Betsy Newman Photography

mposition is only exceeded by the great energy and positive spirit she brings to the table. She knows how to get the best out of her clients in an upbeat and warm manner, which helped us both tremendously on an emotional day. Couldn't have imagined working with anyone else!

made the entire experience feel like a breeze for me, my husband, and our 14-month-old. Betsy has an incredible attitude—she’s positive, adaptable, and somehow makes every moment feel like an opportunity for a perfect shot. Her expertise in catching natural light is remarkable, and it shows in every single photo. Despite our little one’s moody day, Betsy had endless tricks up her sleeve to keep him smiling and engaged. Her patience and ability to make it fun meant we could relax and actually enjoy ourselves. She also tactfully guided us on poses and subtle adjustments to help us look our best. I’ve never had this many photos of myself that I love! The final photos were stunning and only got better with every look; I keep finding new favorites every time I go back to them. And to top it off, Betsy was impressively fast in getting the edited photos back to us, even faster than she originally promised. If you’re looking for a photographer who’s both a true professional and a joy to work with, Betsy is your person!

Betsy's beautiful work. Working to sequence the day with her photos was like reliving this joyful moment in time all over again. She did such an amazing job of capturing the emotion and pure happiness of it all. I know these photos will be something I want to revisit again and again. A million thanks to Betsy for the magic she works. I also want to add that she has a delightful spirit which is a pleasure to be around and makes all the difference on this type of important day. Although the price did stretch our budget a bit, the memories are truly priceless!

photos just a few days after our wedding day and we were absolutely floored at how beautiful they turned out!!! She knew exactly how to capture the magic & beauty of our special day and we believe she would definitely be able to do the same for yours! Cannot recommend her enough!!!!

and it absolutely showed through in our pictures. You can clearly see how much fun we had working with her and how at ease we felt. Not only is her finished product gorgeous, but Betsy's shining personality and her professionalism on our wedding day truly helped guide us through the packed day, keeping us AHEAD of schedule and making sure all the shots we requested were captured. She was able to snap the best moments without us even realizing there was a camera around. I would recommend Betsy a million times over for her amazing presence and gorgeous work. Thank you Betsy!!!!

e it work. She also followed every detail we provided and got amazing shots with all of our close people. We couldn’t be happier and we’ve participated in other weddings where the photographers are no where near Betsy’s level of thought care and she does a great job of making it fun for such a special day. Thank you, Betsy! We couldn’t recommend Betsy more.

aise she deserves. Betsy photographed our engagement photos and would have done our wedding as well if she wasn’t already booked. As a wedding planner myself, I had worked with Betsy previously and she was always so fun, easy to work with and matched my energy on every level! She gets so excited when she knows she is ‘getting the shot’ that you can’t help but get excited too. I had a very specific vision for our engagement photos and she was 100% on board to make it happen. I love the photos so much and will treasure them forever as they document a very exciting time in our lives. I absolutely love working with Betsy and will definitely be booking her again in the future!

a magazine, truly beautiful photos that we can enjoy for a lifetime. Betsy also makes you feel so incredibly comfortable during the session. I never even felt like I was posing- just having so much fun! She also gave us all of the finished photos within a week or two, incredible turnaround time for such high volume of photos and great quality.

r eyes! <3 Betsy is incredibly warm + genuine and makes you feel fabulous and comfortable. She has such a nice energy to her. Everyone in our wedding party told us how lovely Betsy and her team were. I haven't been able to stop staring at our wedding photos since we got them back. I highly recommend Betsy! <3

look like they are straight out of a Vanity Fair editorial. She made all of my photo dreams come true!!! Her enthusiasm had our bridal party smiling extra wide, and I can't recommend her enough. My husband and I decided she will be shooting every momentous occasion of ours for the rest of time. Thank you, Betsy!!!

