Blue Wave Band

We hired a 7 piece band from Blue Wave Band for our 2024 wedding. They were excellent! Everything from the demo night at Sea Monster, to the pre-wedding planning via their website and dashboard, to the performance on the day of our wedding--all of it was easy and fun. We would book them again in a heartbeat!

We hired Blue Wave Band for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and they knocked it out of the park!! David was great to work with during our planning process and answered all of our questions and always responded in a timely manner. Nate was our MC and was the absolute best! The band kept everyone on the dance floor until our reception ended. We had high expectations after seeing the showcase and they exceeded them!! Couldn’t recommend Blue Wave Band more.

Blue Wave was great for our 80 person wedding at CDA resort! They were very responsive before the event and were happy to move the schedule around to meet our needs. Music night of was fantastic and kept the guests dancing all night long!

The Blue Wave Band was perfect for our occasion (YWCA celebrates Snohomish County!). They arrived and set up on time, followed direction well, and their playing and song choices were wonderful! Definitely made our event more festive and enjoyable.

For my wedding, I’ve always dreamt of having a live band. I was ecstatic when I found Blue Wave. They seemed to be everything I wanted. Tight musicians and a good sound— and getting everyone to boogie! My wedding was no exception. I got so many compliments on the band and they definitely kept the party rocking. Unfortunately, my three star review comes from a terrible experience working with Marc. As instructed, I filled out the planning page well before our wedding date. But it seemed Marc had never gotten around to reading it, or didn’t read it very well. Despite spelling out me and my new husband’s last name phonetically and letting him know the correct pronunciation over the phone, he still managed to pronounce our last name incorrectly during our grand entrance. Our first dance song was listed on Blue Wave’s website as a song they know. However, during our final phone call, Marc informed me that the band didn’t know our actual first dance song and I had to relinquish the last song I had chosen. As a bride who had chosen her songs very carefully and intentionally for her wedding day, I was a bit sad but I asked Marc if they could play a specific song that me and my girls made memories together at my bachelorette party and he said he would make a note. The last song came and went but the song that I had requested (that the band already knew) wasn’t played. I went up to Marc and asked him “hey, you promised me this song and it wasn’t played.” Instead of apologizing, he went “well that was our last song and our time is up.” I left my wedding with a very bitter taste in my mouth. Truly not the way I pictured my otherwise perfect event to end. I understand noise laws but even a simple apology would have sufficed. If you don’t care about music and just want your family and friends to enjoy live music at your wedding by all means book Blue Wave. However, if you even want a tiny sliver of creative control, look elsewhere. After attempts to call BWB and smooth things over, I never got a response (I wasn’t even looking for a refund just an apology) which leaves me no choice to dock some stars. Truly not the way to do business!

Wow. If you want a fun party, if you want good music, if you want everyone dripping sweat from dancing so hard, then Blue Wave Band is the wedding band for you! We were able to send David a playlist of songs we wanted to hear the band play, and they absolutely nailed them. The singers belted it out, the guitar solos were phenomenal, the saxophone saxxed, and they all sounded great. We had an 8 piece band (with a trumpet and a saxophone) and we would highly recommend a band that big, such a full sound. Any songs that the band didn’t play were played from speakers and so we just kept dancing all night long. They also did a really good job of MCing, telling people when things were happening and where they needed to be. I can’t say that I’ve heard the other wedding bands in the Seattle area, but I can’t imagine any of them being better than Blue Wave Band. David even helped us pull off a surprise for the groom that was thought of about 2 weeks before our wedding. The band had no trouble changing up plans and was so easy to work with. Everyone was on the dance floor all night long and our guests have told us how much they loved Blue Wave Band! Blue Wave Band thank you for making our night perfect and our music magical. We have so many wonderful memories with our families and friends thanks to you!

Blue Wave performed at our wedding and it could not have been more perfect. From start to finish, it was everything we dreamed of. Everyone had the best time dancing all thanks to the incredible band. Could not recommend more!

