Bliss Boutique and Bridal

. On the day of my appointment, my mother and I arrived to find the store empty and were not acknowledged for quite some time. When someone finally came to greet us and start the appointment, were then informed that Robin had left early to attend a Mardi Gras parade instead and were asked if I wanted to reschedule. Since I had driven an hour for the appointment, I chose to continue. Having scheduled my appointment weeks in advance and traveled an hour to be there, I left that interaction feeling like my appointment had not been prioritized. One of my main concerns was the guidance I received while shopping. I expressed hesitation about choosing a strapless gown because I was worried it would slip down and that I would spend my wedding day pulling it up. I was repeatedly assured that I would not have any support issues and that the gown would stay in place. I was also encouraged to try on any dress, including gowns from the plus-size line, and told that size "didn't matter because it would only look better once it was taken in." The gown I ultimately purchased was from that plus-size line, and the sample I tried on was approximately four sizes larger than my measurements. I later learned from my seamstress that this was poor advice, as wedding gowns are designed with specific proportions in mind and cannot always be altered to fit a different body type without compromising the fit. Based on the guidance I received, I purchased a gown that ultimately never fit properly. Despite multiple rounds of alterations, it continued to slip throughout my wedding day—the very concern I had raised during my consultation. When the dress arrived, it was still one to two sizes too large and did not fit as expected. I was told that I must have lost weight, because they ordered the right size. When I got home, I also discovered a tear in the bottom of the gown. Since I was already planning to have it hemmed, and based on how I felt like every concern I had was being dismissed by the staff, I chose not to return to the shop. When I brought the dress to my seamstress for alterations, she was surprised by both the size discrepancy and the tear in the fabric. After my bridal portraits, it required additional adjustments, and even on my wedding day the bodice continued to slip and shift, causing it to sit too low and appear bunched and wrinkled in many of my photos. We could not alter the dress enough to make up for the poor fit and quality of the dress. I would definitely recommend avoiding this shop.