Both collections of photos turned out to be a dream! We felt so at ease with Betsy, and she captured our love for each other. My family and bridal party loved how Betsy captured the perfect moments throughout the day. Betsy is a master at outdoor and indoor lighting and can always find the ideal lighting for the best shots. We told Betsy what we wanted exactly and she executed it seamlessly. If you are in the Southern California area, you will not regret hiring Betsy!

ughout our busy wedding day, she was there with words of encouragement, reminding us that the day was absolutely perfect. From our initial call to now, I’ve gained a friend in Betsy. Wedding photos are so important. The day goes by so quickly. Photos capture all of the days special moments. I smile ear to ear whenever I look back at all of our photos. She captured the day so perfectly and did it so effortlessly. We were lucky to have her as part of our big day! If you have the choice, choose Betsy. You won’t regret it! Thank you Betsy for our amazing photos. We are so grateful!

day is unlike anyone else. She takes all of the stress off of you, and you never have to worry about whether she is getting all of the special moments. All you have to do is enjoy your day! It is really hard to put into words how amazing she is. Betsy makes you feel like you are the most beautiful bride she has ever seen, and like your wedding is somehow the best wedding she has ever been to! Her enthusiasm and joy makes it so apparent that she loves her job, and it shows in her photos! We had a very small wedding with our immediate families, and she truly made it feel like an extravagant affair. I’ve honestly thought about having another wedding just so Betsy could be my photographer again! Lastly, Betsy is a kind and wonderful human being! She radiates positivity and love. If you somehow manage to snag her for your big day, count your lucky stars!

ecial person and gifted photographer. I knew the photos would be the best I’ve ever seen (they are!). What I didn’t expect was the light and joy in Betsy. Betsy is sunshine, her positive energy flows and everyone around her feels relaxed and their most radiant version of themselves. Her photos capture this love, light, joy, and radiance – of Jess and Colin, family and friends, each moment, and their entire wedding. Betsy is fun throughout the event and she and her assistant are everywhere, missing nothing. They anticipate everything and innately know how to photograph each moment to bring it to life. She is also a pleasure to work with before and after the event. Long after the wedding is gone, the photos are a memory, keepsake, and legacy. If you are looking for a photographer for your wedding or any event, Betsy will make the experience truly delightful and deliver the best photos that will live on.

an amazing job of capturing the magic of the season you can practically hear Christmas carols in the background. Not only did Betsy get beautiful intimate shots of the bride and groom but her group photos, candids and closeups of the design elements were all excellent. Aside from being a consumate professional Betsy brings her own brand of infectious positive energy to an event which leaves everyone relaxed and smiling. I would hire Betsy again and again.

nobody stands out to me like Betsy. I was immediately drawn to Betsy when we first met several years ago. I admired her work and secretly hoped whenever I got married, she would be my photographer. It felt like fate when I got engaged and planned my wedding on a very tight timeline (it was several months out) that the one date Betsy had available was miraculously my wedding date! I was so overjoyed because I could not imagine anyone else there to capture the day. We had reached out to a few other photographers that friends recommended just in case and they did not compare -- from the style of their work, their portfolios, their tone and ways of working etc. it did not come close. Betsy is so passionate in the way that she speaks and exudes so much joy and love. It might sound silly to say but if you have calls with her versus any other vendor you will immediately understand what I am referencing. It is in the kindness in her voice and genuine excitement she feels for you as a couple that is so unique and special. At our wedding, Betsy (and her fantastic assistant) captured every moment with beauty. Our photos are stunning. And not only are the photos stunning, but behind the scenes of capturing these moments, Betsy made us all feel so confident and comfortable. She has such an eye and way of directing and styling each shot, while also capturing candid moments that are priceless. As I mentioned, we planned our wedding on a tight timeline and so Betsy was unavailable for our pre-wedding festivities — we used another recommended duo and they simply did not compare. The day of the wedding (and still to this day) family & guests kept exclaiming OMG WE LOVE BETSY! What comes easily to Betsy is such a gift! And I could truly not recommend working with Betsy more whole-heartedly <3