We had the Blue Wave Band play at our July 2023 wedding, and it was honestly one of our favorite parts of the day! They brought so much energy and were great at reading the room. They really seemed to know how to get everybody dancing! They were also super easy to work with in the months leading up to our wedding and were able to play a couple of songs we specially requested. All in all, we loved the Blue Wave Band and are so happy we had them play at our big day!

Absolutely flawless is the best way to describe the Blue Wave Band’s 3 piece instrumental group we hired to perform at the ceremony and cocktail hour. The musicians were perfect in every way from the time of arrival through the event and departure. “Nailed it” pretty much sums up the event from playing on cue, the processional, entrance and recessional songs. They went above and beyond to ensure our daughter, the bride, could walk down the aisle to a unique song called, One Summer’s Day from Spirited Away. It meant so much to her, the groom and our family. Thanks for making this day extra special.

Incredible band. They played classical for our octet, the processional/recessionary, the jazzy cocktail hour, the entire dinner & dance party, and best of all, they accompanied my new bride in singing me a surprise-toast! Extremely pleased with BWB!!

We had Blue Wave for our May 2023 wedding and could not recommend them more highly. RL was very communicative leading up to the wedding and the band was a huge hit!! They were very high energy and kept the dance floor going all night long. We would absolutely book them again!!!

They were worth every penny! Our guests were very shy the beginning of the night, but the band was very engaged and many guests raved about the band. Our beginning sets were more slower songs with it being like cocktails hour, but they slowly went to upbeat music as they night moved forward. I appreciated how they combined more modern songs with the classics and made the crowd feel very comfortable. The band manager was very professional and had very fast responses to emails and enquiries. All in all, a great night!

Super professional, right from booking, leading us through what they needed for the night etc. And everyone - including us - loved them! They also provided fantastic MCing, and lined up our entrance/ exit music etc. perfectly. Definitely worth the money and contributed to a fantastic night!

Blue Wave Band was absolutely incredible at our wedding! They brought a very talented troupe to perform, and were great value for the wonderful performances they put on. We hired Blue Wave for the ceremony music, cocktail hour, and the reception - they executed flawlessly and so many of our guests shared how great they were. During the reception, they kept the crowd energized and many of us danced until we had to leave, and we could tell they were having a great time performing for all of us too. We requested a few specific songs for our processional and recessional, and for our first dance - we really appreciated them being so flexible to our (somewhat obscure) song requests, and they did an amazing job for all of them. During planning, they were very communicative and wonderful to work with - they were always quick to respond to the many questions we had, and were willing to discuss and provide feedback when we weren't certain on some of our details. We'd love to work with them again and recommend them for anyone planning a party in the Pacific Northwest!

We used a string trio from Blue Wave Band at our wedding on October 1st, 2022. The trio was fantastic and played all of the songs we requested beautifully. We found the coordinator to be a great communicator, highly organized, and an overall effective system.

The Blue Wave Band shaped the second half of our wedding celebration, and made it an absolute party. We had such a blast dancing and singing on the dance floor along to all of our favorite songs. The band is so much more than your typical wedding band. Both the instrumentalists (especially the saxophonist) and the vocalists absolutely crushed it. I would hire the band again in an instant!

We had a wonderful experience working with the Blue Wave Band from start to finish! Leading up to our big day, they helped guide us every step of the way to curate and create the exact vibe we were going for, and I felt so confident that they understood what we wanted. We started with a string quartet for the ceremony and we were able to proceed into the ceremony to some of our favorite songs played on the string instruments. They played great music for the cocktail hour and dinner, and played our requested songs for our first dances. Then it was time for them to shine during dancing. The dance party was absolutely epic and we had the best time ever. They struck the perfect balance between playing the classics and more recent hits. They also did a great job MCing throughout the evening and that made for a smooth run of show from beginning to end. Thank you Blue Wave Band!

Best decision we made for the whole day, and it was a magical day! This team was communicative and easy to work with from day one. The reason we decided on a band was to create an atmosphere for all of the generations attending, and I am not exaggerating when I say that the dance floor was PACKED from start to finish! They did an amazing job engaging our guests, not one song had people wandering. We smiled ear to ear and danced our faces off! Thank you BW Band for playing out in the random woods and contributing to such a magical fairyland day for us all!

