If you want your dance floor packed all night, book them!! We booked a 10 piece band for our wedding reception, a 3 piece set for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and MC services. They were extremely professional and their planning portal made communications so easy. We were able to customize our music selections with favorite songs/bands and preferred genres. We gave them a Spotify playlist for inspiration on music we would like to hear, which they nailed. Additionally, we were able to give them another Spotify playlist of our music choices to play during breaks and the last 30 minutes of the evening. This customization truly made the reception feel unique to us. Each musician was amazing and brought so much energy to the night and the dance floor was always packed. The horn section really brought the whole band together! We can not recommend them highly enough! Book them!!!

Bluewater Kings Band was a delight to work with from start to finish. They were very purposeful in making sure they knew the vibes we were looking for on our wedding day. We had a cocktail hour jazz trio, ceremony piano + violin, and a band for the reception. The cocktail hour trio provided an ambience to the day that could not be matched by simply throwing some jazz on a speaker. The ceremony musicians were able to play a relatively obscure piece of music with no problems at all. And the reception band was so tuned into the energy of the crowd at the reception. We were expecting a relatively low-key, sort of sit and chat kind of reception, and that's what we had communicated to the band. But to my surprise, there were people always on the dance floor and the band responded perfectly, playing the night by ear and keeping the energy up. I'm also a singer and had requested to sing a song for my wife and they were so easy to work with and receptive to what I needed from organizing it to the execution day of. We had a small wedding at a relatively small venue and I was really worried the music might overpower the evening, but the band was at the perfect volume and was constantly aware of the vibes and did a great job. We had zero issues. Only positive things to say from us and our guests. Highly highly recommend Bluewater Kings, they're true professionals.

The planning interface was super easy to use and the band had played at our venue and worked with our wedding coordinator a bunch of times before, which made everything so easy. I think one of our guests whose daughter is getting married even asked them for their card. 12/10 recommend :)

ne of the highlights of the evening was when they invited my husband (the groom) up to sing a couple of songs—such a fun, unexpected moment that created an amazing memory for us and our guests. They also performed as a live jazz trio during cocktail hour, which completely elevated the occasion and set the perfect tone from the very beginning. It felt classy, fun, and truly special. Our reception space was on the smaller side for a band, but they made the most of it—positioning themselves thoughtfully to open up the dance floor as much as possible and keep the energy flowing. So many of our guests told us it was some of the best live music they’ve seen—not just for a wedding, but anywhere. We received endless compliments and couldn’t recommend them more highly.

We spent a long time filling out info on genres/artists we like- the first half of the reception they did not play any songs that’s aligned with what we were hoping for. Things got better when the groom talked to the band to play more high energy newer songs. It was also very important to us to have a high energy MC and made it clear dancing was a huge part of our wedding- he was not high energy and did not engage at all with our guests. I know there are lots of different band members and coordinators so this might have just been our experience. We had high hopes for this band based off all the great reviews, but unfortunately we were disappointed.

They were a part of our entire day — from the guitarist playing beautiful instrumental versions of church classics in our tiny chapel, to a fabulous jazz trio setting the perfect mood at cocktail hour, and finally, to the 6-piece band absolutely rocking our reception. They perfectly captured our vibe based on the requests we gave them and were unbelievably talented. They were also wonderfully flexible — even learning a Beastie Boys song so my dad could crash the set and have his moment in the spotlight (and yes, the crowd went wild). Our guests loved that we had live music and we’ve received many compliments on our choice. The MC services correctly introduced our bridal party, fulfilled all our requests on how to start and stop the music for our special dances, and did a good job handling the bridal party speeches. We’ve been to others weddings where these type of requests were ignored by a DJ. The planning process for hiring the BKB is very streamlined and professional. We were in contact with a band coordinator (Karisa) months before our event who was very responsive and helpful We would strongly recommend the Bluewater Kings to anyone looking for an excellent wedding band

Communication was always clear and quick, and they offer packages to suit everyone’s needs. They’re reasonably priced, and you DEFINITELY get more than your money’s worth. for outlining song selections, and were professional in all their interactions. While the actual performers for our band were wonderfully talented, we were a bit disappointed in their song selection. BWK asks you to outline genres/bands you'd like to hear, and we took the time to thoroughly respond. However the night's setlist had little overlap with what we requested and consisted of mostly the same 20 songs you hear at every wedding. We asked for 2000's rock and got Johnny B. Goode. Additionally, the band only played one of the three specific song requests we were allotted. We did enjoy the cocktail music but were ultimately disappointed by the song selection during our reception.

