Our cake was delicious and beautiful! My guests ate every single slice and raved about the pink strawberry cake with fresh berries in the filling. They also did my morning-of catering while we were getting ready. The food was delicious and easy to nibble on while we had hair and makeup done.

If you're looking for a bakery that both has vision and makes you feel heard, Bittersweet THE ONE! We are so thankful to have been recommended to meet with Cheryl and the Bittersweet team early in our vendor search for our New Orleans wedding, and we strongly recommend them!! My husband and I decided years ago that New Orleans was going to be the place for our wedding "our way," so once the world started leveling back out from COVID it was time to plan. As you are probably feeling, planning a wedding is stressful and/or a bit daunting from the start. Planning a destination wedding that you can't just run over and meet vendors on your lunch break/ the weekend? Oh, the stress is real. As we started getting into meetings with wedding vendors, we had a specific desire for a dessert table at our Reception but needed some serious help with designing a "unique" cake design to make our other design plans. Cheryl was incredibly helpful right from the start, making herself available to meet us outside of regular tasting times to accommodate our short in-person planning trip. During the tasting, we fell in love with her and the Bittersweet team, and the immediate creativity of her ideas for our very-rough vision/design concepts solidified that she was the one! In addition to our Unique Cake and Dessert Table request, we had a close friend celebrating their Birthday on our Wedding Day, and we wanted to surprise her with her own Happy Birthday moment and cake. We again had a rough idea of what we wanted (an "over-sized cupcake covered in rainbow flair) - but had no idea how awesome of a surprise Cheryl had cooked up until our Reception. As soon as we started the announcement of our friend's birthday, out comes an OVERSIZED cup-CAKE for our friend. She was so incredibly surprised, and we are so so so thankful for the help and support from Cheryl & the Bittersweet Team! Also - how amazing does our cake look?! The dessert table was a raging success, and my bottom-line statement to tell you is: BOOK Bittersweet! You will not regret it!

Bittersweet did a great job with our wedding cakes. We had a few changes leading up to our wedding and they were very responsive and accommodating with everything we needed. The cakes also looked and tasted great, all our guests loved them.

Bittersweet was fantastic for our wedding cake. Bittersweet was the first place we tried (as we love their king cakes), but we did our due diligence and tried others as well. Nothing compared to the taster provided by Bittersweet. The taster was fantastic, with five cakes and five icings to try in varying combinations. It was well worthwhile, as we didn't know how traditional we wanted our cake to be. We ultimately narrowed it down to two different cakes, chocolate or almond, and decided to ask if we could marble the cake, and they agreed! It helped to make our cake stand out and give it a unique flavor. When it came to icing and decoration, we sent them a few pictures from Pinterest, and they nailed the look we were going for! Fantastic job all around, would definitely recommend Bittersweet for weddings and will be going there for special occasion cakes!

We highly recommend Bittersweet Confections for any event -- especially a wedding reception. Simply put, their cakes are amazing -- smooth, moist and incredible. Our daughter's wedding cake had alternating layers of almond and strawberry cake topped by a decadently delicious icing. The groom's cake was also a sensation. He is from Croatia and he had provided detailed artwork of the Croatian flag, including the Croatian provincial crests. The guests from Croatia were so impressed by how accurate and beautifully done the cake was. Bittersweet Confections' attention to fine detail in the groom's cake created a visually stunning cake that was breathless to behold. It was a red velvet cade and was delicious! Numerous guests mentioned that it was the best wedding cake they have ever had. Cheryl was so easy to work with and helpful in the ordering process. We highly recommend Bittersweet Confections!