Book Blue Wave Band and thank me later. We had an exceptional experience. Their process prior to our wedding was easy and seamless. And they killed it at our reception as well as our cocktail hour. All of our guests keep telling us how great the band was and the setlist they played was so fun!

Our wedding day would not have been the same without hiring the Blue Wave Band! Their ability to understand the energy of the dance floor as well as MC the day was truly awesome. I never had to worry about what was happening next as the bride because the MC was so on top of it. The Blue Wave Band is there from the start to help plan your event. Their planning portal is so organized and one reason, outside of just having such a fun team, that I think our wedding ran so smooth. We cannot thank them enough! Our guests were so impressed with the versatility of the band and the songs they played. They made such a positive impact on our day!!

We worked with the Blue Wave Band during a wedding when our entire island lost power, and the whole team went above and beyond to ensure the couple and their guests still had an amazing time! From hauling over the venue's grand piano to some a cappella singing and drum solos, they kept the energy and mood upbeat until we were able to bring in a generator. They are the ultimate professionals and team players! Thank you BWB!

To summarize: While the musicians were generally great, Blue Wave Band did mess up nearly everything we asked them to do at our wedding. If you have any specific requests or visions for your wedding music, we strongly suggest finding another band (especially for the cost). When looking for a wedding band, BWB seemed awesome, and the reviews online were nearly perfect. They have a relatively high-tech website and our point of contact, David, was more-or-less responsive. We were spending a lot of money on them (more than any other vendor) but we were ok with that because the music was really important to us, and they are a "premium" band. - For the ceremony: the string quartet that BWB provided played all three songs incorrectly; BWB provided a mic stand with a boom arm extension, which is obstructive for a wedding ceremony because it sticks out far forward (it interrupted our ‘I Do’s’); BWB put the mic stand in front of the altar and not on the altar, so our officiant had to move it up to the altar herself live, and it ended up being off-centered as a result - For cocktail hour: we walked out to join 30 min after cocktail hour began and didn’t see any of the horns that we requested - For the reception: we gave them clear instructions that they were to begin playing immediately after the speeches ended, but when the speeches ended at 8:55PM, the band was nowhere to be found, and they didn't start playing until 9:10PM; the band on several occasions awkwardly paused in between songs because they didn’t know what songs they were supposed to play, despite the fact that I had given them a list of songs weeks in advance, and I asked David for a set list a few weeks leading up to the wedding but he refused to provide one, saying “I don’t really have a full list since we’ll have a lot of singers with us (awesome!)”; the band leader harassed our DJ that she had played two of the band songs, but upon clarification, the band leader was mistaken - For the videography from BWB: the videographer failed to capture one of the three dances When I initially brought these issues up with David, I asked for our full tip amount back at the very least (we had already given the tip to the band in advance). He apologized for my unmet expectations, offered 40% back, and said that things were out of their control, claiming that the venue did not provide adequate dinner (why they were 15 minutes late to the stage) and that covid had caused last-minute substitutions (why they had multiple pauses). I responded saying I did not think that was fair. After back and forth, David revealed that the string arranger had in fact "missed the finer details" and that the videographer missed a dance because he “had a lot going on”, and that they were both sorry, but gave no other explanations for the other issues. He then agreed to refund the full tip amount (nothing more) and again apologized for my feelings. After we received this, I then made it very clear to David that I didn’t think that this was enough given their reputation and cost, and stated that if I were in his position, I would have offered a more significant refund given how much stress BWB caused us during our wedding and honeymoon. I told David that I was going to post this review online in 7 days unless they offered at least a 50% refund and to please let me know if anything is not accurate. He did not respond. UPDATED: Just lowered my rating to 1 star for the pathetic and false response below. Stay away.

