For our wedding we had Black Tie provide the DJ and Eddy Bobby did a fantastic job. He was thorough with the planning, set up the portal for us in an easy way, and kept the party going through the night. He did a very good job rolling with the inevitable hiccups in timing.

We are so glad we hired Black Tie Entertainment, DJ Eddy Bobby, for our wedding in July 2025 at the Spy Museum rooftop! From the very first call with Matt, we felt like we were in good hands—he listened to the vibe we wanted for the night and paired us with Eddy, who turned out to be a great fit. Eddy’s pre-ceremony music was such a highlight that several of our guests mentioned it to us, and throughout the night he played exactly what we hoped for. The planning form was easy to use, and I appreciated being able to request specific versions of songs. I had worried about the sound in the glass rooftop space, but because Eddy had experience at the venue, everything came through perfectly. We also rented the photo booth through Black Tie, and it was such a fun addition! Coordinating it was seamless since it was the same vendor, and we loved that we could customize the photo strip design. The props were great (and included!), and everyone could get multiple copies. If you’re on the fence about adding the photo booth, do it—and if you’re looking for a DJ who is professional, fun, and truly gets your vision, you can’t go wrong with Eddy!

We found our DJ through Black Tie Entertainment, and our assigned DJ was Andrew Nelson. One of the things that really impressed us about Black Tie is that all their DJs go through both DJ and MC training — and they don't subcontract, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. When you book, you have an initial consultation with someone from their team who asks thoughtful questions about your style and preferences, and then they match you with DJs based on your vision. That’s how we were paired with Andrew. Their communication and planning tools were fantastic. They provide an online portal where you and your DJ can both input and update everything from song requests to timeline details. I had several follow-up calls with Andrew to make sure he really understood our vibe — and on the day of, the energy and music were absolutely perfect. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and once the dancing started, Andrew really shined. His transitions, timing, and song selections for the dance party were spot-on — the exact fun, high-energy vibe we were hoping for. Our guests were raving about how much fun they had, and the dance floor stayed full the entire time. There were a couple of minor hiccups — our ceremony ran long, and Andrew needed about an hour to reset for the reception (which we knew beforehand but did not account for), so there was a short delay outdoors in the heat. And there were a few moments of uncertainty for what was happening next — but honestly, those were small things that only I or the planner would have noticed. From a guest perspective, everything was seamless. Andrew made up for it 100% once the party started, and we couldn’t have been happier with how the night ended. If you're looking for a professional, well-trained DJ team with great tools and even better music — I highly recommend Black Tie Entertainment. They helped bring our wedding to life.

I was so nervous when I was searching for a DJ for my wedding. When I had my first meeting with John at BTE, he made me feel so comfortable and confident that he would help create the best experience and he absolutely did! He was an incredible and professional MC and DJ. He provided the music our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He allowed us to personalize the each section of the wedding as we wanted to using the BTE website. The website was super user friendly! We absolutely loved every second of our wedding and are so lucky we had John for our day!!!! 100000/10 recommend.

DJ Andrew did such an incredible job as our MC and DJ for our wedding day! He was high energy, interactive, and played songs that had the dance floor full all night with guests from 3 years old all the way to those in their upper 70s!

Nick DJed our wedding this weekend and he ROCKED it. I had a really specific vision for our wedding and my vision did not involve uplighting, smoke machines, or disco balls… But nearly every DJ company I reached out to either included that in their simplest package by default or they tried to sell us on including it. When Matt, the booking agent, and I got on the phone, he began by asking what I was looking for. After spending a chunk of time listening to me, he said he knew exactly how to deliver it. Now on the other side of things, he was right! I knew I didn’t want a DJ who was going to be the hype man on the mic. I wanted the music and our guests to speak for themselves. We had a backyard BBQ style outdoor wedding with campfires, yard games, cocktails, food, lots of dessert… and a dance floor. I didn’t want our wedding to BE the dance floor. It was amazing that Matt’s planning in selecting a good DJ for my husband and I’s energy and Nick’s execution of the message from our planning meetings, we managed to have both. I was able to dance and party on the dance floor for a while with an ebbing and flowing crowd of people while also lounging and relaxing at fire pits. Nick didn’t try to change the vibe and he read the room perfectly. He followed my soft script and went with the flow, taking direction from my coordinator when the caterer dropped the ball on timing. He also wasn’t afraid to do his homework to prepare for the wedding- we did two planning meetings at his request. He watched the video I sent of our first dance and even mentioned to me that we nailed it afterwards. He sounded calm and confident throughout the event. He even stepped up to bolt across the dancefloor when the crazy wind blew my table linens into the pillar candles!!! We appreciated the professionalism that Nick blended with a fun and relatable personality. I know that he could deliver to other types of weddings as well, but as someone who wanted a really specific vision, and can be very particular, I am THRILLED with how Nick managed to nail that. He really did it! Thank you Nick and Matt!

