ted, and think it’s only right that I make others aware of the bad service I received. Blue Steel (Michelle, the owner) cancelled on me literally 48 hrs before my wedding! Just the day prior they sent me an email stating how excited they were for our wedding. So I don’t understand what changed so quickly to make them do a 360 degree turn. I believe that if a vendor does not want to work for a client, then that vendor should not accept payment from that client, nor enter into a contractual agreement. They knew beforehand all of our wedding details, which was not anything complicated and included only a couple of light changes. I’ve treated Blue Steel with nothing but respect. In my opinion, it is repulsive and heartless to cancel on a bride so last minute . On top of that, they brushed it off making it seem like it would be so easy to find another credible vendor so last minute. I was completely floored by them cancelling on us, and I implore anyone reading this review to take my experience with Blue Steel Lighting into serious consideration.

They were very flexible with an outdoor wedding and gave us the option to add additional items up to the day before the wedding; that is not typical in this industry, as we learned. The owner, Michelle, a former wedding planner, brings a wealth of knowledge about the overall process and knows what goes in to planning a large event. There photos of their equipment were helpful as we browsed and chose the lights to make our big day perfect. Also, Michelle’s husband helped us work out some logistics with our band and their power requirements. At an old venue, this could be an issue if you don’t have the personal touch that Blue Steel gave us. The owners took the time to meet with us personally, which shows their commitment to their business. Finally, Kaci, one of Michelle’s assistants was super helpful in fulfilling everything they promised us. We have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about this company and would recommend to anyone looking for a lighting company for a wedding or event.

er I think the end result of the lighting we chose was very simple and made everything look elegant. It took us awhile to all get on the same page but once we did everything was very easy, they took care of the rest and our wedding looked beautiful.

vendors. Blue Steel came up in every single one of the weddings I looked at and in particular for the weddings I liked! So I immediately contacted them even before I had my planner as I wanted to get on their books - thank goodness I did! I got married in a ballroom as a practical matter (more convenient for elderly guests) but really wanted the ballroom transformed as I wasn't a big fan of the carpet and walls. Blue Steel literally made it into a completely different room with their lighting and design. It was incredible!! Also I had a garden theme I wanted brought to life and Blue Steel not only did lighting but helps engineer the overall design including a whole dance floor structure, bringing in all sorts of trees and shrubbery and hanging lanterns from the ceiling to create an intimate atmosphere that was also grand and elegant. It was amazing and made the reception absolutely perfect. Thank you, Blue Steel!!

nt all day setting up. They were meticulously detail oriented and took their time ensuring that everything was correct and to my liking. They were so easy to work with and truly transformed the backyard and the tent into the "midsummer's night dream" that I had envisioned. They stayed during the entire wedding to monitor and tweak the lighting as needed and really made sure everything was perfect. I can't thank them enough--they really made my vision come to life and far exceeded my expectations.

custom designed event, these are your guys. From the initial beginning, we really threw some ideas at Jeremy and Caitlyn and they literally took "Cinderella gets lost in the woods" and made it a Magical Woodland Fairytale. One huge thing that needs to be discussed was the custom pieces they created. When it came to drapery in the Reception Tent, I looked at all photos for inspiration and couldn't fall in love with any of it. Jeremy stepped in, he said "I think I may have an idea" and he came back with a few concept drawings. From those, he got more and more inspired and what came out was the most beautiful thing you've NEVER seen. He created custom wood pieces hanging from the ceiling, with chandeliers hanging from them. Another thing I threw at them was to hide the tent poles on the ceiling. Thinking he'd do some drapery, his solution was something completely unexpected, but incredibly awesome. It was long pillars of wood with scrolls on the end, i mean pretty much indescribable. Jeremy was so excited to show them, but worried they'd be over the top, however knowing I wanted something unique he took a chance, and boy did it pay off big time. They made a wall of foliage and drapery to hide the trailer port-a-johns, beautiful vintage lamps hanging from the side of the tents, custom stage sidings, custom bars with a tv slideshow and so much more. They also were able to convert everything from outdoor locations to a rain plan tent with only a day to figure it out, and made it beautiful at that! Even at night, the whole place shifted in lighting to an amazing Gala type party with luxurious blues, a Edison bulb lit fire-pit area, and a up-lit lined driveway. Ultimately when you hire these guys, let them do their job. Let them come up with something amazing for you that will stand out from anyone else's wedding, and you won't be disappointed. t I had bartended and when I got engaged I knew he would be our DJ. He is professional and fun all in one! He knows how to get people up and moving, he engaged the crowd, and he plays EXACTLY what you do or do not want. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ.