We hired Bittersweet for both our Wedding Cake and Groom’s cake. Their cakes were excellent in both taste and design. Our wedding cake was a very traditional--5 tiers with almond/wedding cake outer icing, almond/wedding cake, and cream cheese filling. Not only was it easily one of the best–if not the best–cake we’ve ever tasted, the design was elegant and perfectly matched our wedding. They also worked with us to create a stencil for the outer icing which matched the design of the bride’s veil and was absolutely beautiful. The Groom’s cake was a chocolate cake with cookies and cream icing and oreo garnish. We decided to go with Bittersweet for the Groom’s Cake well after we’d asked them to make the wedding cake and they worked with me to schedule a tasting during my bachelor weekend in New Orleans on pretty short notice. With no direction from me other than the flavors I wanted they made a Groom’s cake that was not only delicious, but was also a perfect companion to the Wedding Cake. Overall, Bittersweet made delicious, perfectly designed cakes, and were very accommodating in doing so. Delicious and beautiful! I worked with Cheryl and Venessa, great customer service. I wanted to surprise my husband with pilot wings on his grooms cake (something he wanted but didn’t think it was possible). I ordered a mold off Etsy and had it shipped to their business and it turned out perfect! After the cake was dropped off, there was an accident while setting up that led to the red velvet layer getting messed up. Without hesitation, they came back to the venue and fixed it before guests arrived. I had no idea this happened until after the wedding and am so thankful for them!

We had a small intimate wedding and wanted to have something that tasted amazing yet felt New Orleans so we ordered a Mardi Gras cake and added a topper. I sent email from their website. Vanessa was great during the process answering questions via email and giving us options for delivery since we live in Texas but coordinating our destination wedding . We stopped by the shop on a visit to finalize the details and pay for the cake when we decided to sample some of their items. We knew the cake would be delicious. Amazing taste. Texture and I am still craving the frosting. Our guests loved it. The staff in the shop were all sweet. Helpful and great example of Customer service. No issues for delivery. I had forgot to check with the restaurant to make sure it was delivered. They delivered on time and worked well in coordinating with the restaurant which made it easy on for me on the wedding day. Highly recommend!

Our cake came out perfectly! It was exactly what we wanted! The entire team was so helpful throughout the planning process! They took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted and it turned out better than we could have imagined! Along with it being beautiful, the cake was also absolutely delicious!

The wedding cake turned out perfect - the flavor and design could not have been better. From the experience of deciding what flavor during our tasting to working with Chryl to design our beautiful wedding cake with magnolias, Bittersweet Confections did a marvelous job for our wedding. The king cake tower/groom’s cake was also a big hit for its design and flavor. When we wanted to incorporate something about the Eagles vs. Saints, Cheryl suggested mini football helmets. It was perfect! It is also now one of my favorite wedding cakes in the city!!

The Wedding cake and Groom's cake were at the top of the list in important choices for our daughter's wedding. Go to the Magazine street location for a taste test (call in advance to order a sample box to take home). We chose the red velvet with cream cheese filling and almond cake with strawberry cream filling. Oh my goodness! ( I could eat a bowl of the strawberry cream filling! ) So glad we ordered a cake large enough to have some to take home. 4 days later and that cake is still moist and delicious. I hope I get a piece on their First Anniversary! For the Groom's cake we chose a king cake since the Groom loves king cake and the wedding was on the first weekend in the Mardi Gras season. The king cake was so moist and delicious! Everyone raved about both cakes. As a surprise for the Bride and Groom I wanted a peekaboo dog for the Groom's cake. Bittersweet suggested an Etsy website (COB Creations) and the couple was thrilled when they saw "Ivory" peeking through their cake. Cheryl and her staff are always ready to answer any questions you may have and their work is absolutely amazing! A little Lagniappe: Our Guest Book was a book of King Cakes and Cheryl's cakes are featured in it. Her cake pulls are very nice.

These cakes are not only stunning but taste amazing!! Absolutely loved our wedding and groom cakes. 100/10 recommend them over any other bakery for your wedding or any other event!

Cheryl and her team were fantastic! You can’t go wrong with any of the cake flavors. We chose almond wedding cake - classic and delicious. We wanted a “naked” cake with no fondant or modeling chocolate and it turned out beautiful. If you’re getting married you can’t go wrong. We can’t thank her enough for the beautiful cake.

