When looking for a videographer for our wedding, I searched online for a few weeks before stumbling upon Between Sleep & Awake. The moment I visited the website and saw Dana’s work, I was hooked. Her eye for videography and editing took my breath away, and the value of her packages was very reasonable -- right in line with what my husband and I had agreed upon. From Dana’s bespoke stamps on her mailed contract to her personalized touches throughout our planning process, I knew I hired the right person. On the day of our wedding, Dana and her second shooter were a joy to be around, kept me feeling calm and totally at ease – which is important when there’s a video camera thisclose during some of the most intimate moments of the day. Dana approaches her work with intention and her style is impeccable. She knows how to capture the light just right – in every shot. She brings in the natural beauty of the surroundings and highlights little details perfectly. And the final product? I thought I was in love with her filming style when we signed up with Dana – but that was nothing compared to the feeling my husband and I had when we received our highlight film just days after our wedding. While on our honeymoon, we got an email with a link from Dana and I sobbed while watching! In just a few minutes, she captured the essence, beauty, and raw emotion of our wedding day and allowed us to relive our favorite moments while showing us things we were too overwhelmed to see on the day. Dana worked with us in the months following to perfect our full length film, and what a priceless treasure it is! Arriving by mail in a beautiful wooden box branded in Dana’s signature style, the footage from our wedding day is a one of our most treasured mementos from our wedding, and one that we’ll keep for a lifetime. Dana is an expert at her craft and a pleasure to work with! My husband and I recently received our wedding video back from Dana and adore it! Dana is simply THE BEST! She shot our Bonnet Island Estate wedding in June and did an absolutely AMAZING job capturing the emotion of the day. I don't have words to describe what a dream Dana was to work with. Not to mention she gave birth 10 days before our wedding and still came & shot our wedding!! Dana is an absolute pleasure to have by your side on your wedding day. She has a calm presence and you barely know that she is there capturing every significant moment. Due to specific circumstance she was able to rush the completion of our highlight video, which everyone keeps raving about. After posting the video on social media, I had several individuals ask for her contact information. The video brought tears to my eyes and I will never get tired of reliving my perfect day through Dana's lens.

My experience with Dana from Between Sleep and Awake has been an absolute pleasure since day 1. It all started out by finding her work thru Instagram, not directly but thru scrolling on my feed. I found her work on her website, contacted her and had a very quick response. In the beginning I wasn't sure where my wedding venue would be but Dana didn't mind waiting and still reserving my date. I was able to pay thru PayPal & always got an invoice in my email. On my wedding day, she arrived early with a bright smile! You could barely tell she was around since she was often quiet and constanly capturing the small moment you forget about. Even when I felt a bit overwhelmed, she would say something sweet that just made me take a breath and relax. Our highlight film was ready in a matter of days which we saw during our honeymoon and our movie turned out to be the movie of the year! (For us at least hehe) Bottom line: hire Dana! You won't regret it!

Dana and Kolton were recommended to me by a photographer who had work with them in the past. Although they live nearly 2 hours away from my wedding venue, I figured it can't hurt to give them a call. This was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Dana and her husband Kolton are the type of people that you just met, but feel like you have known forever! They drove 2 hours away to a location they have never been before, and showed up at the house like they were friends I haven't seen in years. Their work was impeccable. They captured every moment of my wedding day, and more. When watching the movie, the ceremony, and the speeches back, I just can not believe how much is actually crammed into 1 day, and how much I really didn't even remember happening because it went by so fast. I would highly recommend using Between Sleep & Awake to capture your special day. I promise you won't regret it!

I found Dana by complete chance during my never-ending google-searching for a local wedding cinematographer. When I saw her work, I could not book her fast enough. Her aesthetic and approach to wedding cinematography is enchanting and romantic. Dana was a joy to work with, so responsive via email and completely sweet and real when we met with her prior to the big day. On our wedding day, Dana was such a warm and calming presence with a great easy going attitude. She and our photographers made an incredible team. In less than a week, we had our wedding trailer that captured everything from the morning of a boisterous gaggle of family and bridesmaids to the afternoon of a laughter-filled first look, and our drizzly but perfect ceremony. Everything she captures is as authentic as she is, and it blows my mind! Dana's work has my entire family in happy tears every time we watch it. If I could recommend 2 things to future brides it would be: 1. book a cinematographer 2. make sure the cinematographer you book is Between Sleep & Awake. I am so happy with Dana's work. She captured every moment and wrapped it into a 10 minute video we love to watch over and over again. I never met Dana before the wedding. We had 1 phone call and many emails. I knew I loved her videos online but I felt crazy for never meeting her in person. She showed up to the wedding ready to start immediately. I never felt her being overbearing or trying to push people away so she could get her shot. Dana captured every moment of the wedding without ever being noticed! She does beautiful work. You will not regret booking Dana. Trust me. You won't. After booking my venue finding a cinematographer (not a videographer) was the most important aspect of my wedding. I got married on the beach and inside the venue was a completely operational vintage carousel. I am very particular. I was determined to have a trusting cinematographer to capture the twinkling lights and the whimsical atmosphere I dreamed this special day to be. Enter betweensleepandawake. Not only is Dana awesome, calming and adorable as one could hope for, she captures emotions and moments you would otherwise miss while you take photo after photo. Some people just have an eye for it. Thankfully Dana has two. Watch any of her teasers or full feature films and you feel like you have shared in the special day without having to purchase a gift.

