t as it was the only affordable option near my hometown that had what I wanted. It was a hotel on site, had a place for our outdoor ceremony, had decent priced food and site fees. Our problems started when the event manager was switched only a few months before our wedding. She first one seemed to be doing okay, though we found out later that nothing had been written down. We basically had to start from scratch. I had done a lot via email but I guess the new girl wouldn't go back through things. I gave her everything from the initial worksheet to the final head count. The day before the wedding, we brought in our decorations to see the ballroom set up completely wrong. No head table, no gift table, no cake table. So I commented on that and she swore this is how I said I wanted it, so I brought up the email with the set up I sent her. I was right, she was wrong. The next day it was raining and our ceremony was to be outdoors. We had to request they give us something to dry the chairs off with when it stopped raining, they wouldn't do it. We wound up inside because it kept raining, and they were not helpful in rearranging things. Come time for the reception, they were late with dinner. Then they refused to cut my cake as I apparently hadn't signed a contract for it. I had it in my email again that I had taken care of it. They prior girl never made me sign a contract. It was just a big mess. Prior to the wedding a lot of the reservations were messed up. some were supposed to be 2 nights but only had one. others were 1 night but had 2. The front desk girl never knew anything from what room to send my hairdresser to, to whether to give out the welcome bags to those in the wedding block, to getting us pitchers of water to fill our floating candle vases. It was a mess I didn't want to deal with, but the venue was a great price and location, so that makes up for some of it.