We absolutely loved our wedding cake from Bittersweet! They made it very easy to talk through ideas and gave really helpful suggestions! My fiancé and I had so much fun taking the “tasting box” home to try out all of the different combination options for our cake. Our guests raved about it at the reception! And it was fun to ask which layer did you get—vanilla or strawberry? Some even had to go back for seconds to try the other flavor lol I also took advantage of their day of catering menu and had two trays of sandwiches delivered for my bridal party while we got ready! They were a huge hit and took the stress off for what to feed my ladies pre-ceremony! Thank you Bittersweet!

I used Bittersweet for catering for my bridesmaids while we were getting ready for the day of my wedding. The food was fantastic! Everyone thought it was the perfect mix of being very substantial but not too heavy. Even better, it didn't sacrifice quality or taste. Communication/ordering was super easy and they even delivered. Everyone loved it and they went above and beyond to accommodate a nut allergy. Absolutely delicious! Thank you!

Beautiful and delicious, just what we needed!!

We had to change bakeries three days before our wedding date and we walked into Bittersweet Confections on the off chance they may be willing to accomodate our request. Lucky for us, they went above and beyond and made us a small cake to cut and beautiful cupcakes that were absolutley delicious. I would 100% recommend them for your wedding!

They gave me my dreeeaaam cake for my wedding I couldn’t have asked for it to be more beautiful & perfect. They communicated extremely well and kept me posted on how things were even with me being states away from them. It was absolutely stunning, Cheryl thank you sooo much! We loved it!

Beautiful cake and fantastic flavors! My partner and I planned a wedding from out of town and Cheryl and her team were amazing to work with. Their communication throughout the entire process and delivery day-of were seamless. She coordinated with our florist as well and the result blew me away. Our guests were extremely complimentary. Amazing cake design and taste!! I love there unique flavors they have to offer - we went with the funfetti for our main cake and it was so good!! I loved they were will to try something totally new when I presented my ideas of spray paint like art on the cake - knocked it out of the park! They were great with communication! Highly recommend!!

We hired Bittersweet Confections to do our wedding cake and they were so great to work with. We have three crazy dogs at home and were looking for a cute way to incorporate them into our special day. That's where Bittersweet came in and said they could create replicas of each dog and add them to the cake, it was absolutely adorable! The Bittersweet team was incredible! Not only do they have the best tasting cake in New Orleans, the owner, Cheryl, is so sweet! We hired Bittersweet for my bridal shower, mom's birthday cake, bridal suite catering and my wedding cake. They exceed our expectations. Being an out-of-state bride, Cheryl made the tasting process during Covid easy and was accommodating on changes I made to our wedding cake. My mom was unable to make my tasting but my dad brought petit fours (her favorite) home to her on the plane. She said they were the best tasting petit fours she had ever had so she new the cake would be amazing! Bittersweet created the most beautiful cheese board and yummy sandwiches for my bridal suite. Cheryl delivered my cake on my wedding day! It was a special moment to get to wave to her as she drove by while I was outside taking pictures. We will visit Bittersweet every time we visit New Orleans and plan on using them for my cousin's bridal shower! Thank you Cheryl and Bittersweet team!

We were so happy with our Bride and Groom cakes we ordered from Bittersweet. Cheryl and her team were an absolute pleasure to work with, answering our endless questions, and assuring we were happy with the final products.

After having to cancel our October 2020 wedding, my partner and I decided to elope at our original venue, Race + Religious, keeping our original theme of a spooky and dilapidated Old World feeling. We decided, for our cake, to go with an aged and moldy vibe for our cake, almost as if our cake had been sitting there for ages, waiting out in the elements for us to finally be able to get married. Making a cake look delicious, beautiful, and rotten is no small feat, but Cheryl and her team at Bittersweet Confections did an absolutely exceptional job, delivering a final product that was the most elegant version of distressed we could possibly have dreamed of which also tasted absolutely divine! We could not be happier with how this cake turned out and cannot recommend Bittersweet Confections highly enough - they are such a collaborative, creative, and beyond talented team - and you will be so happy you chose them for your special day!

We made a last minute decision to get a wedding cake and were referred to Bittersweet by our wedding planner. They made picking a cake easy and fun. We settled on funfetti cake with raspberry and it was delicious!! Pricey but ultimately it was a great decision.