DJ Matt was the BEST. My husband and I did not leave the dance floor all night - something I honestly wasn’t expecting, but every single song he choose and queued up was perfect, for a whole mix of guests of all ages. We had multiple planning meetings with Matt beforehand, and he was so receptive to all of our preferences and needs. He was very well organized too, and his company uses a great, user-friendly portal to input all your details and song choices ahead of time. Overall Matt had the perfect blend of taking our music tastes into account mixed with his expertise, and it made everything so fun. He was a great emcee as well, making announcements when needed and keeping the energy up all night.

You will not regret booking with Black Tie, especially John Lukehart. We knew we were hiring John for our wedding at the end of our first phone call with him. (He actually made us sleep on it, other DJs we talked to tried to rush us into booking!) During our initial call and the 18 months leading up to our wedding day, John was thorough, answered all of our questions, offered some amazing ideas (like a reverse anniversary dance to open the dance floor which was an absolute hit at our wedding!) and took everything we told him to heart. Throughout the planning process he was quick to reply to emails, worked with our coordinator, and helped map out our timeline for the day. Most importantly: We did not invite folks who are known for hitting the dance floor. From the time it opened up after speeches to the last song of the night it was completely packed. I had so many guests reaching out to me absolutely raving about the music, the flow, and the skills John provided that night. He was interactive with our crowd, knew how to highlight a moment, and kept the vibes and the music going right up until the end. The wedding was 3 days ago and I'm still sore from dancing so much! (and I am not a big dancer at all) Don't hesitate to book, especially with John! His schedule seems to fill up quick and it's clear why. He was professional, communicative, worked with us over the course of 18 months to get everything perfect, and helped make our wedding day more than we could ever have dreamed of.

From the beginning of our experience, Black Tie Entertainment was phenomenal! We started with a phone call consultation to determine which DJ would be the best fit for us and this phone call helped lay out the process for us. We also had access to a portal to enter all of our music into and to create a timeline with our DJ, which was very helpful for keeping things organized. I had already been to a wedding as a guest where Matt was the DJ and I knew I needed him to DJ our wedding as well. I could not have been more pleased with our choice. Matt met with us twice prior to the wedding to go over how the entire day would go music-wise, pick specific parts of the songs for things like our first dance and parent dances, and to get a vibe for what type of music we like. My husband and I didn't pick out lots of songs for the reception, but Matt was able to get such a good read on our taste in music anyway. He has such a gift for reading the room as well as the couple to create an unforgettable experience. So many of my family members commented on how awesome Matt was as our DJ. Our dance floor was PACKED from when we opened the dance floor to when our reception ended. Matt also gave us lots of expert tips about other aspects of our wedding from timing of the toasts to when to serve salads, which ended up being so helpful as well. In my opinion, Black Tie Entertainment, and specifically DJ Matt, is worth every penny and more!

Booking with Black Tie Entertainment was the best choice we could have made. Our initial call with Matt Johnson to see what services were provided was extremely thorough and engaging. My husband and I felt so comfortable with the services he recommended and appreciated the time he took to talk through typical timeline for DJs and coordinators leading up to the big day. We booked a DJ and month of coordinator and were wow’d. Our DJ, Chris Laing, was extremely professional in the way he led our introductory and timeline calls. He truly listened to what kind of vibe we wanted for our wedding and executed it perfectly. In the words of my husband, friends, and family, our wedding was lit! Our coordinator Becca Manning was very kind on our introduction call. Unfortunately, there was an error in the system and she was double booked but she found us the most amazing coordinator, Nikki Clark. Black Tie worked to get Nikki into their system so there was minimal impact to my husband and I plus we adored working with Nikki. Overall, my husband and I could not be happier with having booked with Black Tie Entertainment! 10/10 quality, people, and execution

Andrew kept great communication with us throughout the entire process. He had so many great ideas for our wedding and he gave such great creative direction. DJ Matt did an amazing job at our wedding! He was extremely focused and professional throughout the planning process and the day went smoothly thanks to his preparation and MC finesse. He responded quickly to changes and really got a good sense of us and our guests so he could adjust to what was happening. We were on the dance floor all night and loved every minute!

