Can't recommend Pete and David enough! They made the process seamless and were very professional. I truly believe a good DJ can make the wedding experience 10x better, and they did exactly that! They helped me with custom tracks and playlists, and made the day run so smoothly. My biggest request was making sure my guests were out on the dance floor all night having a blast, and David DELIVERED!! I am recommending this team to everyone.

I've worked as a professional DJ and Musician for the past 10 years. As a kid, I used to DJ our annual block party at Big Sand Lake. Once I finally launched my own DJ company, I found it very fitting to name it Big Sand Productions!
Ever since, I have been fully committed to making each wedding as uniquely fun and memorable as I can. This company was built on the pillars of integrity and authenticity and has now developed into an incredible team of DJs who all share these values. Months prior to our wedding, we had a call with Pete and he helped set us up with a package that worked for our budget and a DJ that suited our style (it was a multicultural wedding with family from very diverse backgrounds). He sent us a link to the company portal, which contained a couple of comprehensive planning forms that really helped set our minds and ease and get everything planned out. On the day of the wedding, DJ John was an excellent DJ, mixing well and integrating our requests with some of his own music to keep the party going. He played all of our music for the ceremony and MC'd the reception, bringing energy and excitement to the crowd. All of those things were great, but you expect these things from any wedding DJ.
Pete will tell you that all of his DJs are also wedding planners, and this is where Big Sand really stood out for us! Like a lot of people in recent years, we didn't really have a full wedding planner in our budget, so we did most of the planning ourselves. On the day of, we had an on-site venue coordinator hanging around, but otherwise no one to really coordinate between our various vendors while we focused on getting married. DJ John showed up early and set up his equipment, then worked with the on-site coordinator, florist, officiant, and our ushers to make sure everything ran smoothly. He set up all of the cues for both the ceremony with the officiant and the reception with the venue, and he was constantly checking with us, making sure our reception went just the way we wanted. He coordinated the cake cutting with the venue, managed our speeches (of course), and directed our guests toward different events and end-of-night transportation. Basically, he handled all of the little details that we would have hired a wedding planner to take care of, allowing us to just relax and enjoy our day. Our wedding was perfect - more than we could have hoped for - and that was in large part due to DJ John.
We can't express our gratitude enough towards Pete, John, and Big Sand Productions. We highly recommend them to anyone who wants great music, great MCing, and a DJ who goes far beyond the normal scope of the job to make your wedding day perfect!

been there before which was off. The DJ we had has been a DJ for 1,200 weddings which we thought would be great. We had a good call with him a couple days before our wedding to go over songs and how the day would go. Our DJ played the wrong song when the groom and his mom walked in and when the bride was walking in. He tried to say the officiant changed things before the ceremony but the officiant didn’t know our song choices so I’m not sure where what miscommunication was. The DJ AGAIN played the wrong song during the groom/mother of the groom dance. What was the point of filling out the planning forms and having a call if those aren’t being used? During the reception, the DJ had no transitions between songs so everyone would just stand around the dance floor in silence before the next song would play. The songs being played were slightly slower than the original and then would speed up and did not sound intentional. The music kept cutting out at random times as well. The only good thing about the service was that the DJ did double check with us when guests requested songs that we had on our do not play list. Really disappointed that we paid for an experienced DJ and that was the service we received. Would not recommend this DJ unfortunately.

The music was spot on all night, and I honestly don’t think the dance floor was ever empty. Everything flowed so naturally, and we never once had to think about the music because David had it completely handled. It meant so much to hear that he had a blast too!

The music request forms they provide are detailed, which we appreciated because it helped us figure out any gaps we needed to fill for different parts of the wedding and reception, and it allowed us to give the clearest possible picture to our DJ of our musical vision.
Dave was our DJ, who reached out to have a call with us a few days before the wedding and made sure we were all on the same page. He did an excellent job setting the vibe of the whole event. In particular, we requested a chill Bossa Nova type playlist for the dinner, which we struggled to find ourselves, but he nailed exactly what we wanted. Dave also has a great sense for the energy of the dance floor, and he found just the right times to both reinvigorate the event and slow the pace down.
Overall, we had a fantastic time with Big Sand and felt it was a great value for what we paid.

days before the wedding and went over everything in detail (literally down to which seconds of the songs were going to be played)! He was the perfect mix of outgoing and professional, which is exactly what we wanted. Our guests complimented our music choices all night long. People were out on the dance floor until the lights came on! We also had a photo booth with a photo booth attendant and he was awesome! They even made us a photo album with the print outs of the photo strips. This was so special and nice to have to remember our guests and our day! We were able to make playlists on our wedding account and they even had pre-made playlists to make song selections easier. This was so helpful during the wedding planning. The site was extremely organized and made it a breeze to nail down our timeline and song choices! Big Sand Productions was genuinely one of the best wedding vendors we worked with. Lanise (and Pete) was always there for any questions we had and very prompt in their responses. Lanise was so kind to communicate with and she truly made the contract process so easy. I would recommend them 100 times over!

