Flowers and horticulture are a second career for me. Working in a high stress environment, landscaping a new home was a great way to relax. This interest led to courses at a community college and a BS in Horticulture from Virginia Tech. Blooming Spaces began as a landscape company. We grew our own flowers for a Farm Market. One day a landscape customer asked me to design flowers for a friend's wedding. That was 16 years ago. Since then I have worked with hundreds of area brides. I am personally invested in providing the best service possible because there is only one chance to get it right

Kathleen gave her good advice on flowers and presented beautiful arrangements for the church and reception. The bridal party bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages were absolutely lovely. Kathleen gave additional wonderful advice on pew decorations that elevated the wedding appearance in the church. Kathleen followed all of my daughter's specific instructions for decoration set-up at 2 venues. She fulfilled my daughter's vision for her wedding day. We were so pleased and delighted with the outcome of Kathleen's work. Her prices for the beautiful flowers and all her effort to deliver, transfer and arrange at 2 locations were very reasonable and so helpful for us. Not only had we found Kathleen after our original florist was unable to complete the job and she was ready and willing to work with us, but she also dealt with all of the uncertainty surrounding our wedding due to covid. on pictures we brought to her, and creating our vision! We had been looking for a florist for a few weeks when we came across Blooming Spaces, and had reached out to Kathleen for more information. She immediately set up an in-person meeting at her shop, where we got together to discuss all of the possibilities for bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, center pieces, church flowers, etc., and it was so nice to hear from someone who knew how to put together what we wanted. Kathleen was also super flexible throughout our wedding planning - we cannot remember how many times we emailed her asking to add or change flowers based on new things coming up. She gladly made the changes, sending us revised contracts each time, allowing us to continue to make changes pretty much right up until the wedding. Kathleen even went to our church to test out pew clips for the pew flowers we wanted!! Kathleen was a dream to work with and we would highly recommend using Blooming Spaces. We cannot thank Kathleen enough for making our day perfect!

er planned a wedding before, I would have appreciated some guidance from the florist who does this work for a living; however, her rough and gruff manner did not welcome any questions. In fact when I tried to email clarifying questions, the responses I received were defensive, blaming and argumentative. As a result I dramatically decreased my order, not feeling like I could trust her or her vision at all (and we had already placed a hefty security deposit). What we ended up getting on the day of was fine - although DEFINITELY not worth what we paid or had originally discussed. At that point I was just determined to not be affected by her disgruntled energy and and save the complaints that our $200 "large" floral arrangements were all of 10" tall for her reviews. Disappointing but did not ruin the wedding.

nt options with 3 different price points which was nice so I could pick and choose.She did the flowers for the ceremony, reception, cake flowers, bouquets, and boutonnieres. All of the flowers looked amazing the only problems were with the bouquets and boutonnieres. Shortly after she dropped off the bouqets my all white bouqet started to turn brown. We quickly put it in water but we had a long day ahead of us of pictures before the ceremony even began. It held up ok but was still slightly brown for most of the day. The grooms boutonniere completely broke, the rose broke off it's stem before we even left the hotel. He had to get 5 pins to keep it on him during the pictures and ceremony. The cake flowers looked beautiful but I had wanted all blue hydrangeas the ones we got had a greenish tint to them as well as blue.