We cannot recommend Blue Wave Band enough! Leading up to the wedding, David was very communicative, accommodating, organized, flexible, and professional. We had our wedding at a private residence so there were a lot of unknowns and pre-planning that needed to happen. David always made us feel at ease and was available to chat on the phone whenever we needed. The band played everything we requested and read the room to always match the energy of the crowd. All of the musicians were extremely talented (we had an eight-piece) and sounded very tight playing together. Annie, the lead singer, was a knockout! The entire night went off without a hitch and we couldn't have been happier with our experience.

Blue Wave Band is the absolute best! I do not know where to begin when explaining how amazing they were for our wedding. For starters the musicians are incredible talented and the stage presence is perfect. They know how to bring the party! We had members play during our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. The ceremony was so special with acoustic guitar covers of songs of our choice played beautifully. The jazz trio was the perfect addition to the cocktail hour. Then they crushed it at our reception! Additional packages we had included MC services which was perfect for flow of our day- just enough to help facilitate when people should eat and when dances were. Where we really valued Blue Wave was their professionalism (particularly member RL) with managing last minute wedding issues with our venue. We had some unfortunate last minute curve balls from our wedding venue, but Blue Wave took the high road and the day went off without any issues- it was perfect! Aside from their incredible talents, their level of professionalism is priceless. I wish them nothing but the absolute best, they are a wonderful group of people.

Blue Wave Band brought the party!!! We were a bit anxious about so much attention at our wedding and we aren't particularly big dancers, but the energy that Emily & the band brought to our celebration kept us and our friends on the dance floor the entire night. They are such talented musicians, every one of them. Dave was communicative and helpful in our planning process, and our song requests were thoughtfully woven into the evening. We booked the cocktail hour jazz trio and Emily was our MC too - both worth every penny. Don't hesitate to book this incredible band, the music and vibe is what your friends and family will remember!!!

Wow, what can I say that even comes CLOSE to explaining how great Blue Wave Band is? They made our wedding day so fun and unique, we will forever cherish the memories they helped create! Their planning website was so detailed and thorough, which really helped us communicate what music we liked and didn't like. They met with us to help us pick the size of the band we would need and they provided amazing music from the ceremony all the way through the end of the night! We also used the band as an Emcee during the evening which was an amazing option. We really loved working with them and it was so fun to dance to their amazing live music all night long. Our guests loved them too and mentioned how great they were and how fun it was to have a live band. We would absolutely recommend them for any event!!

Hire… these… people! Seriously these guys are amazing. The Blue Wave Band is a conglomeration of musicians who make an impromptu grouping depending on what the client is looking for. So, if you’re doing a corporate event and want a 4-person string quartet the musicians who will play your event will probably be different than if you requested a 20-person rock band with a full horn section for a gala. My husband and I booked a 5 piece rock/pop band for our June ’22 wedding and we worked with an amazing producer from the group named RL who was so easy to talk to, always responsive and just generally awesome. They have an online client portal and the more detailed you are the better the producer can do. RL pulled together THE MOST AMAZING band who couldn’t have been a better fit for us or for our guests. The singer the band brought was top of the line, amazing, gifted… we can’t say enough! She even learned 2 songs – one for our ceremony, the other for our first dance and sung both beautifully. While we understand if we hired Blue Wave Band again, we’d likely have a different band, we have little doubt whoever they would bring would be amazing!

As a nerdy couple, they helped make our night really unique with music from the Avengers and Star Wars in addition to all the classics one would expect. Our wedding planner connected us with Blue Wave Band after the band we had originally booked had to cancel last minute. In a matter of 72 hours, they were able to take in the extensive plan that we’d worked on for months with the other band. Communication over this short period was clear and organized, and it allowed us to relax and trust that they would do a great job. We really lucked out that they had a crew available that close to our wedding. Having high quality live music was something we were really looking forward to and the Blue Wave Band came through in a big way. The musicians were all very talented, the sound quality was well-engineered, and their overall production was well organized. They played acoustic songs during our ceremony, played a few songs during cocktail hour, and then played the reception for nearly 3 hours. They played a wide spectrum of music from classic rock, to 80’s & 90’s pop, to some modern hits as well, but I have no doubt they could execute on just about any genre. Everyone was dancing and enjoying the music – including our friends in their late 20’s to mid 30’s, and our younger and older relatives. They even ripped a few well-placed solos that were a ton of fun. Afterwards we received a lot of positive feedback on how good the band was and how much fun our friends and family had dancing and enjoying the music.