We absolutely loved working with our DJ, Chris. He asked us all the right questions and things we hadn't even thought of to prepare for our special day. His wealth of experience helped us with our timeline and also provided resources to make the day go smoother. It felt like we immediately vibed and he understood our vision for our reception. He also did a phenomenal job with helping us with cueing and MC'ing the varying parts of our wedding. We received many excited exclamations from our guests that they loved that Chris was "actually mixing". Chris is the GOAT, would highly recommend using him and Black Tie Entertainment.

Andrew made our wedding amazing and exceed our expectations. We were told by multiple guest that the music was amazing and the energy was high! There was a small hiccup with the DJ portal where music didn’t get saved the week prior. At our final meeting, Andrew helped solve the issue and make recommendations on music that we were unsure of. Andrew kept the crowd going and the dance floor full the entire night!

Matt was very professional throughout the process. Easy to communicate with through email and zoom meetings. He provided great input in creating a timeline and establishing a flow of events for our wedding. Black Tie provides a convenient portal through which we could add songs for all the major events, timelines, photobooth templates, and a general list of songs we wanted played on the dance floor. Day of our wedding, Matt was wonderful about working with other vendors to keep to the timeline of events while accounting for flexibility for last minute requests. He was able to keep the dancefloor engaged at all times and did a wonderful job of reading the room for all friends, older relatives, and young children who were present. All the equipment that was used by Blacktie worked well - the speakers, microphones, dance floor lighting, uplighting on the walls, and the photobooth We highly recommend both Matt and Black Tie for DJ and entertainment services

We hired Black Tie Entertainment as our DJ and as our Wedding Coordinator. John Lukehart was our DJ and Victoria Lukehart was our Wedding Coordinator - they were both FANTASTIC! John has a lot of experience as a DJ which made the planning process very smooth. He offered suggestions on song choices, styles, and timing. He also did a great job on the day-of with reading the room and being an emcee to make announcements and steer the crowd. We especially loved his house remixes! John was so much fun to work with. Victoria was very responsive and paid close attention to all the details both on the day and at our rehearsal. She communicated and coordinated with all of our vendors which took a lot of stress off of us in the planning process. She is a clear communicator and a problem solver. She is also incredibly personable! It was amazing to work with John and Victoria - they were so in-sync and it helped our day run perfectly smooth! We highly recommend John and Victoria with Black Tie!

We had a great experience working with Kevin Bates from Black Tie Entertainment as our wedding DJ. We had two separate planning meetings with Kevin in advance of the wedding to make sure we were all on the same page, and everything went off seamlessly on the wedding day. We largely deferred to Kevin on the music selections during the reception based on general guidelines we gave him, and he did a great job.

Black Tie was an absolute pleasure to work with for our DJ, month of wedding coordinator, and photo booth needs. Every person we interacted with operated with the highest level of professionalism and ensured we had the smoothest and best wedding day possible. DJ Mike killed it. He listened to us intently and nailed our vibe perfectly. People that never danced were on the dance floor and the majority that loved to dance were happy all night long. Coordinator Becca was also fantastic. She went above and beyond before our big day, and assisted with ironing our our timeline and final walkthrough. She had every detail covered on the big day itself and kept our day running smoothly. When you get married you do not want to have to sweat the tiniest details, and we did not have to do that because of her expertise. A stand up group all around. Thank you!

We had a great experience with Andrew Nelson from Black Tie Entertainment! When our original DJ from Black Tie had a conflict, they had Andrew ready as a replacement, and he stepped in seamlessly. He followed all of our song picks and preferred genres from the comprehensive planning portal, and he also paid attention to the vibe from our guests and kept up the energy.

Chris was amazing!! He kept the dance floor going all night long, and had the best energy. His setlist was exactly what we envisioned. He was great to work with, and didn't skip a beat when we had to switch to our rain plan day of. We've had so many guests ask for his information as he's just that good!

I had an immense pleasure working with Eddy Bobby of Black Tie Entertainment and it was no doubt the best experience you could ask for in both DJ and MC services. The way he played music and light up the room and everyone’s mood is something we appreciate so much because it’s hard to find that at weddings we have been to. Eddy has massive knowledge of the wedding industry and he knows his art well. During our meetings leading up to the wedding, I requested a scavenger hunt game for guests and despite never hosted something like that before, Eddy executed the game wonderfully with his humor and fun music. We all had so much fun watching the guests enjoy playing it. The music he played was incredible. He respect our music lists (Hiphop/ EDM) and only made it better. Our dance floor was full the ENTIRE night. I also highly recommend uplighting and dance floor lighting because it makes a huge different to the ballroom at night. Also, the communication part was so thoroughly and professionally done. He made sure to send out the timeline to all of the vendors involved and never left an email unanswered. Thank you Eddy and Black Tie Entertainment for making our day special!