n educated me on so many things I had not thought about before speaking with her! Betsy had an organized excel sheet ready to go for me to input the long shot list we had hoped to capture on our lengthy wedding day. We had her booked for 11 hours and from start to finish she was so positive and energetic, and made sure the bride and groom were always taken care of. She kept up with our crazy schedule and constantly provided words of encouragement. Betsy was truly a delight to work with that I would be lucky to work with again in the future. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to feel supported and also to get the most vibrant photos! When we got our preview photos back we were in awe of her stunning work and cannot wait to see the rest of the album when she is done editing!

. As soon as we had our first phone session, we knew that we wanted Betsy to capture every moment of our engagement and wedding. When we met her in person for our engagement shoot, we were blown away by her sweet and energetic character. She is truly one of a kind and makes you feel so special and comfortable in front of the camera. When we received the pictures (so timely) they were everything we dreamed of and more. After the engagement shoot, we knew we couldn't wait for her to capture our wedding weekend. Betsy set the tone for the entire wedding weekend starting with our rehearsal dinner/party. She made sure to show up early to the restaurant and capture every detail of the venue (scenery, favors, decor, etc.). She also spent time with just my husband and I getting very special portraits of the two of us ahead of the wedding the next day and even took some videos for me on my iPhone so I had content for Instagram (so thoughtful!) My entire family loved her and couldn't stop talking about her talent and sweet personality. For the wedding day, not only is Betsy incredibly talented and highly professional, but she is so responsive and easy to communicate with. We were given many opportunities to share and discuss what we wanted with Betsy ahead of time and she was really clear with times & schedules which made our preparation simple. Betsy made the whole experience so easy to enjoy. We had no worries on our day and were able to trust her with what we wanted captured. Not only did she do that but she went above and beyond our expectations.  She was so positive, upbeat, vocal and directive.   After receiving our sneak peak shots a couple days after the wedding we were absolutely stunned at how amazing every single photo was. Speechless. We're still looking back at our photos and are incredibly impressed with how every shot captures just how happy we were and our family was. Both Jimmy and I along with our families are so thankful to have had Betsy there on our wedding day. If you’re looking for a photographer who will capture those real moments on your day and be such a pleasure to work with, then I highly recommend Betsy to anyone.

ur best and in those 2 hours, I felt amazing! We just got the photos back as well and I just cannot believe it. She captured everything exactly as I wanted and supported my vision. My husband is also thrilled with them and he even enjoyed the process (he normally complains when we take more than 2 photos). Betsy is all around incredible, her energy and her talent make her the most perfect photographer and you shouldn’t even hesitate or think twice about hiring her for a special occasion.

and wedding day. Not only is everyone obsessed with the photos Betsy took, but her energy and positivity added so much joy to our wedding. She makes everyone feel so comfortable and relaxed while capturing the beauty and vibe of the day so perfectly. My mother-in-law put it best when she asked "can we just have Betsy around all the time?" Betsy- thank you so much for everything!! We love you!

ho was captured by Betsy immediately fell in love with her. The one thing my husband and I were most nervous about on our wedding day was the photos we would have to take - posing, as well as taking "candids," are not our greatest strength! From our first call with Betsy, those nerves instantly melted away. Betsy's kindness, compassion and care was the greatest comfort throughout our entire wedding planning journey, rehearsal dinner and wedding itself. When Betsy is around, you can't help but shine - and our stunning wedding photos prove it!! There is no one in the world I would rather have capture the special moments in mine and my husbands life. We can not wait for Betsy to shoot our next special memory!! We love you Betsy!!

