Blooming Quill Calligraphy

Debi is such a gem to work with. We were connected with her via our invitation company, Bella Figura, for whom she does some work. We wanted to have our guests’ outer envelopes calligraphed to add a personal touch. We had reached out of other calligraphers in New York for quotes and they were starting at at least $6 per envelope. When Bella Figura told us that Debi, whose calligraphy was appearing on our invitations via our names and the name of our venue, would potentially be able to do them, we immediately reached out. Debi told us she charged $4 per envelope and didn’t upcharge for gold ink or extra lines for those addresses that had apartment numbers, etc. She was incredibly fairly priced and also didn’t require a deposit. We simply had the envelopes sent to her, gave her a formatted spreadsheet of guests’ addresses and she worked her magic. The calligraphy was elegant and beautiful, but not too formal, which is what we wanted. She shipped them from her home in Wisconsin and they arrived quickly and very carefully wrapped. Of course, we double checked her work and there was only one couple in the batch of 85 invitations that needed to be redone, but she was quick to correct and resend it at no extra charge. Additionally, as we got some invitations returned in the mail from guests who’d moved and we were unaware, we had Debi redo some envelopes and she did them quickly for a small fee. We were so pleased with Debi’s handiwork, we asked her to do the calligraphy for our escort cards for the wedding day itself. They posed a bit of a challenge because they were flags with toothpicks that’d be going into succulents. Debi was enthusiastic about them and excited to take on the challenge. They really came out great, but unfortunately, we cut things a little close and one flag had an error. It was too late for Debi to send us another one, but she wanted to do everything she could. She mailed us a partial refund back for the inconvenience and also hand-engraved us a beautiful Christmas ornament as a thank you. Debi is fantastic to work with and her calligraphy is gorgeous. We highly recommend working with her, just be sure to build in time to send back/resend anything that needs fixing. After all, she’s human.

Debi's work is beautiful! She addressed our wedding invitation envelopes. We got so many compliments on the invitations; a few people even saved them and asked for her contact information! She is also very quick - she turned around 200 invites in 3 days. She was also wonderful to work with; so kind, responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

Debi at Blooming Quill does beautiful work. I received many compliments from guests about how gorgeous my invitations and place cards looked! It is expensive, but worth it!
