Billy's Bakery

I hate to write a bad review of my favorite bakery, but I've gotta do it. First off, Billy's cakes are delicious and were a delicious addition to my wedding. However, getting the cakes there was a complete and total nightmare. To be clear, we weren't spending millions on a custom made tiered cake. We were buying four delicious cakes for eating and were simply going to put one out with our cake toppers. We made this choice because I wanted delicious cakes, but didn't care about a ceremonial cutting etc... However, our venue was in Long Island City - apparently outside of Billy's delivery area. They offered no help or suggestions as to how I might get the cakes across the bridge, no recommendation of another delivery service etc... Actually, they told me to go to another bakery. Undeterred, I made arrangements for my mother-in-law to receive the cakes that morning and take a taxi across the bridge with them. The cakes were supposed to be delivered by 11am, however only one was delivered by 1pm and the other three showed up at 3:45. By the way, my mother-in-law was supposed to be in Long Island City for photos at 4pm. So I spent the afternoon of my wedding calling and chasing after the bakery to get my cakes delivered. I tried and failed to avoid cake drama by going for simple yet delicious cakes. The actual problem was that their staff was so completely unhelpful at every step of the way. So as delicious as the cakes were, I absolutely would not recommend them for a wedding or other key event when you might actually want something delivered or on time.

Billy's is our favorite cupcake place and we thought it would be prefect to have our favorite cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. Billy's was super easy to order from. I just needed to give 48 hour notice and that was it. my wedding was on a Sunday and they don't deliver on Sundays so one of my girls picked them up. If I had gone with a traditional wedding cake it would have cost about 5 times as much and I would have had to give like 6 months notice. I couldn't be happier with my cupcakes & my budget loved them too

Best wedding cake ever. Long story short, we knew we wanted carrot cake as our wedding cake and Billy's make the best. Instead of using their wedding cake department, which would have been a total of $700 for a 90 serving cake, we bought a sheet cake that served 80 and an 8" round cake for our reception to cut for a total cost of $150!!! No one missed the tiered cake and instead people ended up have two slices it was sooo good. Can't say enough!!
