I've had it with Best Cleaners. They were only moderately crappy three years ago. Now the place is run by incompetents and staffed by incompetents. In my view, anyone using Best Cleaners is a fool -- and that includes me for using them until now.
When I moved up here from town, I realized it was the country and things would not be as smooth as in more cosmopolitan settings. Still, I have been dealing with cleaners and laundries since I was packed off to school as a teenager (a very long time ago) and on three continents and in very rural settings. But Best Cleaners has set a record for stupidity that I cannot imagine being beaten.
The most recent problem started at the beginning of fall when I had my winter clothes returned from storage. A third of the items were missing -- most notably, my winter coats. They were found a week or so later and brought over. The overcoat's seams were split. The duffle coat's faux-leather bits were melted. I took them back to be fixed.
When I picked up the overcoat, I checked the seams; they were still split; no work had been done. It stayed another week.
Fixing the duffle coat was a whole new adventure. "O we have to order special parts," I was told. It took two and a half months for those parts to arrive. I went to pick up the coat: The toggles had been sewn on backward -- on the left side of the coat rather than the right. Add to this, when pressing the coat, the new faux-leather bits had been melted again. What is particularly irksome: For ten bucks (if that), the stupid gits at Best could have gotten hold of some nylon cord or rawhide cord and stitched the whole thing together in 20 minutes.
Three years is enough. I'm tired of having things come back damaged (I lost two Bobby Chan silk shirts to those incompetents -- clearly left in the sun and bleached out). I'm tired of having stuff go missing for a week or two. These guys admit the mistakes and are willing to make good -- but why make the mistakes in the first place? Is it so effing hard to keep track of goods when they have bar-code tracking tags in them? [The only positive: I now keep meticulous lists of items I take to the cleaner's.]
I have seen other customers with problems: Just the other day, a woman was in wondering where the belts to her belted coats had gone. The high-flying management person hadn't a clue; the front-desk person -- low end of the totem pole -- was able to find the belts. Verbum sapientiæ sit: Best Cleaners should tie a can to the current management staff's collective tail and promote the few, relatively low-level people who actually understand getting the job done right.
Best Cleaners did a wonderful job on my wedding gown cleaning and preservation. They were extremely professional and available. They kept me on up to date on the status of the cleaning and when I received it, it was beautifully preserved. I would highly recommend best cleaners for special garment care, especially wedding dresses!
The Best Cleaners Guilderland location did a fantastic job on cleaning my wedding dress. I dropped it off several months ago covered in dirt and mud with the expectation of it not being able to be cleaned 100% knowing how soiled it was. Erika the wedding gown specialist did a fabulous job working tirelessly to get my gown clean again. It took her some time but she excepted the challenge willingly and would not return the dress to me until she could remove all the mud and stains. Their customer service was fabulous as well as their communication, their overall dedication to the job was phenomenal. I highly recommend best cleaners for wedding gown cleaning and preservation as well as every day cleaner needs. I will certainly recommend them to anyone in need and be returning for future needs. Thank You!
Any questions?
I got married 14 years ago. I opened my dress to look at it after all this time, it was stated to be cleaned already, but when i opened it up the old cleaners never did it. I took it to Erika at Best Cleaners on State Street in Schenectady and ALL the spots came clean. It looks as though I never wore it even after 14 years of all the stains being set it. Its amazing. I wish I could wear it all over, but I wouldnt fit in it again though! LOL. Regardless Best Cleaners is the way to go.
they were quick, reliable and professorial
I used Best Cleaners in Delmar to Clean my dress prior to my wedding as I purchased my dress off the rack at David's Bridal. I also used their seamstress to put the bustle in my dress, fixing some beading, and taking the buttons in an inch or so. I left my dress there and was told someone would call me to let me know how much it would cost to clean the dress since it depends on the dress material. No one EVER called me to tell me the price. I got a call saying that it was cleaned and that I should come in to begin the alterations. So I went to have her pin it for the alterations, but when i put it on in the dressing room, it got dirty again from their filthy floors. I pointed this out and was promised it would be cleaned. The seamstress was very nice and did a great job fixing the beads and taking the buttons in as I had lost a bit of weight since purchasing the dress. I was not so impressed with the bustle however since there were hooks that came undone several times throughout the night and part of my dress dragging in the back. Which of course led to me stepping on it and made for some not so great photos. Now for the cleaning. I had them keep the dress until a week prior to the wedding so that it would be freshly pressed. When I picked it up and brought it home, there was a BLACK spot on the front of my dress that was not there prior to them cleaning it. Not to mention that the bag (newly purchased from David's Bridal) was Filthy at the bottom with two quarter size holes in it. I called and was told to bring it in the next day which I couldn't since I had to work and live 45 minutes away. I ended up calling the first morning I was able to bring it in and was told to bring it to the Latham store and it could be taken care of that day. So I brought it to the Latham store and they had NO IDEA what I was talking about. I spoke with the "wedding dress" person on the phone and she promised me that if I left it there over night she would have it back to me the next day, clean and pressed. So I left it there and came back the next day to pick it up, this time checking it over VERY carefully and the black spot was gone, but another smaller black spot appeared on the back. I was again put on the phone with a manager who promised me I would get 30% back from the cleaning I originally paid for. It has been over a month and they have giving me nothing back. I WOULD NOT HAVE MY DRESS CLEANED HERE OR PRESERVED. Once it's preserved in a box, you'll never know how many black spots there are until you take it out many years later!
my dress looks like its never been worn love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