Dana is the most creative at her craft. She delivered the most beautiful video already to us and I can not wait to see more. She has captured details and special moments that you might have missed but now have a recording of it to keep forever. It is so special. She is the best at what she does.

When Tab and I got engaged I knew right away I wanted to use between sleep and awake for our wedding cinematographer. Dana went above and beyond with our videos! She captured our day so magically. She even put our wedding song to the trailer. Of course I cried like a little girl when i first saw the video. We were so beyond happy with our video because she captured the most special moments. And i loved that it wasn't an hour long video it was short and simple but absolutely beautiful. Not only is Dana an extremely creative person but she makes you feel so at ease while she is working. She is a total sweetheart and is not in your face at all. Tab and I would 100% recommend using Between Sleep and Awake! You will not regret it!

I was really on the fence about getting a videographer initially for my wedding, ya know- the added expense, the uncertainty of not knowing how it will turn out. But I took a leap of faith and hired Dana based on the glowing recommendation of my photographer & I have to say it was the BEST decision I made regarding my wedding. Of course, my pictures came out beautiful and I love them dearly, but actually seeing those little moments that make your day "special day" really special captured on video is priceless. She even set it to one of our favorite songs, which made the video even more magical. I balled my eyes out the first time I saw it. The video Dana produced for my husband and I was so much more then I could have imagined. Dana was recommended to me by a co-worker. After initially meeting her the day of the wedding, she was so warm and friendly that she blended right in with family and friends. A wedding day is so involved, with such important moments that Dana captured so eloquently! The trailer she produced just 2 weeks after the wedding is a preview before the final product. It left us feeling so excited to relive those moments and the story of "us". The day we received the final video we watched it over and over, loving it more each time! Dana is a true artist and her video is one of the best parts of my wedding I carry forth with me!

Dana was so great to work with- she thought outside the box and was creative with our videography. Her choice of music, lighting, and scenes were stellar. If I could give Dana ten stars, I would. I cannot even begin to explain how many videographers I contacted before booking Between Sleep and Awake. Many videos I found to be extremely cheesy (with either the background music or couples speaking directly into the camera telling the story of their relationship, like an interview). Between my mumbling and my husband's storytelling skills, I knew that wasn't going to work. I wanted someone who was easy to work with and would just capture those little moments on your wedding day which are so easily forgotten. Dana was so behind the scenes; there were no huge lights or cameras in your face. She was absolutely amazing! I got married 8 months ago and still receive compliments on my video. In addition to her amazingness, her prices are so reasonable!! Book with her and you will not regret it!

Dana did such a fantastic job capturing the best parts of our special day. I wasn't looking for a long and boring wedding video where we would fast forward through most of it.. Our video from Dana was the complete opposite! So memorable and set to beautiful music. I would recommend to any bride :)

I've known Dana since the diaper days, and she's always been the crafty, creative type. She's a natural at what she does and you can tell she enjoys it. It was a last minute decision to even have a videographer at my wedding but I didn't think twice when choosing Dana and I couldn't be happier with the results. She captures just the right moments that truly personalize the video. Overall, It was a whimsical masterpiece.

In the beginning stages of our wedding planning, I wasn't even considering having video. Eventually my mother-in-law talked sense into me and I started doing my research. With all the companies out there, there was nothing that initially caught my eye. I wasn't looking for a videography company that did long, drawn-out wedding video's where your family is forced to either watch the whole thing, or you have to fast-forward through. Then I received a recommendation to check out Between Sleep & Awake. My photographer had worked with her a number of times, and mentioned her style was cinematography. like a mini movie/short film! I was so excited, I e-mailed right away, and within a short time I had our contract mailed to me! She was willing to work with us which was one of my worries, because they are located on the Jersey Shore, and we are much North of that in the Hudson Valley area of New York. Having never met in person until the day of our wedding, I felt like I already knew her...nothing but great remarks from our wedding party about her and her team. Sooo incredibly comfortable to work with, and those brides that worry about having a camera in your face, it's nothing like that! We were given our "teaser" highlight video within two weeks after our wedding, which consisted of an amazing 3 minutes, it gave just the right amount of tease, and captured the most memorable moments partnered with an awesome song choice of hers. We paid very little extra to enjoy a slightly longer cinema style video (because they typically run around 8-10 minutes)and for her travel, but it was nothing short of worth it! They will give you, upon request, (or maybe it's standard) some raw, un-edited footage on a separate chapter of your DVD..for those brides worried about not catching enough of your vows and such. We are so excited to see our day captured on film, and in the style of Dana Stanley and BS&A.
