Do NOT book Beyond the Veil Wedding & Event Services (BTVWE). We got scammed and bamboozled by this company. In 2023, I started planning our destination wedding reception in Ashevi...
lle, NC. The planning process took around 18 months. I started my search for wedding coordinators in summer 2023 and expanded my search to Charlotte, NC. I found three possible vendors, with BTVWE being one. We had a virtual consulation with the owner of BTVWE, Latoia Ormond, and we ended up booking her and signing the contract.
The contract had a Force Majeure for acts of God, natural disasters, epidemic, or pandemic. In the event of an act of God, she would require payment only for the time actually spent planning the wedding. I had planning meetings with her and we met her in Asheville for a venue meeting as well. Unfortunately, due to hurricane Helene, there was damage to Asheville and surrounding communities, and we decided to cancel our event. We kept Latoia informed the entire time and updated her about our event cancellation. In the same email about the cancellation, I requested a refund of some amount. We had paid her out in full weeks before our event, and now I regret that. In her response to our email, she charged us for mileage when I had email documentation stating she would not charge for mileage but would request accommodations for her team the day of the event. Additionally she sent us the cancellation addendum that stated the amount we would be refunded. I signed it and sent it over to her in October 2024, and we have never seen that reimbursement from her. We have sent over 30 emails, texts, left voicemails to her following up on our refund. It’s been silence and now her company is listed as Temporarily Closed on Google. I could write a much longer review, but it infuriates me and frustrates me the way we have been treated. I write this review to state the facts and I hope to save others from having the same experience as us.

hoping some more responsiveness from her at times, but I will say this with the caveat that 2022 had complications, this was primarily when we were pretty far out from our date, and I was fully given the opportunity to book unlimited remote/video consultations and I did not do it at times where I probably needed to, because I struggle with being a great self-advocate so that’s on me. Even with that, she picked it up as we got closer. Her best feature is being a terrific problem solver. Day of wedding, she sacrificed her own water bottle after I learned that distilled water is the preferred water for steaming dresses (something I meant to prepare for but forgot). She helped us figure out how to get our arch to actually stay upright. She ran out to FiveBelow to grab yoga mats for our wedding weekend when our vendor was slow on getting back to us on how many they had for our guests. She drove the 3 hour drive to meet us at the venue about 9 months before the wedding, and again a second time without us closer to wedding.
She truly captures the “beyond” of her company name. She absolutely was worth it, and my guests loved her too! I would not hesitate to work with her again.

, we ultimately decided on Beyond the Veil! Toia and her team continuously go above and beyond before, during and after the ceremony and reception. So many guests and wedding party members commented on how wonderful she was. During the reception she made sure we always had a drink, food, and kept us on time so that we could get to partying! The team even repurposed all of the flowers from the church, and we didn't even think of it! The pew flowers, alter flowers and all! We had light up sticks for during the dancing timing, and instead of just handing them out with an arm full, her and her team repurposed the wicker baskets we used for koozies and handed them out that way! The presentation was such a nice touch and didn't go unnoticed. I feel like I could keep going on and on about how great Toia and her team are, but hopefully you get the idea! She will make your dreams come true.

e weren't sure. She also handled our parents when there were disagreements about how something ought to be done. Monta is also a fantastic pianist! We hadn't picked out a musician for our ceremony, so when La Toia mentioned he was available, it gave us one less decision! Of course there was no pressure one way or the other, it just worked out well.
As far as the day of, everything went smoothly. When we had questions or concerns, La Toia was right there with us helping us through them. Our special day went perfectly with the help we got from Beyond the Veil!
Just an aside regarding planners, since I was sort of on the fence about whether or not I wanted to spend the money to have one. I have helped out at a wedding where a wedding planner wasn't used and it was CHAOS. People were calling the bride about every little detail while she was getting her hair and makeup done, and at one point somebody handed the groomsmen 7 boxes of flower and then just left with a "put these somewhere nice!" That was the point where I was extra sure we had made the right call in hiring a planner!

From the day I booked with BTVWE almost one year before my wedding, La'Toia was always available to answer any questions I had, to keep me on track with my planning timeline, and to offer suggestions for reputable vendors which helped me to narrow down a lot of my selections and save time in the planning process. Furthermore, La'Toia made herself available to attend vendor meetings on my behalf and video conference me into those meetings as I was living out of the country and planning the vast majority of the wedding from abroad.
