of our special day. I cannot stop looking at the pictures - Ben has captured every moment in wonderful detail, from our laughter at City Hall, to tears when we said 'I do'. I genuinely had a jaw-dropping moment when the photos arrived with us and hundreds of comments from friends who were bowled over by the amazing shots. If one more person tells me I look 'stunning'.... I had always wanted to look my best on my wedding day but I couldn't believe how beautiful I looked in these pictures. The light on our faces, the textured shots, the emotion (I hadn't even realised he had been there for many moments), we look so wonderfully natural and happy. I don't have any other pictures of me that are anything like these. Classy, elegant, creative without being unnatural, we absolutely loved our day and loved the beautiful photographs Ben took of it. Both Ben and Karis work wonderfully together, we had never met yet felt comfortable from the moment they arrived with us. They directed us as needed but allowed us to be comfortable just as we were. From the moment I emailed for a quote, the service was phenomenally professional. Ben and Karis are responsive to emails and are more than happy to answer any questions you have throughout the process. We were driven around NYC for the day, given a chance to look at sample albums in the car, as requested (since we were only going to be in NYC a couple of days!) and given wonderful advice on where and when to get the best shots (as we had never before been to NYC). Extremely good value for money -time spent as promised and then some.... We had a religious, formal wedding in France and had we not already booked a local photographer, would have flown Ben and Karis to France for the event. We were so very happy with their pictures from NYC. My husband wanted to surprise me a few days' later for Christmas and asked Ben to sneakily send him one or two pre-proofed shots for my Christmas present. Despite being busy and Christmas a few days' away, Ben delivered as promised. What a wonderful surprise to open my present on Christmas Day. I really cannot say enough about this phenomenally talented photographer. My husband and I will truly treasure our pictures forever.

Being a photographer myself, I had very high expectations of my wedding photographer. I had a list of 60 area wedding photographers and Ben made it to my top 3. I ultimately decided to go with Ben because he was prompt and courteous on the phone. The questions he asked me showed he had the people skills to engage my family and bridal party while taking photos. His portfolio showed the attention to detail I desired to see. We had a (literally) all day wedding involving multiple locations (the church, reception hall, another location for bridal party shots, and an after party). I thought for sure that Ben and Karis would bail at some point - but they stayed the whole way through! Incredible! Our photos came in the timeframe he told us at the beginning and they definitely met our expectations! Fantastic work that we will cherish for a lifetime.

My husband and I hosted an intimate wedding ceremony in our Brooklyn apartment (12/8/11). We secured Ben Lau for our special day and we were so pleased. He made our ceremony feel glamorous and captured all of the amazing details. Working with Ben feels like working with a family friend. I used Ben for my wedding on Oct 12, 2013 and was overall very happy with him and Karis! They both really understood what we were looking for in a photographer and delivered amazing photos! They met us bright and early the day of and stayed till the very end and ended up capturing some great shots of the reception. We used Ben Lau Photography for our engagement and wedding photos, and it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Ben and Karis, a husband and wife team, are two amazing artists that are also SUCH nice people! We felt so comfortable with them when we had our initial meeting, and they answered all the questions we had without even needing to be asked. They also were more than willing to work with us to come up with the perfect package that fit our budget. Their photo style is beautiful, and if you choose them, you won't have the traditional pose-y photos, but gorgeous shots that capture the feelings and moments of the day beautifully. They were open to our ideas regarding our engagement photos, and while it was a little awkward getting photographed for the first time, they made us feel comfortable, and Ben provided tons of jokes to make us smile! On our wedding day, they showed up on time, and they were there as soon as we started getting ready, and didn't leave until the reception was over. They helped us create a beautiful first look scenario, and they made our bridal party and family feel comfortable when getting all the photos taken. I know we spent awhile on photos, but it honestly didn't seem like long at all! During the ceremony and reception, we didn't even see them, yet somehow they were right there getting all the perfect shots the whole night! Our photos are absolutely amazing and exceeded all of our expectations. The only problem we have is trying to figure out which ones we want to display, because we want to hang them all on our walls! We received so many compliments on all of our photos, and our family and bridal party loved them too, because they made the whole process so effortless for everyone. Ben and Karis are wonderful people who truly love what they do, and it is so apparent in their work that this isn't just a job for them, but their passion. You will not regret choosing them as your wedding photographer!!

My husband and I got engaged on 12/25/2010 and planned to have a 3 year engagement so we could take our time to save and plan. But there was one thing we had to do first...before picking the venue, the date, the color scheme, etc....we knew we had to book Ben Lau Photography. His creative and artistic photos will make you feel like you are being photographed for a magazine. Our engagement photos were amazing but our wedding photos were exceptionally spectacular. We had the pleasure of both Ben and Karis on our wedding day and not only were they there with us the whole day (almost 12 hours) but they worked non stop and had a great attitude the whole time. If you decide to do a first look (which I highly recommend), Ben will utilize his creative juices and capture some pretty unique and awesome shots for you. He is professional but funny and personable, busy but will always respond in a timely manner, and always flexible and can work with your requests. We cannot speak more highly of Ben Lau Photography and would def recommend him for all couples getting married! You won't regret it!! :)