end her to anyone still on the hunt. Everyone fell in love with her joy. Our pictures are truly magazine worthy due to what Betsy caught with her skill. These pictures last a lifetime and having Betsy there made me so at ease. I can't say enough good things. We have her pictures though-out our house and everyone that enters is in awe of her work. She made me so comfortable taking pictures as I got ready, I didn't even notice her during our ceremony until I saw what she captured - a master of capturing the moments while remaining unseen. She handles herself with grace, makes you feel special, and is a true gem to this earth! There's no one else like Betsy!

oy from the day and relive it, but these photos are the closest thing. The love you captured from our friends and family in particular is such a gift.

ld not be happier with how the pics turned out and we do not have enough great things to say about Betsy and her work. Cannot thank her enough for everything and capturing such a perfect day!

y lit, and expertly done. To be honest, I had no doubt that the photos would turn out perfectly because of how she acts while shooting: She’s energetic, supportive, and personally invested. She obviously loves her work and is incredibly talented. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

knows how to make you feel comfortable and beautiful on camera. She gave us great direction and made us feel like a million bucks while she took pictures of us. She had a very quick turnaround for getting us our photos back, and I cried when I saw the FIRST one. Each shot has so much emotion, connection and love in it and you can tell how much she cares about capturing that. Having this woman photograph you is the BEST decision you will ever make.

w most of our family members (there are 50 of us) by name and relation to the bride. She has a way about her that puts her subjects at ease and brings their best look to light. She is tireless and makes you feel that she is truly enjoying the event. We have received the preview shots and they are spectacular. I cannot recommend her enough!

wedding pictures. Her talent is incomparable. Not only is she professional and responsive, she has such a vibrant, gracious and sweet personality that makes you feel SO comfortable in front of the camera. We are just speechless at how beautifully she captured so many emotions on our wedding day. There is not a single bad picture. There really are not enough words to really describe Betsy until you meet her and witness this incredible talent. Her work is insane (in the best way possible). Book her, you will NOT regret. I promise!

. We couldn’t be happier with our engagement and wedding photos from this year—they are truly stunning in every sense, and are beyond anything we could have hoped for or imagined. Betsy is an unbelievable talent and she will be the best investment you make in your wedding! Plus, she’s a joy to be around! We are so thrilled to have worked with her!

s. Firstly, she’s extremely professional, reliable, and responsive. You know you don’t ever have to worry about logistics because Betsy is very organized and experienced. Secondly, she is incredibly talented. Her passion for photography is obvious when you see her in action. If you want the perfect shot, Betsy will make it happen. Lastly, she’s so incredibly encouraging and kind. She makes everyone posing in front of her lens feel at ease and comfortable. She is exactly the kind of vibe you need on your wedding day!

sitivity, and immediately puts the subjects of her photography at ease. She managed to somehow be simultaneously a huge part of our wedding day, but also completely unobtrusive. Many of our guests remarked how wonderful she was at capturing the moment without diverting attention. My fiance and I are not especially comfortable in front of the camera, but Betsy made us feel like a million bucks and truly captured the love we share. I look forward to many years of compliments on my wedding photos -- our guests can't stop talking about how beautifully she captured our hectic, rainy, love-filled wedding day!

y! My fiancé and I were quite nervous at first and Betsy made us feel completely at ease. Prior to our shoot, I had sent Betsy a Pinterest board and she arrived with my ideas and poses top of mind. After a few hours of shooting, Betsy was game to chase the light and we drove up to the top of the Malibu mountains to catch the sunset. The final results are incredible and I'm so happy we chose to work with Betsy!

t place to shoot, the best outfits for the backdrop, and the best angles with the best lighting. We cannot say enough as to how talented Betsy is and how much she captured our personalities in each picture. She has such a positive attitude and is so passionate about her photography which all comes through in the quality of her work. These are pictures we feel so incredibly happy to frame and have in our home for our children, our grand-children and generations to come. We're so very grateful to Betsy and that we got to work with her and have her capture our love so beautifully.

