disappointed with his service. During our bridesmaid/groomsman procession during our ceremony, the wrong song was played. The song that was played was supposed to be played for the mother/son dance during the reception. And even when our coordinator told our DJ to change the song, he continued to play the wrong song. We had to stop the processional to get the correct song played. When my husband talked to the DJ after the ceremony, he told him that he knew there were two songs by the same artist on our planning sheet, and he chose the first one on his list instead of looking at his notes. Furthermore, our officiants microphone stopped working shortly after the ceremony started and guests were unable to hear the majority of the ceremony. We also had our ceremony live streamed on Zoom so our grandparents that were unable to attend could still be a part of it, and they were also not able to hear. These events were disappointing and really put a sour note to the start of our wedding. When we walked into our reception, we also realized that we did not have any of the lighting we had paid for. We were able to get a refund for that. We also got a photobooth through this DJ company. Our attendant was amazing, but we had no idea that no one was going over to use it because there were some technical difficulties with getting the booth started. We heard from a bridesmaid at 9:15PM that he was going to close at 9:30, well before our reception ended at 11. Our DJ made an announcement to our guests and they didn't even know the photobooth was there. The attendant stayed a few minutes later than he should have, thankfully! Lastly, our DJ messed up on some small, yet important details. Bill allowed my husband's extended family to do karaoke, and they didn't ask for the microphones to do that. He also did not calm down our guests during our Matron of Honor and Best Man's speeches, and the microphones did not work well. And he completely messed up our last song. We initially thought that our last song was going to be a private last dance, but he played it for everyone. While this was a bit of a happy accident since we enjoyed that moment with our guests, it was not what we expected. Then, when we thought that our guests were going to go outside for our sparkler exit, our DJ announced that our last song wasn't actually the last song and proceeded to play another song (which also turned into karaoke again). This is not what we discussed on our phone call with the owner and we were upset while our guests were on the dancefloor. When my husband went to talk to the DJ again about the mess ups, our DJ said that my father-in-law requested the song. While we didn't mind our DJ taking and playing requests, we specifically asked for a specific song to be our last song. On a positive note, our DJ apologized for his mistakes and our dancefloor was never empty all night. We were able to get a refund for the lighting and were compensated for the mishaps. However, I wanted to be honest in my review. Make sure you triple check during your planning call that everything is how you want it.

DJ and he did a perfect job of keeping track of our requests for special songs/announcements (ceremony and reception), as well as keeping the dance floor full for the reception. He had an involved, positive, and professional presence throughout the day. The volume, flow, and song choices were perfect. Thank you!!

We gave him a playlist but also freedom to mix it up, and he did just that. He played songs from our playlist, while also adding in songs he though fit the vibe of the crowd and everyone loved it. Our favorite part of Alex is how well he communicated throughout the night, and made sure we stuck to our schedule and timeline. He was there early to set up for our outside ceremony, had the music ready in the cocktail hour space, and a great set up in our reception room. We also thought the pricing was very good compared to other DJ companies we talked with. Would highly recommend Black Tie Events and Alex as a DJ.

He did a fantastic job of getting people on the dance floor (which isn't easy for a dry daytime wedding in January). And right before our sendoff, after everyone else had left the ballroom, he gave my husband and I time to have one more slow dance all to ourselves. A wonderful day was made better by having BTE as our DJ.

Also, Black Tie Events has a music app that really helped us search and categorize 95% of our wedding songs by ceremony, reception, cake cutting, etc. which was a huge convenience as we were able to sample and favorite a wide range of songs for each part of the wedding. Great experience!

At the very last minute (due to COVID), we decided to move everything except the dinner outside for our wedding! This meant we'd need a second DJ and set up, and Rich made it happen! He brought DJ Courtney, who killed it for our dance floor and moments like the garter and bouquet toss! He even surprised me by having all of the men who attended the wedding sing "Don't Stop Believing" to me. It was a moment I'll never forget! Although we had a little mishap where we had to turn down our music, he still listened and tried to make sure we were happy. We worked directly with him to choose out our music and develop the schedule of events. There were extra things we wanted to do, such as the Money Dance and the Shoe Game, which Rich was more than happy to accommodate. He arrived on time for our wedding and surprised us by setting up lights that matched the color of our wedding to light up his booth. Overall, he was a great DJ and I would use him again if the chance arose.
