About this vendor
* Heads Up!
Overnight stays are currently unavailable while we sort out county compliance—womp womp.
We’ve made every effort to comply with current local ordinances, and lodging is not permitted at this time.
The venue is racking up Couples Choice awards, but remains a hidden gem only beginning to enter the limelight.
Relatively new, and pristine.
The property brings together one spectacular asset after another, in an array of beauty that will put you in touch with true nature during your once-in-a-lifetime day. All-organic, healing energy, and California grown.
Leave Ordinary Behind.
150 acres of Privacy. There won't be any tasting groups "pulling up" during your wedding. There won't be a second, third or fourth wedding "on property" during this incredible time in your life. The good thing about this is it's not Napa. (sorry Napa).
Because the property is YOURS on this day. And we do open your time to a generous 10 hours instead of the customary 6 or even 4. We can't imagine how a person gets married in that little time, but apparently they do.
And yes, there actually is a Cool, California! Right next to Awesome, lol. Black Oak is both a vineyard and special event venue like NO other. Serving San Fran, The Bay Area, Sacramento to LA and beyond. Many find us from Los Angeles and New York.
Wedding planners have called us the Malibu Rocky of the north and we can agree that there are similarities. Perhaps gentler on the rules and attitude. ;)
We have two jaw-dropping facilities, a desert mountain Villa, interior designed by famed Kristi Sandford, and a well appointed Vineyard Club for the party to end all parties. Cut-off in Cali is 10PM but you can lead the party animals into the Club and go crazy till midnight if desired.
There's an area even higher than the estate Villa, loaded with spectacular 80 year old Black Oaks, and 360° views all the way to the Snow-Capped Sierras. Your wedding will take place here. Jaw dropping is not the word. One wedding planner brought up actual church pews. She's in our Little Black Book of exclusive vendors if you need her.
If you're staying over, invite your best guests to be with you at the Villa. Get up early, brew our PachaMama local coffee (French is best!) and go out to experience the views to heaven and beyond. We'll have the spa hot for you of course.
You don't want to plan just a wedding, you want to plan an epic party to end them all. The most incredible celebration of life, love and family that has ever been.
Our job is to help you do that. We offer Zero Stress overnight packages (up to a full weekend) and can accommodate 22 guests.
Just FYI, Black Oak was developed as an all-organic vineyard and uses *structured* water throughout, even on the vines. The pool is a salt pool and also uses structured water (feels SO good). The property promotes healing energy and feels like home from the very moment you and your guests enter it.

There were quite a bit of major things that didn’t go as planned. I understand that nothing is going to be perfect, but I believe that the things that didn’t go as planned were avo...
idable.
For example, Meat bees (we should have had been pre-warned about the bees. We would have opted to have the reception inside had we been made aware). Many guest told us that they couldn’t even enjoy the food because their plates were swarmed and they were afraid to sit outside due to the fear of being stung.
•Although most of the guest were shuttled from the barn to the home and greatly appreciated, my 90 year old blind grandmother had to walk up the dirt hill to the ceremony after my mom was guaranteed/approved that she would be “golf carted” up to the top of the hill by staff. I was told she was very terrified.
•Guest were allowed to wonder around in the backyard before the start of the wedding and a few of them were able to see me through the master bedroom windows. I thought the back of the house would have been sectioned off to prevent me from being seen.
•There was a visible trash can next to the table and entrance of the barn where guest walked in. Unfortunately, the trash can will be captured in my pictures. I thought the trash can would not be right next to the entrance.
•I spent hundreds of dollars on candles and they were not set out at dinner nor at the walk up/stairs entrance to the wedding ceremony. (Candles were the theme of my wedding). I thought I made that super clear that that was what I wanted.
• I bought a ton of plastic silverware to be placed next to the cake for the guests. My sister had to ask a staff member for forks. The staff responded to my sisters question by stating that the guest were told to keep the same fork they had for dinner for the cake, which was unacceptable.
•No prior notification of when the house workers/staff would enter the home. There were a few occasions when Shana entered the home without announcing herself and she was in the laundry room standing quietly. She stated that she was doing laundry but when I looked in the washer and dryer, there was no laundry in either machine. This was early in the morning so most of my guests were still in bed and the laundry had been done the night before by Anna. We were uncomfortable and unsure as to why she was just standing in the laundry room. Also, the morning of checkout, someone even took the bedsheets off the bed when I went back to the master bedroom to lay down for a moment. This was approximately 2-3 hours before check out. I was hoping to relax for the last couple of hours before we vacated the premises but was unable to.
Ultimately I don’t think the quality of service measured up anywhere near the amount of money we spent of this venue that didn’t include any decorations. We were aware nothing was included but with the cost alone we expected we’d have more prepared staff. Me and my family which included more than 10 people helped set up night before and day of wedding up until we literally had to walk down the aisle. I thought BOMV staff would be more prepared as they do weddings weekly. Remember no plates, silverware, or napkins for guest. PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. Your wedding is so much more than a pretty view.
All photos attached are decor I or my family bought and own. Not one decoration will be provided by venue. You will see trash bins at entrance of barn to wedding.
We chose to go with the 3 day wedding package at this venue and that was the absolute best decision we could have made. We had our wedding on a thursday, which did save a bit of mo...
ney. The whole experience was amazing and seamless. The venue itself is breathtaking, clean, and very well polished. We loved being able to host our "Welcome dinner/Rehearsal" at the venue the night before and then be able to wake up and get ready for wedding day without having to stress about getting there on time since we were already on site. The staff at BOMV is very accommodating and flexible. We booked our wedding date 16 months in advance and Jane was very quick to respond to my emails throughout the whole process. We had multiple guests say this was the best wedding they have ever attended. We could not recommend BOMV enough. DO IT!!!
We were lucky enough to randomly stumble across BlackOak for our wedding venue and couldn't be happier. The place is amazing and the staff are wonderful. Jane is a 10/10 and will d...

