Their dream for a tranquil space where people could share and celebrate life’s most significant milestones was realized with the help of their family friend Lily Fitch. Lily helped Denise and Chris to lay out the initial design of the chapel. They commissioned the help of 16 local craftsmen to create this incredible event space. Each square inch of the building has been constructed with detailed love and care, faithful to the artistic design on which it was based. The swirling roofline resembles the chapel’s namesake, a birch leaf, and a similar design can be seen carved into the wood of the door. The interior features evocative stained glass panels, assembled by Denise. The design tracks the evolution of the four seasons. When the sun shines through the panes, vivacious, colorful light is refracted over your union. Wooden benches run along the walls of the chapel, providing ready-made seating for your ceremony. Coming in from the fresh Alaskan chill outdoors, you and your guests can be greeted by a warm fire alight in the building’s stove. With a maximum capacity of 30 people, this is an idyllic location for intimate ceremonies. This chapel is suitable for wedding services, vow renewals, elopements, and other events that benefit from a tranquil atmosphere. Extra seating and tables are provided by the management, as well as the use of a piano for ceremony music. You can also use the venue’s sound system to plug in and play your own music. There is also a heated outhouse and ample parking for use by you and your guests. The owners of the venue have also compiled a catalog of recommended vendors if you’re seeking local talent to embellish your special day.