Stephi was an absolute professional as our wedding DJ. Her communication was excellent, and she made us feel confident and relaxed through our pre-wedding meetings. Stephi skillfully incorporated our song requests and used her expertise to keep the dance floor lively all night. She ensured smooth transitions during our ceremony and perfectly captured the mood we wanted for our special day. With Stephi, we never had to worry about cheesy antics—just great music and a fantastic time. We highly recommend her for any wedding!

We were very happy with the service from Black Tie Entertainment for our wedding. We had our DJ, photobooth, and month-of coordinator from this vendor and they all did a fantastic job. They have an organized system and kept the whole night running smoothly. DJ Eddy kept the energy up, many of my guests said they danced the whole night!

DJ Gene Griffin was our DJ for our June 2024 wedding. We could not have asked for better service, professionalism, and kindness. The booking process was very smooth, and we had several meetings prior to the wedding to perfect every detail. Gene was absolutely amazing and we received so many compliments on his work from our guests! Gene quickly adapted to any changes needed on the spot. We are so impressed by his experience and skill. Mike Interdonato was our wedding DJ and did a fantastic job! He included what we wanted played on our day and mixed in songs that would vibe with our guests. Throughout the planning process Mike was easy to reach and talked us through some of the extras for our wedding day to see if they would enhance our experience or not. Mike does a great job of also MCing the night with things like introductions, giving our guests direction, and more. Mike would be a great pick for your wedding DJ.

We booked John as our wedding DJ, and from the very first meeting he was professional and helpful in turning our ideas into reality for our wedding. He kept the energy up during the reception and was very easy to work with. He helped us organize the reception details so everything flowed easily and kept us on track throughout the night. He even hosted a brief trivia session during the reception, which all the guests loved!

DJ Mike is the absolute BEST!! My partner knew him from his sister's wedding and events and he was the greatest to work with! He helped to give us such amazing suggestions and things to think about that we hadn't for our reception and ceremony. He was great with MCing and he worked so well with all of the other vendors! None of our vendors ever worked with each other before and the whole thing just ended up being seamless! DJ Mike can also really read the crowd and knows how to turn things up so everyone has an amazing time. We got SO many compliments about how great he was and even have some friends asking for his information, which we will definitely be sharing!! We enjoyed working with Eddy Bobby of Black Tie Entertainment for our DJ and MC needs for our wedding. Eddy fulfilled our requests exactly as we had discussed in our video calls leading up to the wedding. He has a very friendly personality and is easy to work and communicate with. Eddy’s extensive experience is evident in the way he chooses music to play at just the right time based on the mood of the crowd. We had a few must-plays, but we left most of the creativity and intuition up to him on what was most appropriate for the moment — he delivered! All our guests (and us!) had an awesome time thanks to the music coordination and selections! It’s no surprise Eddy won DC Area DJ of the Year for 2023 with Black Tie Entertainment. He is second to none!

After a great initial conversation with John we hired Tony as our MC/DJ. He was an absolute pleasure to work with as we planned the day, paid close attention to the special moments we wanted to have and made them happen day of, and kept the dance floor filled the whole night! All of our guests told us that our wedding was the most they had danced, even our more reserved friends and family couldn’t resist! We also got uplighting for them, which I was hesitant about but completely transformed our wedding space with minimal effort on our part. I highly recommend John and Tony for your wedding entertainment!

Absolutely the worst vendor to work with hands down. Rick was terrible and rude throughout the entire process. Black tie in general made everything 10x more complicated than it needed to be. I had countless meetings with Rick where if I kindly declined his suggestions (ie. I didn’t want to do an anniversary dance) he would start ignoring me and try to talk my husband into why he thought it was a great idea. He interrupted our first look trying to loudly introduce himself to my father in law who was standing nearby trying to discretely enjoy the moment and we had to politely ask him to leave as this was a private moment. One of my guests informed me that he actively rolled his eyes at me after a conversation we had during our reception. My wedding coordinator almost asked him to leave during the reception because he was being so rude to my guests. I had countless guests come up to me and tell me about an unpleasant interaction they had with Rick. Please please do not let this man hijack your wedding like he did ours

We booked Black Tie Entertainment for our wedding and Eddy was our DJ. He was great. He was communicative throughout the whole process, played the right songs at the right time, and was so friendly. While dancing, multiple guests commented on how he was crushing it. We also opted for a photobooth. Our photobooth operator was also great. He took boomerangs of us during our first and parent dances and also took pictures of the dances and turned them into photo strips for us. It was a very sweet touch we were not expecting but were happy to have.