e to book your wedding in this area that even comes close to comparison. Not only is this place beautiful, but the people that work here are wonderful. Jane communicates excellently and is with you 100% of the way, and she has an amazing team behind her. The staff is wonderful and makes sure that everything is just how you imagined on your special day. I would recommend Black Oak Mountain Vineyards to anyone in a heartbeat and without hesitation! Thank you BOMV! We had the most amazing day!
Absolutely beautiful venue! We hosted our wedding in the barn at Black Oak Mountain Vineyards and we couldn’t have asked for a better day! Our wedding day was drizzly and chilly, b...
ut with our smaller reception the barn was able to accommodate our guests and keep them comfortable with the heat on. This venue is truly magical and breathtaking, after we toured this venue we knew we didn’t need to look anywhere else and nowhere else would compare. Jane was wonderful and helpful during the tour and just as great to work with throughout the planning process. I loved that they had the farmhouse tables I always dreamed of! The staff did a wonderful job setting up the ceremony and reception tables and chairs as requested. Everyone that we encountered and worked with was kind and worked with us to ensure our day was perfect. It is truly a beautiful wedding venue site with amazing views!
I’m giving one star not because of the location. The location was beautiful, how the people running this place treated me was horrible. We booked the barn, the barn then had “pl...
umbing” issues and they moved us to the house location. The day we had our wedding there was going to be pg&e rolling black outs. They reassured me that the generator would power everything in the house. This happened October 25,2020 and I was so disturbed by this experience I am finally writing this. My caterers were trying to cook in the dark because there were no lights for them. There were no lights for my tables outside that were set up for the reception. One of the TWO bathrooms was like by damn candles. The workers there didn’t care about our wedding and barely gave us any direction once the weather changed and they couldn’t even fully power the venue anymore. When I wrote them an email after about how heart broken I was, the woman gaslit me, made fun of our wedding.
This venue is absolutely stunning! The house and barn have the best views and decor. All the staff were kind and helped make our weekend the best. Jane was very accommodating and ...

