We are so happy to have chosen to have our wedding at the Kelly Inn! The food was amazing, location was convenient, and the ballroom was beautiful and perfect for our guest size of...
about 225. Most importantly, Dana and her staff were so easy to work with and everything ran smoothly from the beginning!! The night was very organized and staff were very attentive! They checked in while we were decorating the night before, while we were getting ready the morning of, and throughout the reception. Dana is very good at what she does, and I felt confident from the beginning that we made a great choice having our wedding reception here!!! :)
Planning up to the wedding went quite well aside from occasional lack of accessibility. The week before our wedding, the coordinator (Cassie) took vacation -which is just fine!- b...
ut she did not coordinate with the Sterling lead (Michelle) on any of our details and plans making ordering food difficult and frustrating as we were left in the dark. We actually wondered if we would even have food for our wedding because of this lack of communication. They did not provide the complimentary champagne toast, and sent a 50$ gift card to Green Mill as a cheap apology. Also, they lost our cake topper... which was both expensive and sentimental.
Overall, we loved the hotel staff and servers/bartenders, as well as the large ballroom, but the coordinator failed big time.
Our block at the Kelly was very easy to secure and they were wonderful about interacting with the bridal party. The only concern we had was that there was a significant difference ...
in quality between the "old hotel" and "the tower." People in "the tower" definitely had a better experience, but one word to the front desk resulted in a few upgrades and everyone was happy. Great option in downtown St. Cloud.
We chose this venue because we wanted to fit 300+ people in an area where we had hotels close by. The serving staff was great. All of our guests received a complementary champagn...
e toast and my husband and I received a free jacuzzi suite for the evening. The cake service was also free. I was very happy with the flexibility that they showed us. The person that we were working with (Michelle) was great! She was very helpful making sure that our night was beautiful and as stress free as possible. Our guests loved that they were close to the hotel rooms and could come and go as the needed. It is also close to downtown St. Cloud so the people that wanted to go out after the wedding could walk to the bars and we didn't have to worry about people driving. The next morning they gave us a complimentary room to open gifts. The rooms were given to our quests at a discounted rate. They blocked a section of rooms for our guests, we were not required to pay anything if the rooms didn't book up. We ordered pizza's from the green mill (which is attached to the kelly inn) in the middle of the night. They were great about adding extra pizza's the night of. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of our venue. The venue itself was free if we/our guests spent 6000 in food and drink. If we were to do it all over again we would pick this venue again! It was truly beautiful!
We booked a block of rooms for our wedding on June 29, 2013. The rooms were affordable, less than $100 a night, and the suite we used for preparations and our wedding night was roo...
my and beautiful. They did allow us to use the large carpeted area near the pool for free for the gift opening, which was appreciated, and the staff was accommodating with late checkouts and other things. We did however have an extremely difficult time setting up the block of rooms. They are attached to the Convention Center, where our reception was located, so we were very motivated to book a block of rooms there. We called four or five times and stopped by twice over the span of 2 1/2 weeks before finally talking to someone who could set up the block. Other than the initial booking, our experience was pleasant, I don't know if that was just due to one person not doing their job, but it greatly brought down their rating. There are few things more frustrating than having to fight to give someone your business. My hope is that our experience is an anomaly and the hotel has corrected the reason for this problem, as it is a nice venue I would otherwise recommend.
We really enjoyed having our ceremony and recpetion at the Kelly Inn, they did a great jopb helping us with questions we had and seemed to be organized.
The Kelly Inn was absolutely beautiful but from the word go everything seemed to fall apart. They had me do place cards organized by color for the meal choices, the servers did no...
t pay attention to these and people were not served the proper meals. We also have 5-10 people who were not served or just got their salad and nothing else. The food was delicious but I was sad that so many of my guests needs were not met especially when I worked hard to make sure everything was done right. I also felt for being connected to a bar the alchol selection was minimal which led many guests going to the bar to get a cocktail throughout the evening. Lastly the order and rhythm throughout the night did not seem to flow properly, there seemed to be way to much time inbetween meal courses and the cake cutting and champagne pouring. As I said the facility is beautiful but I was very disappointed with the service provided.
We loved having our reception at the Kelly Inn in St. Cloud. The staff was exceptional and met our every need and/or want. We had the best day!
I was extremely happy with The Best Western Kelly Inn as my reception the location. The ballroom was the perfect size for my guests. I had about 220 guests. The staff was great and...
the food was fantastic. Most guests continue to comment to me about how great the food was.
We picked the Kelly Inn because it had the most inclusive package for the best price. We knew we wanted to hold it near or at a hotel because we wanted to make sure our OOT guests ...
travelled as little as possible. If you reach a $4,000 in food and beverages they waive their room rental fee. Their plated meals start at $15/plate and go up to $19/plate all of which is super reasonable and within our $16/plate budget. As part of the Wedding package they offer you a room for the rehearsal dinner and gift opening, if you want to serve food however you have to us their catering company, Sterling Catering. The package includes cocktail hour by the pool and they also provided us (bride and groom) with a suite the night of the wedding, it had a king size bed, a fireplace and a jucuzzi that could fit at least half a dozen people. :)
Reason for the grade: The food was delicous, the room block was super easy to set up. Monica (front desk manager) even offered the wedding party discount after our block expired. All of their staff was willing to compare rates and give the best deal (i.e. teachers, military etc) to our guests booking room. Monica worked with me and allowed us to have pre-approved people check us in, since myself and david would be busy the day of. They allowed us to get in at 5pm the night before the wedding to set up, they had worked with all of our vendors in the past so they all knew what to do. I didn't even notice that the on-site coordinator was not there (family emergency) until the other coordinator asked if things were okay before she left for the night.
We did have a couple of hiccups:
(1) Our DJ never received his meal. I did not have a place card for him because he wanted to stay at the DJ stand. I notified the head table server that we ordered a pork chop for him, which she said was no problem. David and I both noticed he got his salad but when we went up to talk to him, he mentioned they never came back with his meal. This really bummed me out because he worked really hard and did such a great job.
(2) I also noticed that we started out with 2 bars in the reception area and then one disappeared. I asked the bartender where the other bar went and she informed me that we were not drinking enough. This wasn't a problem but I was unaware that one of our bars would be pulled if we were not drinking enough. Our contract only states that we would have two bars. Furthermore, the bartender was reluctant to tap another keg early in the evening because we were drinking more wine than beer I was also unaware that it was the bartender's decision and not the Brides. I noticed attitude in her voice when she said we only pre-ordered 24 bottles of wine and we had gone through 50 bottle. David and I went around and asked our beer drinking guests to ask for beer in order for her to tap it, which in my opinion was pretty ridiculous. In the end we went through more wine and pop then estimate but less beer which worked out to be a couple hundred dollar balance.
That being said the event staff did a great job with last minute add-ons, extra meals etc. My mom mentioned a couple times how impressed she was with their speed.
Our caterer Deb was amazing. She bent over backward to make sure that our wedding day was perfect for us. She even went as far as to provide us with some decorations that she us...
ed for her daughter's wedding earlier that year. Her daugther had the same colors as we did. The ballroom was a basic reception ballroom but once the lights we dimmed and our willow branch and votive centerpieces were lit the ambiance in the room was beautiful.;There is a theater below the hotel and guests arrive through the hotel main doors which is right off of where the reception room is located. If your wedding is on a Friday or Saturday evening a typical show will start around 7pm. We were eating dinner at that time. There might be some snoopy people but I didn't notice a thing. You don't hear anything from the theater especially if you have music playing!