We cannot recommend Black Tie Entertainment, specifically Matt, enough! We had the best time at our reception and that was largely due to the direction and music provided by Matt! He delivered exactly the vibe we wanted and so many people never left the dance floor! We have had so many complements about the music at our wedding! We also didn’t have any issues with people not being able to hear the ceremony or any of the speeches.

We recently booked Stephi B as our DJ and emcee through Black Tie Entertainment for our wedding reception and could not be happier with how well it went. Stephi B. was communicative throughout the planning process and provided thoughtful insight for the event. By the time the day came we had no doubt that Stephi was the right choice for our wedding and were happy to place our trust in her hands. Stephi ran the events wonderfully, she listened to and executed all our requests. She was a joy to work with and very professional. We received SO many compliments from guests about how music was played. We would absolutely recommend Black Tie and Stephi to anyone looking for a high-quality DJ for their event.

Great company for hiring a DJ. We had a preliminary conversation with a Booking Agent to determine which DJs would be a good fit for what we wanted. We opted for less interaction with guests and got a few choices to pick from. After choosing our DJ, we got to use a digital planning tool to pick our music for both ceremony and reception. This tool was great and allowed us to choose our music as early as we wanted so we weren't scrambling to figure things out right before the event. We had a few conversations with our DJ, Jason, before the event just to go over specifics and he was very polite and responsive to our requests. On the day of the event, I ended up feeling a bit lightheaded before the reception so we opted to not do our first dances prior to dinner. Jason had the great idea to make our last dance into a first dance for us, and I was very happy that my husband and I got to still share that moment together.

This review will not adequately portray how helpful John was from start to finish. As soon as we had our first meeting with him, any doubts that we had about our DJ went out the window and we were able to focus on other vendors. He was honest, responsive, genuine, and most importantly he really showed up when it mattered. He kept the dance floor packed, narrated the evening perfectly, and ensured that the bride and the groom were getting the full wedding experience. We had several guests tell us that John was the best DJ that they had seen at a wedding, and we could not agree more. Thank you for everything John and Black Tie!

I first did my discovery call with John, who handles most discovery calls to place you with the right DJ based on your personality and style. I love this because he takes time to get to know you and your style, and what kind of guests you are expecting. He thought Justin would be the best fit, and he was absolutely right. After booking, we had access to a planning portal. We could add in our timeline, our song choices, and it was very easy to go back in and make modifications. You can even link your Spotify Account with it and add songs directly from your playlists. I do feel like the one adjustment to be made to the planning portal is that it didn't seem like all songs available on Spotify were also available in their song list. However, when talking with Justin, he reassured us he would get the right versions and that was that! Planning: Justin was SUCH a breeze to work with! After our initial call with him, my husband and I looked at each other and said "holy crap he is good!" We were able to rely on him with his idea of how the flow of the day would go, gave us recommendations for music choices and how to structure the reception. When we wanted to change elements, he gave his professional opinion but always let us take the lead on how we wanted the day to go. I changed my mind probably 100 times. He never made me feel like he was frustrated. He also made recommendations based on lighting (which we ended up not needing because the lighting in the barn was great on its own), which was much appreciated. The week before, he even gave me a follow up call (which I always appreciate because I am an anxious, over planner) just to check on all the last minute song selections I had sent him, before the planning portal closed. We also added on a Selfie Booth, which was a hit with everyone! Even with no wi-fi in our reception location, everyone still got their photos and it was a great addition! The day of, Justin was absolutely seamless. Music worked perfectly, and was able to handle our outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour as well as our reception seamlessly. The morning of, I realized I had not communicated a major change to the set up for the reception, and he checked in to ask if he could make an adjustment to make the night flow better. I agreed (at that point not even having it on my radar!) and my god I'm glad we did! He is so experienced that the new set up was perfect and did not interrupt any of the reception space and made for a VERY lively reception! Everyone was dancing all night, and it had such amazing energy that we even got the catering team on the dance floor for a few songs!