our wedding venue space. The owner Jeremy & his wife Michelle are so nice and can really take your ideas and make them a reality. The pin lights really make the centerpieces and cake standout and look even more amazing. The personalized monogram light on the dance floor is such a nice touch. We even had snowflake lights in our lounge area that really made it a winter wonderland. And the uplighting really transforms the space - we had our ceremony and reception at the same place, but it was, literally, day and night with the way things looked! The combination of the lights and a custom designed pipe/draping helped us to make the spaces look completely different. Blue Steel went above and beyond to help us design this space and make it exactly what we were hoping for! Additionally, their on-site person helped our wedding planner hang things from the ceiling which was a huge help! The lighting was beautiful throughout the night and changed appropriately for the different aspects of the wedding (ie. dinner, first dance, cake cutting, dancing). It really made the pictures amazing, too! Blue Steel gives you excellent, friendly service, tons of experience and options, and the biggest bang-for-your-buck you can get in wedding decor. We highly recommend that you book with them!

d Jeremy, Rachael, and Rich were all on board to bring that vision to life. Unlike many other, perhaps "cheaper" lighting companies, the colored uplighting never looked tacky; it gave the room a modern element and warmth that was appreciated in person and in the photos. I liked how the lighting changed according to the various events of the evening (cocktail hour, dinner service, first dance, speeches, etc). Coupled with the music selection, the change in lighting gave our guests a different vibe to continuously experience throughout the night. Rich and the technicians did a great job onsite as well as coordinating the details before our big day! Many of our guests have been to the restaurant many times, but expressed that they never saw it decorated like an American venue. Pin spots (though I know it can add up) are worth every penny to highlight the key decor elements/arrangements in the room. Though Richmond was a bit far, I really appreciated Rachael making a trip up to DC/Arlington area to see our venue; BSL also participate in a lot of the Nova/DC bridal shows, so it's adventageous to check them out there! Thank you so much again for truly bringing my wedding vision to life - I could not be more pleased with the end product and your team's service and professionalism!!

The lighting switched between teal and coral (our wedding colors) throughout the reception, and when the party really got going on the dance floor, the uplighting switched to a multi-colored party theme. Rachel was extremely easy to work with and took me in their studio where she gave me a sample of their lighting techniques on my initial consult. Great, reliable, company that really made the atmosphere of our wedding a really grand affair.

I received so many compliments about how the lighting truly made the room looks incredibly special. I would recommend Blue Steel to EVERYONE. They are so great at what they do, and Rachel, who I communicated with by phone and over email, was such a doll. She was always sweet, upbeat, and on top of her game. Thank you, Blue Steel!

n Norfolk, VA at a historic home with a fuse box straight out of well the 18th century I imagine. Jeremy, Rachel and their wonderful crew lit the tent beautifully, added a light perimeter (so guests didn't take a dip in the water) and kept our catering staff powered. Jeremy is very passionate about his work and a doll to work with while Rachel took care of everything like the challenges of working on an historic site outside in November. They are great people to work with and if you are really nice to Jeremy he will show you how he lit Dubai and the city of Norfolk in one day! :) Plus his wife, Michelle is an amazing wedding planner if you are in need!

He sees things that I am not sure anyone else can! He takes events...and kicks them up a notch! His staff is super easy to work with, and super friendly. Jeremy is crazy laid back and accomodating...you can't ask for much more when you are a stressed out bride.
