Flowers and horticulture are a second career for me. Working in a high stress environment, landscaping a new home was a great way to relax. This interest led to courses at a community college and a BS in Horticulture from Virginia Tech.
Blooming Spaces began as a landscape company. We grew our own flowers for a Farm Market. One day a landscape customer asked me to design flowers for a friend's wedding. That was 16 years ago. Since then I have worked with hundreds of area brides. I am personally invested in providing the best service possible because there is only one chance to get it right

Kathleen did such a great job with our flowers! She was very helpful when we were deciding what we wanted and when we gave her our budget she did a great job helping us stay in it. The flowers were beautiful and I loved the way she put the colors together. Could not have asked for a better florist!

Wonderful!! Money well spent. Kathleen was on top of everything from the start and made the process so easy. I gave her very little guidance (probably too little, sorry!!!) and she ran with it. Our flowers were STUNNING and perfect in every way. ❤️❤️❤️

Kathleen was very understanding our our wedding floral needs and the flower arrangements went above our expectations. They were extremely beautiful and of a high quality. My only regret is that I had to work through Garnished Events to order and deliver the flowers. I wish I had gone through Blooming Spaces directly.

We were very happy with the job Kathleen at Blooming Spaces did for our daughter's wedding. Kathleen was very accommodating, patient and understanding. My daughter had a color scheme for the wedding but did not have an idea of the types of flowers or arrangements she wanted. Kathleen gave her good advice on flowers and presented beautiful arrangements for the church and reception. The bridal party bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages were absolutely lovely. Kathleen gave additional wonderful advice on pew decorations that elevated the wedding appearance in the church. Kathleen followed all of my daughter's specific instructions for decoration set-up at 2 venues. She fulfilled my daughter's vision for her wedding day. We were so pleased and delighted with the outcome of Kathleen's work. Her prices for the beautiful flowers and all her effort to deliver, transfer and arrange at 2 locations were very reasonable and so helpful for us. We highly recommend Kathleen at Blooming Spaces for any special occasion.

The flowers for my son's wedding were absolutely perfect! The looked and smelled beautiful. Kathleen offered ideas when we met to plan the flowers and she delivered just what we were hoping for! We received many compliments from our guests. I highly recommend Blooming Spaces for your event.

Kathleen at Blooming Spaces was so helpful with all our wedding florals. Florals was the aspect of wedding planning I knew the least about ahead of time so I especially appreciated her willingness to explain and talk me through things. She never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question - which I can't say for all of the florists I spoke with. She was communicative and provided detailed estimates, arrived on time for delivery on the day and the florals all looked great! She also offers very competitive rates for the area.

I can’t say enough about Kathleen and Blooming Spaces!! I really wanted my flowers to be a focal point of my wedding and Kathleen did not disappoint. She listened to my vision, walked me through the steps and made my vision come to life. I loved my bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets, and the flowers for my centerpieces! All of this and I was able to stay within my flower budget. Highly recommend blooming spaces.

Kathleen was so lovely to work with. I wasn't sure what to expect, but flowers and greens were the thing about the wedding I was most excited about. I was blown away by how much I LOVED the roses she chose... they were so stunning. Everything was reasonably priced and she was very responsive. She definitely gave me great opinions as well!

I can not say enough wonderful things about Blooming Spaces and our wedding flowers this weekend. Kathleen was a joy to work with over the past couple of months, and she took all of our many, many changes and made something truly beautiful for our big day. Not only had we found Kathleen after our original florist was unable to complete the job and she was ready and willing to work with us, but she also dealt with all of the uncertainty surrounding our wedding due to covid. She listened to what I wanted, and even though I didn't have a real vision or any knowledge of flowers, she somehow surpassed all of my expectations.

We cannot thank Blooming Spaces enough for the gorgeous flowers on our wedding day! We loved working with Kathleen - she made it so easy to choose flowers, making suggestions based on pictures we brought to her, and creating our vision! We had been looking for a florist for a few weeks when we came across Blooming Spaces, and had reached out to Kathleen for more information. She immediately set up an in-person meeting at her shop, where we got together to discuss all of the possibilities for bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, center pieces, church flowers, etc., and it was so nice to hear from someone who knew how to put together what we wanted. Kathleen was also super flexible throughout our wedding planning - we cannot remember how many times we emailed her asking to add or change flowers based on new things coming up. She gladly made the changes, sending us revised contracts each time, allowing us to continue to make changes pretty much right up until the wedding. Kathleen even went to our church to test out pew clips for the pew flowers we wanted!! Kathleen was a dream to work with and we would highly recommend using Blooming Spaces. We cannot thank Kathleen enough for making our day perfect!

I was very happy with this florist. She made my bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets exactly how I described my vision to her. I was so happy with the results when I walked into the bridal suite at the venue and saw them all placed in nice little containers with the names of each bridesmaid on them. The venue flowers we gorgeous and the centerpieces were as simple and subtle as I had asked for. She was responsive and helpful throughout the entire process of planning.

As an out of town bride, I had to make some decisions quickly because I was only in town for a few long weekends to plan. This was one decision I seriously regretted. Having not ever planned a wedding before, I would have appreciated some guidance from the florist who does this work for a living; however, her rough and gruff manner did not welcome any questions. In fact when I tried to email clarifying questions, the responses I received were defensive, blaming and argumentative. As a result I dramatically decreased my order, not feeling like I could trust her or her vision at all (and we had already placed a hefty security deposit). What we ended up getting on the day of was fine - although DEFINITELY not worth what we paid or had originally discussed. At that point I was just determined to not be affected by her disgruntled energy and and save the complaints that our $200 "large" floral arrangements were all of 10" tall for her reviews. Disappointing but did not ruin the wedding.

This is a wonderful small business based in Sterling. Ms. Bloom did a beautiful job with my flowers and the bridesmaids. Her prices were the MOST competitive and her finished product was THE BEST! I loved her, I loved her work, and I would refer her to everyone!

Kathleen was great to work with. I didn't have a lot to spend on flowers but still wanted beautiful decorations and centerpieces. When writing up the contract she gave me 3 different options with 3 different price points which was nice so I could pick and choose.She did the flowers for the ceremony, reception, cake flowers, bouquets, and boutonnieres. All of the flowers looked amazing the only problems were with the bouquets and boutonnieres. Shortly after she dropped off the bouqets my all white bouqet started to turn brown. We quickly put it in water but we had a long day ahead of us of pictures before the ceremony even began. It held up ok but was still slightly brown for most of the day. The grooms boutonniere completely broke, the rose broke off it's stem before we even left the hotel. He had to get 5 pins to keep it on him during the pictures and ceremony. The cake flowers looked beautiful but I had wanted all blue hydrangeas the ones we got had a greenish tint to them as well as blue.
