We had a wide variety of desserts at our wedding (cake, cupcakes, donuts, tarts). Everything was great and the cake was perfect! We also have had several other desserts outside of our wedding and everything has been so yummy!

Katie at Black Currant was awesome to work with! She was super helpful every step of the way and the cake was delicious. They made an entirely gluten free cake for us and I can say that as the bride and groom we had to fight over the two pieces left over at the end of the night because our guests enjoyed it so much.

We did a sweets table with a Small 2-tiered cake, macarons, cookies, and cupcakes, and it came together beautifully! Katie crafted the most beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding. It was so perfectly decorated and exactly what I had envisioned. Walking into the reception and seeing our cake was, by far, one of my favorite parts of the day. I am also super grateful that we didn't have to coordinate much of anything--our cake seemingly magically appeared at the reception. All of it was taken care of, worry-free. The same can be said of my communications with Katie before the wedding; she made everything simple for me. Many thanks & we can't wait to have our anniversary cake next year!

Katie & the Black Currant team made us the most beautiful cake and other desserts! It was absolutely gorgeous. We had tarts, cupcakes, macarons, and fruit bars. I highly recommend using her and her team, you can't go wrong!

We had a mini wedding in August 2021 due to my father being sick. We ordered a cake, wildberry crumb bars, and chocolate chip cookies for the event. A stacked black currant cake from the regular menu was ordered, picked up and set up by the bride. Everyone at our wedding said it was the best cake that they have ever had and requested it for our big wedding in 2023 and I wish that was possible!

Katie was great to work with. Her cakes abd fillings are outstanding! We had a 3 tier cake with a glass tier that was beautiful and we now have the glass piece for a keepsake. The black currant filling is unique and delicious!! Thank you!!

Black Currant Bakehouse was AMAZING to work with! We had them do a small cake for our micro-wedding and it turned out so beautiful!! I sent Pinterest images of what I liked and it was executed perfectly. Not to mention, it tasted fantastic- my family is already talking about going back for birthday and anniversary cakes! With our plans changing a million times because of covid, it meant a lot to not have to worry about our dessert being in good hands.

Working with Katie was a definite pleasure! The cake flavors we had, especially the black currant buttercream, were delicious and the birch bark decoration was also absolutely perfect. I particularly loved the fruit tarts and rich brownies at the dessert bar, and got many compliments from guests! There were even yummy gluten free options for several of our guests. We enjoyed all the yummy desserts - they were delicious! Our guests committed “It might have been the best tasting cake I’ve ever had at a wedding.” The lemon bars, chocolate cookies and donuts were also a big hits with our guests. Katie was great to work with.

We got our wedding cake at Black Currant Bakehouse and couldn't have been happier! The vegan and gluten free options are really, really good (honestly you wouldn't tell the difference on a blind test). The aesthetic of the cake was gorgeous and just what we asked for! Katie of the Black Currant Bakehouse is supremely talented. She was very accommodating in the planning process, and on the day of our wedding. Her skill set is so adept that I showed her a picture of what I was hoping for, and she executed it wonderfully. She creatively incorporated all flavor combinations we dreamed up. She supplied gluten free and vegan cupcakes to accompany our beautiful cake. The cake Katie made for us is what our guests remember the most. It was exquisite!

Black currant and owner Katie were awesome. She catered my daughters wedding in September and I can’t say enough. We ordered the coconut lime bars, fruit tarts and the brownies. They were beyond delicious and presented so nice. She was the best to work with as well. I would highly recommend them.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Katie from Black Current Bakehouse in Union Pier/New Buffalo, Michigan. After researching for a bakery in the area, that we were not from, we chose the BCB first based on photographs then had our tasting which confirmed that we wanted to have them make my daughters wedding cake and donuts for our donut wall. Everything turned out wonderful and I would highly recommend them for future brides or other events.

We received soo many compliments on our wedding cake - not only did it look beautiful, it tasted delicious!!! We ended up doing a 3 tier cake (lemon with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream) and also had an assorted dessert table which included donuts, wildberry crumb bars, and carrot cake cupcakes - all were AMAZING!!! Katie was so helpful and accommodating during the planning process - she also personally goes to the venue on your big day to make sure everything looks perfect. Katie was a superstar from start to finish, she made my wife and I into a pair of matching edible penguins! These two penguins guarded some of the most delicious white cake and raspberry filling I have ever had in my life. Our guests thought the cake was adorable and captured our personalities perfectly.