ome people say "If you don't notice the photographers, they are doing a good job." FALSE. You need a good HYPE person to capture the best moments and Betsy is exactly that. I am not photogenic at all, I like to think I have a face for radio. Betsy was able to make me look tolerable and captured my wife looking STUNNING. She was an absolute professional through everything and I loved working with her! I highly recommend her! Betsy also did our engagement photos on the beach/in the town in Seal Beach and was able to capture some amazing moments.

ackyard wedding during COVID, and exceeded every possible dream we had for our photos. My husband and I are absolutely obsessed with every photo that she captured. Betsy was able to memorialize the magical feelings that we shared on our wedding day, and you can see it all in our photos. I was a little bit nervous of everything going smoothly on our wedding day, but the second I saw Betsy she helped me feel calm and beautiful. Betsy guided us through our photos for the day with such poise and grace, and did so all while smiling and laughing and glowing with joy with us and our families (despite the crazy heat that weekend). And the best part is that our families are both so obsessed with Betsy and her phenomenal photos that my sister-in-law hopes to work with Betsy for her own upcoming wedding. We cannot thank you enough for being such a huge (and important) part of our special day. We love you Betsy, and are forever grateful for the memories you captured for us!!

e it wasn't a huge event. The photos are absolutely incredible. Each and every one of them! Betsy captured every emotion, every moment, every everything!!!! She got our best sides, angles, combinations and more. There obviously aren’t enough words. We’re thrilled! Betsy's vibrant personality is behind every photo. We loved working with her.

dor, humor, and discreet nature when needed. She even memorized all of the key family members for our photos to make sure she could help us call out and gather people for post-wedding family shots. She is so friendly and bubbly and truly felt like a friend during wedding planning and the day of. We would definitely recommend her for any event and absolutely plan to use her again and again and again. Thank you Betsy!!!

! Xoxo

ad and grateful for the time she spent capturing our relationship on film (she was also extremely gracious and easy to work with through the rescheduling/cancelation process). Anyway back to the engagement shoot. My fiancé and I are not the sort of people who take a lot of pics, let alone romantic pics. We were stunned by how amazingly comfortable Betsy made us feel, and how we actually had fun at our shoot. And then there were the photos... she managed to capture the fun and joy of our relationship, and, of course, the love. It's so hard to make this stuff not cheesy but she did. I have no doubt she would have brought the same eye and energy to shooting our wedding. If you want photos that are bursting with life, and a photographer who will make you feel excited and comfortable just being you, go with Betsy.

d not have turned out better - thanks Betsy!

t only are her photos absolutely incredible but she is so fun and easy to work with. As most guys are, my fiancé is not the biggest fan of photos but ended up having so much fun with Betsy. She made us feel so comfortable and actually have fun with it. Five minutes in we felt totally comfortable. I'm super picky about photos but figured we would get a decent amount we liked. Betsy sent the photos edited so quickly and we almost cried because we loved ALL of them. She truly captured our relationship and who we are and we couldn't be happier. Cannot recommend her enough!!!

shoot so easy, but Betsy also makes you feel so incredibly comfortable during the session. I never even felt like I was posing- just having so much fun! When I got the images back (just a few days later!) I couldn’t believe it! The photos were stunning- Betsy’s use of light and really capturing sweet moments was everything! I’m so excited to have these photos for years to come and to mark this time in our lives. SO recommend using Betsy to capture all the wedding excitement!!

ible sunset pictures of us. She made us feel confident and comfortable by directing and encouraging us along the way. She shot our wedding and couldn't be happier with the pictures! My bridesmaids called her our "hype woman" because of the amount of energy and passion that she brought on the day of. She is a joy to work with, and I hope to work with her again in the future!

every hair was in place before shooting. Her fun-loving and outgoing attitude made the shoot fun. She had our photos ready in less than 24 hours and they were nothing short of amazing. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for a photographer! Thank you, Betsy!

She has an unbelievable eye and a knack for capturing the most incredible moments. Hiring Betsy was the easiest and BEST decision I made while planning my wedding.