Despite the many date changes and emails later, David and the BWB remained flexible and so easy to work with! On top of that, we received countless compliments on the band, how skilled you guys were and how fun the party was! The strings were absolutely gorgeous and the MC did an amazing job and made the entire night so smooth. For many of our guests and vendors, it was their first wedding ever with a live band! Such a fun party and a lasting memory for everyone, including my husband and I! Definitely recommend and would hire them again in a heartbeat. 100% the right move. If you’re doing live music, this is the way to go. From the pre-event coordination, to set, to the live music it was all amazing super detailed, organized, and not stressful. They played exactly what we wanted and how we wanted, even better than expected. From learning new songs, to reading the audience mood, to having the right amount of personality at the mic - it was everything we could have hoped for and more.

David was professional and timely with communication prior to the event, which included a date change (we had to postpone our wedding reception by 1 year due to the COVID-19 pandemic). I am a Seattle-based wedding planner who recently worked with Blue Wave Band for the first time. I was BLOWN AWAY. We hired the band for a combination of DJ services and live band entertainment. They were incredibly organized during the planning process and have a client portal to help couples organize all the musical details for their day. They were flexible to add on band members and an MC as rules adjusted coming out of the pandemic. Their musicians actively read the crowd and adjusted their set list based on what guests responded positively to. Their MC was charismatic, their musicians energetic, and they really set the celebratory vibes for everyone present. In 2022, they are going to be my FIRST CALL for my five year anniversary party. Need I say more? If you're looking to hire incredible talent for your wedding or party, look no further.

In addition to great music, Blue Wave Band had clear and responsive communication, easy quote and payment processes, and a very thoughtful and comprehensive scheduling/notes platform. We worked with David, and he was fabulous. Getting married in 2020 meant we had to change plans often and quickly, and David was great in helping us understand our options and find the perfect fit for music for our wedding day. Blue Wave Band was the perfect addition to our wedding! Working with them prior was easy as can be, they have a personal website where you can input all you day of information as well as request songs to be played. They handled everything day of, including ceremony music, MCing the entrances to the reception, playing my spotify playlist while they were on break and, of course, putting on an awesome show that had my entire 250 person wedding up and dancing all night long. I hired this band when I saw them at a wedding and now have guests at my wedding doing the same. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a rocking band!

The Blue Wave Band was absolutely fantastic! They are gifted, talented, professional musicians that know how to make an event an awesome experience for the guests. The band's performance created an atmosphere that truly made our New Year's Eve Wedding Reception a huge success. The dance floor was full from the beginning to the very end and everyone had a blast (an amazing band is the ONLY thing that keeps the dance floor packed all night long). The comment we heard over and over from our guests was "That band is so amazing!" The variety of music they performed was impressive. We started the evening with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while the band played instrumental background music as guests mingled and visited and then later the band got the party rockin' for the rest of the night with great dance music. I feel it is important to mention how much I value and appreciate the level of professionalism I experienced throughout the entire process. From the very first contact to book the band, prompt replies to all communications prior to the event, punctuality on the day of, appropriate dress and appearance of the band members, as well as their fun personalities and obvious enthusiasm and love of what they do, all made the whole experience stress-free, positive, and memorable. I give my highest recommendation for the Blue Wave Band to perform for anyone wanting to have first-class, live music performed at their event.

We couldn't recommend Blue Wave more highly - they made our wedding reception a total dancefest. We attended three showcases and saw a number of band members rotate through different songs - definitely recommend this to get voices to suit the musical style you want. The showcases were good but a bit low energy - but they absolutely blew us away the day-of. Huge range of songs and they kept people going all night. Thanks so much!