While I understand that bands switch managers, the manager who took over shortly before my wedding was not as good at communication. She emailed a lot but didn't seem to always read my notes form previous discussions. This meant that I had to re-plan a lot for her. In addition, I was disappointed that we couldn't select more of the music. I understand that a band should determine their sets based on the musicians and the crowd. Because of this, I created playlists for the DJ when the band was not playing. Unfortunately, much of the time these playlists were not used between band sets. They even played a weird song during my bouquet toss instead of the one clearly marked (and communicated) for the toss. Between the lack of organization and this issue, I left feeling a bit bummed. Regardless, I do generally recommend Bluewater Kings. Our guests enjoyed the music a lot.

world if we could. We contracted with them for a string duo for our ceremony, jazz trio for our cocktail reception and 8 piece band for our dinner/dancing. It’s now been three weeks after our wedding and we are STILL getting feedback from our guests about how much they loved the music throughout each event, and especially the band at night. So many highlights from our night revolve around the liveliness and fun the BWK Band created. Especially when band members made their way to the middle of the dance floor with their instruments - our guests went wild! It was so incredible having such talented and fun musicians interacting with everyone. Each and every musician we had during our day was so wonderful and I could not have asked for anything better. I worked with Karissa leading up to our big day and can not say enough about this incredible woman. First of all, her voice and the band will have you on your feet dancing and celebrating all night long! She was also wonderful to work with and communication/response time was great the entire ten months leading up to our special day. My wedding planner quit unexpectedly 11 days prior to my wedding and when Karissa found out, she gave me a call to talk through it and reassure me that she was there to help any way she could. This was not something she had to do, but it was so heartwarming to have her support. So if you want to take an already memorable event to the next level, definitely go with Bluewater Kings Band! You will have all ages on the dance floor all night long, screaming “encore!” at the end of the night.

Did a cousin get so into the music that he removed articles of clothing but added his sunglasses? Also yes. There isn't a lot of bands to choose from in the Midwest. Bluewater Kings does a great job of advertising and being known. They were recommended by our venue, Mission Point Resort ...

as well. Communication leading up to the wedding was great and they were willing to work with the 3 portions of my wedding that I wanted them to play at, as well as assemble the types of instruments I desired. I had a trio for ceremony and cocktail hour, then a 6 piece band for reception. They were also in charge of the sound system at the ceremony and reception, as well as emceeing the reception. My recommendation is, before you book them ask them for their repertoire and make sure you like what music they offer. I had a full list of songs I wanted and to get those played they had to be "DJ'd" between the bands sets, otherwise the band performed the songs they chose off of their repertoire. They were able to play the instrumental music I wanted for the ceremony, which was nice, and they were willing to learn 3 new songs of my request. It's important to note that the band you get for your day may not have played together before, they assemble musicians from their company from whoever is available for your date. They also read the lyrics off their phone to sing for the songs they didn't know. The emcee service was just ok, there was a lot that wasn't said or said enough. If you are very particular about the emcee portion make sure you emphasize that or hire an actual emcee, or write a script for them. For my wedding I told them my crowd was young at heart and wanted to dance to the top hits, which they do not know many of at all. They assured me that they were the best at making sure people dance and we did, but to old usual wedding songs and could've danced more if it was more current hits. Overall they did their job, but I had hoped for more and would do it different if I did it again. The presence of having a live band there was probably the best part of what they had to offer.

that you and your guests had such a fun time dancing – it was a beautiful wedding and a fun crowd! As we discussed, we don't often play EDM as a live band, nor do many event bands, since it can be difficult to translate properly with limited instruments. I know many of your reception requests were club hits, which is the main reason we suggested DJ'ing those during band breaks. It would also be difficult to learn an entirely new set in time for each wedding we perform, which is why we offer to learn 3 new songs for the reception, build the rest of the set based on our existing repertoire, and DJ anything we can't learn. I'm sorry if you weren't happy with that solution. As far as how our band is put together, while we do put together groups based on availability and the band size requested, our musicians perform together often in various formats and at showcases and we've all known each other for years! Regarding reading the lyrics, we do have music and lyrics as well as the event schedule on our iPads to make sure everything runs smoothly. I'm sorry that you wanted more from the MC service – we will certainly take note of this feedback for future gigs. t kind of vibe your looking for and also reading the guests the night of the wedding. We wanted a dance floor filled all night and Blue Water Kings provided! High energy, superb sound quality and an excellent variety of music! Our guests raved about the band, definitely the best we have ever heard for a wedding! performance structure once. Danielle was always understanding and accommodating. She helped me take my vision and transform it into the most perfectly planned schedule. I was able to list some of my favorite songs and the band ran with it far better than I could have even imagined. As far as the actual performance- to say it exceeded my expectations doesn’t even do it justice. My guests were blown away. I’m still hearing about how impressed everyone was. Not only did the musicians perform flawlessly, but they were able to constantly read the room and know when to play something more upbeat, slow down, or stop altogether. If I had to redo the entire day, I wouldn’t change a single thing about the band or their performance. They’ll be able to take your vision and turn it into your dream day.