Bittersweet knocked it out of the park! The cake was beautiful and delicious. And they were able to make it all gluten free - by far the best gluten free cake I’ve ever had. Planning for a COVID wedding, things can change frequently, and Bittersweet was able to accommodate every change we threw at them. My bride had a very specific look she wanted for her dream wedding cake, and as our guest list shrank with the growing concern of COVID, Bittersweet was able to scale the size without losing any of the look. We couldn’t have been happier to work with a more accommodating or professional team, and they’re product truly is outstanding.

Wedding cakes are a tradition and personally I’m not a big cake fan, but Bittersweet Confection changed my perspective on Wedding Cakes. I see all these beautiful cakes posted on their website, but my experience was just really sad. I Ordered a very special custom wedding cake for our Halloween elopement. I was so very excited about what they were going to do for us. However, what I received was far below any decent expectation. They used no creativity and it was very disappointing. In addition, they did not let me know it was being delivered. I had to call them the day of my wedding to even find out where the cake was. Even worse, the cake itself tasted like cardboard. I complained to the Cheryl and offered an acceptance of a 50% refund to at least cover all their cost of ingredients and labor but she has refused and is now ignoring my requests. DO NOT USE this bakery.

The cakes were beautiful and delicious. We ordered catered lunch of sandwiches and salad on wedding day, which was also delicious. My mom had special ordered a grooms cake decorated for the Saints to surprise my husband and it turned out awesome. They even let us last minute rent cake stands! Cheryl worked really closely with my mom on the lunch, grooms cake and also ordered scones/pralines. They were all so good and even cake with stickers that had our name/date on them. Definitely recommend!

Cheryl is so sweet and listened to exactly what I wanted. I had booked her last minute because my original bakery closed shop. I am so glad I ended up with her because she made me a gorgeous wedding cake! I changed my mind so many times on the design but she remained patient with me. I had no idea what my cake was going to taste like because we actually never had a chance to do a tasting but I was pleasantly surprised on my big day!

Bittersweet Confections baked a four tier traditional wedding cake for us. Before choosing Bittersweet, we went to several different bakeries and did cake tastings but none of the cakes were up to par with Bittersweet. We could immediately tell that they were a level above the rest and perfected all aspects of a wedding cake (moisture, cake flavor, icing, design, etc.). Not only did our cake come out looking beautiful but it was THE best tasting cake that we have EVER had. Guests all night were raving about it. We loved eating the leftover cake after the wedding. We can't wait to dig into the top tier for our anniversary.

Best wedding cake ever! Everyone was so impressed by our wedding cake and 4 tier King cake. The wedding cake was perfect and my only regret was not sneaking away with more. Our guest also loved the different flavor King cakes. So yummy and just the season for it. Highly recommend doing the almond cake with buttercream icing, perfect blend.

Wow. Where to begin with this amazing experience! I have a severe nut allergy which prevents me from eating anything made in a facility that uses any kind of nut in their products As a result, I have never had wedding cake before in my life, and I have always dreamed of finally enjoying it on my wedding day. That dream started to fade when I talked to numerous bakers in New Orleans, explained my situation to them, and they all said no (reasonably so considering it could be a liability for them). But when I spoke to Cheryl, she was happily determined to accommodate me and make my dream come true. It truly made our wedding day so special!

Ben and his team were amazing. We did not want a super large cake, but we definitely wanted a delicious and unique cake. Ben gave us some samples and asked what we had in mind. He took our ideas and made them into a delicious and unique cake that ended up being a total hit at the reception. We live out of own, and anytime we were in Nola, Ben was always able to fit us into his busy schedule :) He delivered exactly what we wanted and we highly recommend Bittersweet Confections for any occasion.

Bittersweet Confections not only has the best brunch in NOLA, but their cakes are breathtakingly beautiful and delicious! We were out of towners that couldn't come in for the standard cake tasting. The management team at Bittersweet had us come in during brunch (the day after we flew into town - just 4 days before the big day) and they set us up with a little tasting and verified the style of the cake we had requested. Bittersweet also added in the last minute cake pulls we decided on, and everything was perfect and delicious!
