Can't recommend Big Magic enough. Their incredible repertoire and energetic spirit kept everyone out on the dance floor all night. But what stood out for me and my husband was Sean's gentle and considerate style of coordination. Over several calls, he helped us fill out all the details of what we wanted the ceremony and reception to feel like. After attending other weddings where the microphones had tech issues, it was such a relief to know their set up was up to date and tested. Everything worked perfectly and went so smoothly. Sean, thank you again! The best.
We couldn't sing Big Magic’s praises more loudly! Sean and his team were super attentive to what we were looking for, and committed to getting to ‘yes’, even when our asks were niche or complex, including having a family member perform with the band during our reception (they were excited about this and incredibly accommodating). And perhaps most tellingly, when we had an ask that Big Magic could have signed up for, but costs would have been higher for them to provide than what we could have sourced elsewhere, Sean told us so, and encouraged us to pursue an alternate course. He really felt like a true partner throughout the process.
Across the board, all of our guests after the wedding were RAVING about the band. The dance floor was electric all night, and there was really something for everyone — all generations were out on the floor. They sounded fantastic, and weren’t overbearing or at odds with the vibe in any way. Breaks were well timed and reasonable in length, and we just aligned them with speeches, meal breaks, etc. so everything felt seamless. Sean was a perfect MC, intro-ing speech-givers, announcing shuttle arrivals, etc., and keeping this burden off our family members was a true gift.
Big Magic provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, with two musicians each for ceremony and cocktail. They provided beautiful, thoughtful ambiance that really elevated both of those first events, and also provided all of the A/V so we didn’t have to think about, for example, renting mics for our officiant and us, etc.
We'd work with Big Magic again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Sean and team!

Big Magic’s standard wedding package is centered around the reception and includes live music for your event's dinner and dance portions. This consists of a 9-piece band performing from our current repertoire, a sound engineer, and the proper equipment and lighting for the performance area. Sean Morin
Owner, Founder, Director, Guitarist
Owner and director Sean Morin has over 20 years of experience putting on high-end musical performances in and around Maine and New England. Sean is the musical director and co-owner of the Rolling Stone-acclaimed band Spencer and the Walrus, and previously worked as the event coordinator at the legendary Frontier in Brunswick, ME for over 13 years. Those two gigs gave Sean insider knowledge and sparked the idea for Big Magic, focusing on high-end musicianship and customer service.
Sean has performed as a member of The Cambiata, Rustic Overtones, Spencer Albee, Dominic (and the Lucid) Lavoie, Sara Hallie Richardson, Billy Libby, and Amy Allen, and he has written musical arrangements for The Ghost of Paul Revere, Palaver Strings, Amarantos Quartet, and The Fogcutters.