Ben and Karis stole our hearts from the very first email! I stalked Ben on Facebook and on his website for a while before contacting. I was so amazed by all the wedding and engagements pictures he had taken. Choosing this dynamic duo was the easiest decision during our wedding planning process! Our engagement session began at 2:30am (they are such troopers!!!) in Times Square. Ben and his assistant, Chris were so fantastic! They had us laughing and smiles throughout the entire session. The results reflected the amount of hard work they put it and how much fun we had! The wedding was equally as awesome. Ben, Karis, and their assistant showed up ready to share in the best day of our lives! Ben was incredibly stealthy and worked great with our videographer. Karis managed a rowdy group of groomsmen wonderfully! The Photobooth was another great decision! They had endless props that our guests enjoyed to the fullest! It is also open air so we fit a large amount of people instead of the stuffy sitting photo booths. They were incredibly flexible with our schedules and just so easy to work with. If you want all the unforgettable memories of you engagement and wedding day artistically captured by the most amazing individuals in the business, then most definitely hire Ben Lau Photography!! From the moment my fiancé and I met Ben and Karis, we knew we had found exactly what we were looking for. They had the perfect attitude for us: relaxed yet resourceful, playful yet professional. And the photo’s completely reflect that style. We wanted a creative, photojournalistic flair and they definitely delivered. The results captured all the joy and nerves and relief and euphoria that made it the best day of our lives. Moreover, they have an amazing ability to adapt to whatever curve ball is thrown at them without blinking an eye. When our outdoor photo shoot was rained out, when hair and makeup went hours over schedule, when my fiancé disappeared on an impromptu golf outing hours before the vows… they took in stride while keeping me cool as a cucumber. We truly could not have been more pleased with our decision.

I actually found Ben and Karis through a google search. I contacted Ben and he and Karis came all the way to Staten Island from Jersey to meet with me. When Ben found out he was the first photographer I had met with he explained that he would obviously love to photograph my wedding but encouraged me to look around and make certain I was sure. Not something you hear from wedding vendors EVER. This really just showed that Ben and Karis were not out to just get another paying customer but rather really wanted to make sure I had the best photographer for my wedding, someone I felt comfortable with and would be happy with. Ben's photos were just amazing and he really was such a bargain. Trust me, I researched photographers in the tri-state area for 1 month straight and for the quality of his work Ben's prices were definitely reasonable. Ben and Karis and their assistant MJ showed up at the hotel the day of the wedding bright and early. Unlike other photographers who will charge you based on how many hours they are shooting (and most of them only offer 4 or 5 hour packages) Ben said he would show up the morning of and not leave until the wedding was over. The day of the wedding Ben, Karis, and MJ were so great. They weren't in our faces the whole time and did not obstruct the guests from being a part of our day (there's nothing worse than a photographer blocking the whole aisle of a church so that no one can see the actual ceremony). Our photos came out AMAZING. Great bridal shots as well as hilarious dance floor shots. We also got the photo booth which was probably the highlight of the wedding. I would like to say more great things about Ben but I have limited space! I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic photographer!

Ben and his wife Karis did our engagement shoot and final wedding photos. We met them at another wedding and instantly fell for their fun and quirky charm! The most important thing about finding a photographer is to like the people who are going to be up close and personal. Ben and Karis are so much fun to be around. You barely notice they are there. They fit right in with our family, friends and bridal party. Not to mention they have enough respect to dress-up for the event! I'm pretty sure Ben was more dressed up than half of our bay-area guests :) In my aunt's words, we "looked like a Romantic Korean Drama" in our engagement photos. Even though it was raining, Ben and Karis quickly thought of incorporating their kid's umbrella (airplanes and all) into our photos. It definitely added some fun to a dreary day. The colors turned out so vibrant and striking. We even used the photos for our actual wedding as part of the decor. For our wedding, they stepped up once again. They were with us all day. From 8 am to midnight! They were able to capture some beautiful candid moments as well as understood the ins and outs of the Chinese Traditional aspects of the wedding that needed to be captured. They are great!! Hire them no matter where you are. We flew them in from New Jersey to San Francisco!

Ben and Karis were one of our favorite vendors for our wedding. We stumbled across them as potential photographer candidates during some initial research. At the time, they didn't have as many past pics for us to look at but their friendliness, responsiveness, and eagerness to go above and beyond charmed us from the start. We have never regretted this decision. Since the time we booked them, their business has exploded and each new picture is better than the last. They are consistently willing to go beyond expectation with everything they do--Ben spent hours in the 110 degree heat during our engagement shoot and even drove us home. By the time our wedding rolled around, we were as excited to see them as many of our friends and family. Their talent is evident the moment you see their work but it's really their amazing attitude behind the scenes that makes you want to recommend them to all of your friends--and we have (three other weddings, in fact!) Skip the drama, over-the-top pricing, and egos that surround some of the other photographers in the business and go for the two people who will not only give you beautiful photos but will also make you feel at ease throughout the whole process. Love them!

I can't even begin to explain how awesome Ben and Karis are and how amazing their photos are! I am so in love with our photos! Looking at the pictures brings me back to the day that went by too quickly and allows me to enjoy everything all over again! Somehow they managed to capture even the smallest moments and details and brought them back to life! Not only did I proclaim Ben the 6th bridesmaid, but Karis with the help of their assistant Connie helped the groom with his tie and suspenders. They captured the fun like me jumping on the bed, happy tears as the gifts were exchanged and moments with our parents and bridal party we can always treasure. when a few raindrops ruined our original photo spot, Ben and Karis were right there making our back up plan happen. He even came with us in the party bus to capture the fun on the way to the reception! (and we all know how rowdy the party bus can get...) as the night went on Karis and connie worked the photobooth and ben was never out of my sight. Im sure I yelled Ben a few times to get a photo-op with a guest on the dancefloor! I can't wait to see the images from our wedding. for as fast as it goes I know I will be able to relieve it through Ben Lau Photography. If you are a bride looking for a photog that not only "gets" it but will stop at nothing to give you the best pictures and personal tender love and care, this is your guy. Ben and Karis are not only amazing photographers but amazing people and one day I hope Ben can photograph our family and all the other milestones life has to offer.
