0 stars. I rented a room here for night prior and wedding night. So we had a space to get ready on wedding day close to chapel that wasnt the resort. You're probably seeing a theme...
at this point but i love old buildings so this was an easy choice for me back before Christmas, 2024. Nearly a year before checkin. At that time i informed them of my intention to get ready for my wedding there and to spend my wedding night. 48 hours before check in i got an email informing me of another wedding taking place during my stay. Rehersal friday, wedding Saturday. I promptly responded asking to know what impact that would have on my reservation. They informed me of none. My MOH and i checked in on friday. We made friends over the pool table w the other bride and groom and their bridal party. Their MOH borrowed our corkskrew Saturday morning after my other 2 bridesmaids arrived. We were cool. It was really cold and rainy on Saturday. I was waiting for my step mom to arrive with my dad so she could zip me up and place my veil. Once that was done i was gonna walk down their stair well to my dad, get a picture with everyone on the porch and head to the chapel with my father in a wedding brigade that included 1 set of parents, 2 grandmas, 1 grandpa, 3 bridal party. Well. Before i could get my dress on, my ladies and photographer take turns running into my room informing me that i am not allowed to take a single photo on the entire premise and that all 'unregistered' guests have been asked to leave. I hurry, get zipped up, put my veil on crooked and make 2 calls to the phone number they used to contact me week prior to correct payment info. I left one message requesting a call back and borrowed my photographers calm while my SIL was getting yelled at to the point she had to protect herself from hotel event planner by putting her hands up, i was left at the hotel!! Thank god my photographer was able to bring me to my wedding. I never got a call back, and the drama that hotel staff caused while i was upstairs was literally the only thing anyone was talking about at my wedding. I got everyones side of the story while i was waiting for some sort of contact from someone, i finally called them 10/30. Left another message, but got a call back! They did not take any blame at all for the unprofessionalism, hostility (Not to be confused with HOSPITALITY, the industry they are in!) and sheer chaos they caused for me on my wedding day, without even including me! My 67 yr old father said my SIL started out sounding like a mouse begging the event staff to stop yelling at her. My dad thought i was going to have to jump out of the room window to get out of there because of how heated the situation became, he didnt know if they were going to let me walk down the stairs to leave! I was scared to come back after the wedding. I didnt leave anything in the room during wedding due to fear of retribution about a situation i wasnt involved with at all. We woke up after 3 hours of trying to sleep and left because i was so afraid of what could happen because i didnt know who to avoid who worked there. My husband would have let them know how he felt about them making me cry and stealing my first look with my dad and i had already heard about it (from EVERYONE) since we left the afternoon before! I guess every wedding has some drama, the blackwell staff caused ours. Maybe if an adult from the establishment i reserved could have communicated with me, it could have been different.
The Blackwell hotel and its staff were above and beyond what I expected for our wedding venue. We decided we would rent out all the hotel rooms for the whole weekend for the bridal...
party to stay in which was an amazing decision. Abby the hotel and wedding coordinator did a great job helping refine all the details and made sure our special day was perfect.
The Blackwell was too small to be the venue for my wedding, but it is GORGEOUS, and several members of my wedding party stayed there because of its convenient location. They loved...
every minute of it! The manager was incredibly gracious and catered to their every need. It was a beautiful and fun place to hang out in between wedding events! I definitely want to stay there next time I'm in town.
We rented the entire house for the whole wedding weekend. It was AMAZING! It was so nice to have our friends and family stay there to help out with pre-wedding details and to hel...
p set up on wedding day. The house is absolutely charming and SO beautiful. Liz was a HUGE help all weekend and our go to person when we had any questions. Everything about this venue was fantastic! I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to have an urban, yet garden feel wedding that is so close to everything downtown.