Honestly, I did not love our experience. One of my biggest frustrations was that we did not even have our call with the actual DJ until three days before the wedding, and there was...
not even a scheduled time for it, we basically had to wait around for her to call us. The day of the wedding, she also never introduced herself to us, which stood out because every other vendor made a point to do so.
There were also several issues during the event itself. She played the wrong song for my husband walking down the aisle, the transitions between songs throughout the night were rough. The fade out during our first dance was especially bad and really took away from an important moment. Overall, it just did not feel polished or organized, which was disappointing for such an important day.

As a company procedure, our DJs schedule the prep call 3 days prior to the event. In our experience, we find this effective in accommodating any last minute changes in the music or timeline. With that said, we absolutely want all of our clients to feel stress-free throughout the entire process, especially the week leading up to the wedding! So our clients are always welcome to reach out and schedule an early prep call as long as we can collect all finalized planning papers beforehand.
We train each DJ to introduce themselves to our clients and the surrounding staff so we’re very sorry to hear that we did not follow through with this at your wedding. We’ve found over the years that our clients tend to prefer us to remain more in the background when we’re not on the microphone but we completely agree that a proper introduction and handshake go a long way. We can assure you that this will be addressed moving forward. Every DJ on our team has a genuine care for each client that hires us and it’s important that we convey that to you. We recognize that there are many DJ companies to choose from and are grateful for each client who chooses to work with us.
Regarding your husband’s walk down song, our DJ sent us the playlist for your ceremony and the song she played did in fact match the song listed in the planning form. Regarding your first dance, our DJ informed us that you asked to fade the song out at 1:50, which she did. If there’s something that we’re missing, feel free to send us an email letting us know what specifically went wrong from your perspective. We take these formalities very seriously and want to assure that each song selection and mix is executed to perfection.
As far as the dancing transitions are concerned, it sounds like there were a number of song requests made by you and the wedding party for songs that were not listed in your original playlist. We are always more than happy to accommodate these requests! However, if the requested song is a bit more niche and hasn’t been previously downloaded, we do have to rely on third party apps like Spotify or Apple Music to play them for you.
Again, we’re very sorry that you experienced these frustrations and sincerely hope this response helps clear the air. With all that said, it was such a pleasure getting to work with you & Matt. We truly wish you both all the best in your next chapter together. Take care.

elyn. Big Sands made planning the ceremony and reception music simple with their portal you fill out before talking with your DJ. We were able to talk to her for less than one hour to coordinate our day, and everything went smoothly. Jocelyn was amazing at blending our playlist with her own to keep the dance floor going all night. My guests kept raving about how much fun they had!

Our DJ, Jocelyn, was absolutely amazing! Leading up to the wedding, she stayed in touch to confirm every detail and offered great guidance whenever we weren’t sure about something. On the day of, she brought the perfect energy to both the ceremony and reception. We gave her a lot of freedom with song choices, and she nailed the vibe—every song felt spot-on.
Jocelyn was so friendly and fun to work with, and our guests loved her too. We’re so glad we chose Big Sand Productions and would recommend them to any couple looking for a talented, reliable, and genuinely great team!

s delivered! Dave was an incredible DJ, he played all of our must play songs and totally understood our music preferences. Every song he played was great and the dance floor was going all night long! So many of our friends and family complimented us the music and loved the DJ. Zack was our saxophonist and he was also amazing! He played the entire time he was there and added so much to the evening! We would highly recommend hiring Big Sands Production, and hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to also work with either Dave or Zach :)

He was so nice and was a true professional with all of the last minute changes and going with the flow. We didn’t give him much to work with when he asked what kind of music/vibe we wanted for our cocktail hour, but he played exactly what we were thinking. We had so many compliments with how fun the wedding was, and we can only thank Dave. He kept the party going and we were pleasantly surprised by how full the dance floor was the entire night! For the day of, our DJ was Mason and he was phenomenal. We spoke with him a few days prior and he made sure he had the right versions of all the important songs, we talked through the microphones for the ceremony and the vibe we were hoping for. On the day, Mason blew us away and kept our dance floor packed. He played from the list we gave him, but knew when it was time to switch gears to keep the party going. We had a lot of compliments about Mason, and we have nothing but positive things to say about him and Big Sand as a whole!