pictures, you’ll think back on, for years to come. The staff is equally incredible. They reply quickly, take the time to brainstorm with you, are willing to be flexible and accommodate most any request within their means and made us feel like celebrities for a day. There is no more important decision than your venue- I’m promising, look no further!
Black Oak Mountain Vineyards is exceptional. The venue is chic, excellently taken care of, and has stunning views all around. Not only is the venue beautiful, the staff are wonderf...
ul to work with. I mainly talked with Jane and she was so helpful, responsive, and trustworthy. We were also allowed to take engagement photos at the venue and our photos turned out more beautiful than I imagined (the views are seriously the best). I would recommend this venue to anyone.
I would say they are misleading, but it would be more accurate to say they are straight up liars. You go on the tour and the lady, Jane, is so nice, talks about how understanding t...
hey are and want to work with couples. When asked about getting a deposit back if something doesn’t work out, she responded “It says on the contracts that deposits are non refundable, but we like to work with our clients, because we know how hard things are on everyone right now. If we can reschedule your date, and we haven’t paid for anything yet, you can get a refund.” Wow! How kind and reasonable, right?
Not so fast. We booked our date almost 14 months ahead of time and gave our deposit. Once we started looking at their vendors and wedding planners, we saw that they are way more expensive than almost anywhere else. So, with over a year to spare, and only three weeks after we put down our deposit, we contacted them and asked to cancel. After a few emails of them saying they may do a partial refund, they pulled a Willy Wonka and just said you get nothing. They are keeping our deposit with over 13 months from the day we chose, saying they “may not find someone” to book that date again. Really? Not one couple in over a year would come and choose that date on a weekend in May? In the same email, Shelly (the estate manager) admits they are keeping our money just because they can even though she wrote “I know that we can probably re-book your dates…”
I’m sure someone will post a bs “Sorry if you feel mislead” in response to this, like the other review with the same experience. However, if the venue doesn’t want to continue to receive bad reviews, perhaps changing your business plan on not allowing false advertising be your go-to to receive business would be a good place to start.
For the price that they charged for a Sunday wedding and 1 night in the house (no food, bartenders, servers, wedding coordinator, etc.), we booked another venue that is way nicer and includes everything for a wedding, with the exception of photographers, flowers and a DJ. Plus the price includes hotel stay for over half of our guests, and breakfast the next morning.
Black Oak said they were new to the wedding business. Clearly.

he planning process went so smoothly, we mainly worked with Jane and she was so responsive, helpful and promptly got back to all my tedious questions! This really took the stress off the planning and what more can I bride ask for! Black Oak has a very reliable team, they showed that they were happy to have us there and were so flexible and helpful up until and on the wedding day. They have an icredible team setting up the tables, chairs, etc. for reception and ceremony - everything had been set up exactly like we discussed with Jane on our planning meeting, and done by the time we arrived to get ready at the beautiful estate. My vendors loved working with the Black Oak team as well! We can't say enough good words, this was truly a dream come true and the Black Oak team made this possible!
With all of the craziness that 2020 brought to our wedding planning I’m SO happy it lead us to this venue. They made my wedding so much more than I could have expected and it was d...
one with such joy! This venue is unlike any I have ever seen and all of my guest said it was the BEST wedding they’ve ever been to. The staff couldn’t have been more down to earth and helpful and the options of views and styles are endless. I feel so blessed to have had my wedding here and would recommend it a thousand times over!
We had our wedding here in October 22nd at the estate and we simply cannot say enough good things about black oak and their team. The estate is obviously absolutely gorgeous but th...
e black oak team was incredibly easy to work with and attended to our every need. The day could not possibly have been anymore perfect. You simply cannot go wrong with this venue and their team. Thank you SO much Black Oak, we appreciate all your help on our big day!

do whatever the bride wanted to make her day special. They seemed as excited as we were to have this wedding. We appreciated the attention to details, e.g. cleaning cobwebs on the outside of the barn, sweeping, dusting and just making sure all details were as they promised. The weather was warm for the ceremony (5:30 pm in August) but the umbrellas definitely helped to cut the heat for the guests. By the time the ceremony began, the sun had fallen behind the hill and there was a nice breeze, shade and a beautiful sunset for the reception. All the feedback I received from family and friends was positive and complimentary. The pictures were beyond stunning! We would highly recommend this site for any special event you are planning.
Black Oak Mountain Vineyards is like no other venue in Northern California! The views are absolutely breathtaking! There are 5 different ceremony sites and 2 receptions sites on th...
e property. The Estate has a gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks the vineyards and rolling sierra foothills. The area is beautiful and serene. There is a calmness in the air that makes Black Oak a very magical place to be. Very relaxing and awe inspiring in every direction. One of my favorite parts of the Estate is the outdoor shower with living walls. Absolutely nothing like it!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Black Oak Mountain has stolen my deposit. I cancelled before the time delegated on the contract. I spoke to the manager, Mandy, and she verbally confirmed that ...
if we cancelled before April, our deposit would be refunded.
I cancelled and am now being refused my deposit. Brad, the owner, says that he is not issuing refunds to anyone cancelling their dates.
BEWARE, you will lose your deposit. STAY AWAY from this venue. They are unprofessional thieves.
